If not for two really horrendous calls - a TD taken off the board for an illegal forward pass when the QB was a yard behind the LOS when he threw the ball, and a clear fumble three plays before Roncalli's last TD where the runner was incorrectly ruled down - NP might have won that Roncalli game in 2022, too. NP's failure to convert multiple fourth-and-1s turned out to be their downfall, but that was a one-possession game for most of the night. 2021 was a rebuilding year and a surprise sectional title, but they managed to keep Cathedral a two-possession game. They scored 61 freaking points against Snider in 2015. The difference in that game was a blocked PAT and NP had no real answer for Snider's speed on the perimeter. Schedule had *nothing* to do with it. They beat Columbus East, Zionsville and Castle - not exactly chopped liver - to get to Lucas Oil. As far as "can they compete with the Top 10 6A teams," guess what, they don't need to. They're a 4A school, they need to beat the top 4A teams. Chatard will be the best team NP will have faced this season. This should be a very close, well-played game between two very good, well-coached teams.

I used to talk to you on this board probably when Temp was in middle school or before. You and all the Fort Wayne guys are Knowledgeable and reasonable. How you can banter with someone who thinks he’s never wrong is beside me.

They also beat Brownsburg, Cathedral, and Center Grove as well as Cincinnati Moeller who was a large class state finalist in Ohio. I don't think Crown Point would have beaten any of those teams.

I don't think CG is as good as they have been in the past, but I will say this...there isn't a better big game coach/program in the state than Eric Moore/Center Grove. Despite having a defense that struggles to get off the field, their offense is still very legit. I know the winner of LN/Brownsburg does not want to see CG in semi-state, especially LN who has already played them once. I think CG is still a very legitimate threat to win the state title. Way too many people counting out the Trojans who are still the standard program in this state.

Not a good example. The SAC is loaded with 3A-5A teams and Homestead still isn't the team they were a few years back. However, it is interesting that Noblesville running clocked them, yet they were an onside kick away from having a chance to beat HSE. Here comes Temp.

Every year I am on these boards some person runs their mouth about Luers and every year they come to regret it. Not a vintage Luers team this year, but the defense is really good and there are a bunch of athletes. Offense is ok, but let me tell you HH has nothing that Luers hasn’t seen a million times from 5A and 6A teams that are MUCH better than HH has ever dreamed of being. Both gone. only way that happens. 🙂 Correct after you almost 100% called the 2-0 victory ( was 0-0 heading into the 4th, we got a safety then scored after that with short field to make final 9-0) we spent 30-45 mins a day and an hour every Saturday working the Semi State LCC Script, knowing we both would see each other in week 14. We sprinted to a 14-0 lead as we figured out how to maniupulate where Cronk and Anthrop were going to be and ran our QB downhill and able to seal Cronk and Anthrop and Yeagley#25) to create the running room and sprung that surprise. Put us over the edge and rest as they say is history, 10 years later

I'm confused , are you disputing my post ? What does CP being the 6th best team on BD's schedule have anything to do with what I said ? I don't care if there were 10 teams in INDY metro better than CP last year , they were still better than the MAJORITY of the teams in the entire INDY Metro area .

The 1A state champion has to be a private school STATE LAW! Crown Providence state champs right now and move on to basketball and wrestling (and swimming if you're into that sort of thing)

Hoping someone can knock off Luers. Only 2 out of the last 9 state champions in 3A have been public. Would be nice to see a public school win 3A again.

It reminds me of the semi-state game in 2014. RC beat LCC 17-14 and they beat Bremen by 35 points (48-13) the week before. Andrean beat Bremen by 35 points last week. I only hope that LCC is able to kick the FG this time and win the game.

Do you know the back story of the Arizona game? Crown Point High School's football team played Arizona College Prep in 2024 because Crown Point needed a replacement game for Week 2 and Arizona College Prep had a schedule gap on the same date. Here's some more information about the game: Coaches: Crown Point's Craig Buzea contacted coaches in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, and Michigan to find a replacement game. He discovered that Steve Vaught, a former player and coach of Buzea's, was the new head coach at Arizona College Prep. As far as T-shirt goes.....what was wrong with stating the fact they did represent the NORTH? CP has TREMENDOUS buy in and even more awesome operating Budget. So should they not get "RED" rings that say they won the NORTH as well? Or do we just throw shade at a $13 T Shirt?

This is why I am undeniably hesitant to pencil CP in as the North representative (and eventual Champion) as my buddy RegionFBFan is eager to do/ has proclaimed throughout the year (his words). Can't blame people for being hesitant given the history of 5 and 6A State tournaments. I think some folks on here explained the Arizona College Prep scheduling situation pretty well as for the Champions of the North shirts. I'll LOL right here with you Temp. 🤣

LN outclassed Cathedral Friday and didn't even play particularly well. First time in a long team that I've seen a team head and shoulders better than Cathedral. LN is the best team in the state by a wide margin in my opinion and their toughest opponent is going to be themselves. Turnovers and penalties can wreck a team in the postseason and that is something that needs cleaned up because good to great teams will take advantage.

Here's a GREAT problem to have... Looks like the Braves are now getting into "big boy" FB. I'll bet that you would take that as a push to beef up the athletic admiration system in place at this time. All in all, if the success of Maconaquah continues for the next few years; I bet that things will change/expand. Heck, yawl turfed the place a couple of years ago. And the AD is fantastic down there, also.

If it comes down to the kicking game, we will be at a serious disadvantage, but so far, we have been able to avoid this. Brownstown special teams has made several big plays in the return game this year from what I have seen. #1 and #40 are both fast , but #40 is more of the tackle breaker whereas #1 will go mainly untouched due to his speed. Both will need hit in the backfield to try and contain them. The QB, #17 can make big plays with his feet and arm. The offensive line is very precise and executes very well. The wing-t variant is a combination of the traditional wing-t and the old single wing. I was fortunate to play in both of those systems. Very interesting to watch. Hard to figure out where the ball is going, especially if you are looking in the backfield. As far as Linton goes, last week we struggled against the pass and allowed one big run. Greencastle was much improved after switching up their lineups and getting some players back from injury. We did move the ball up and down the field most of the night, and we have for the last several weeks. However, Brownstown will be the best team we have played since our opening two games against Marion Local and Monrovia. With that being said, they are not Marion Local. Linton will come in the underdog, but will not be intimidated. One interesting thing is that the SOS for both teams are 202 for Linton and 225 for Brownstown. This was surprising due to the fact that Brownstown does play 7 3A-5A schools throughout the season. Switzerland County was the lowest ranked Sagarin team they have played in the tournament at 229. The best ranked Sagarin team this whole season has been Paoli at 133. The lowest ranked Sagarin team that Linton has played in the tournament was Greencastle at 168. Linton's Best ranked Sagarin team this whole season was Monrovia at 111. This doesn't mean much, but I was bored and found it interesting. I expect the crowd to be huge and the atmosphere to be great. I have seen some film from Brownstown and see a lot of team speed and great athletes across the board. Linton also has some great athletes across the board. This game will be decided in the trenches like most games, but I believe turnovers will be the biggest factor. This game could go either way by 1 or 2 scores, in my opinion. Brownstown is definitely the favorite for a reason, but I know the Miners will not go down without a fight.

Then you have to worry about IU commit Chandler 6'0" 170 lbs and Sales 6'5" 195 lbs and D. Moore 5'8" 162 (Moore and Sales were on the 4x100 relay team). They have speed to burn.

I haven't read thru any of this thread, but this much I do know, I tuned in after the dust had settled and rewatched LN vs Cathedral Late Friday night. WOW, that LN team is FUN and LOADED with dudes. LOVE that BOX defenders especially the DL and the activity of LB and timing of their blitzes. Pure Chaos !!! Also the SOPH RB LN has is ELECTRIC !!!

They have been underestimated on this board all season. They just keep rolling and have gathered a little more respect with a lot of skepticism implied. Agree. They will roll Carroll, then beat Westfield and will win 6A title. I said it 5-6 weeks ago and nothing has happened to change my opinion. Yes, LN will present some issues with their speed but they aren’t as physical as CP and definitely not disciplined enough. CP will just wear you down and keep LN offense off field. Personally believe, Westfield will be the tougher opponent than LN.

I believe your opinion is valid. Crown Point is a great team. Statistically speaking, the number of variables added to the schedule by hypothetically placing CP in the HCC make it far less likely that the Bulldogs would be able to escape the season with 1 or less loss. Not impossible, just less probable. Like others have said, the HCC schedule introduces way more teams that are able to compete with CP. Going from only having to worry about two teams a year to having to properly prepare each and every week. Hypothetically, the wear and tear of playing tougher games and having to play the full 48 minutes will cause injuries. Even if its 60/40 odds that CP would beat HSE, that is a significantly tougher task statistically than say the 80/20 chance they had to beat Valpo. Replace the 95/5 chance of beating Portage with the 70/30 chance of beating Noblesville. That's a statistically significant difference. CP could absolutely go 7-0 in the HCC. Imo its just as likely that they go 4-3.

Really cool to see Coach Grant and the Warriors having a lot of success this year. South Adams is not what the Warriors wanted to see Friday night. From what I've seen they like to sling it around the yard, something the Warriors have struggled with stopping all year. I'm not sure either team will be able to stop the other. High scoring game in this one with the winner being whoever has the ball at the end of the game. North Judson by however much they want.

Homestead falling asleep on the bus in 2019? Or running yardage being more important than passing yardage against HSE? No, I'm not sure which.

You're forgetting Decatur Central, because that game was called at halftime and ruled a no-contest so it's not on Harrell. NP had nearly 300 yards of offense in the half that was played and moved the ball very effectively against a likely 5A state finalist. DC is ranked higher than every team on Chatard's schedule except Cathedral. I'm not saying NP is the favorite, but these are probably the two best teams in 4A and it should be a very good game, but who they played in Week 5 is irrelevant to what will happen on Friday night.

You realize New Pal practices against New Pal every day, right? I hear this every year. "They don't play anybody" (which we'll hear unless the schedule includes 1991 Ben Davis, 2007 Warren Central, et al), "their schedule is weak." And yet, NP has won six regional titles in the last 11 years, several of them in a class higher than their enrollment level. They faced a likely 5A State Finals team in Week 2. They obliterated a ranked Greenfield-Central team in Week 6. They faced a decent Kokomo team in Week 1 - one down by their standards, but still solid. New Pal doesn't duck anyone. They've played Whiteland, Westfield and Center Grove in the past in the non-conference (as well as Brebeuf when they've been surging). They've play Decatur Central every year for the last four seasons. Schedules don't win championships. Players do.

This game is going to be so fun to watch based on @foxbat's assessment on LCC's offense. Andrean's defense is essentially equipped to defend this type of attack. They keep 7 in the box at all times in their 3-4 Base and their 4 men in the Secondary are pretty darn good. Both Safeties are D1 guys as most know but the Corners are pretty good players as well. I've thought all year that Andrean was a little light/ small up front with their STARTING D-line group but they have quality big fellas to plug in if needed. Should be fun to watch the LCC offense (which sounds explosive and fun to watch) vs the Andrean Defense, which has been ROLLIN' as of late.

Let me hopefully clarify the best I can. With all the variables and unpredictability of the HCC. It is not easy to predict what Crown Points record would be in the HCC just as it is not easy to predict any HCC teams record.

I get what he's saying. It's a bloodbath. Everyone is capable of beating the top dog. There are no Crown Point vs. LaPorte type of games or Carroll vs. South Side, Ben Davis vs. North Central, etc. Noblesville finishes dead last with 0 HCC wins and only one conference game had a MOV higher than 7 points. That's a wild stat to me. And 2 years in a row they put a running clock on a team that just finished 5-2 in SAC play.

In my opinion, your opening paragraph made the exact opposite point of your intention.

Yes. Every school hosting a game this week didn’t know they would still be playing until they won last Friday night. They figure it out, and neutral site hosts could potentially have even more notice that they will most likely host a regional game than the hosts in the current format which depend upon the outcome of the sectional finals. Schools could apply to host as they do in other sports, but geography and travel time are rarely considered by the IHSAA when selecting hosts. I’d like to see a rule that a school must make their facility available to host a regional or semi-state game to be able to host any round of the tournament. Schools that refuse are on the road for every round. That rule would never fly, and I would rather see the IHSAA increase the payout to host schools to make it more lucrative if this ever did become a reality.

Fair enough. And I hope my post didn't come across as negative. Coach Lewis did a great job at Jasper. 20 games over .500 is quite a record for a 5 year span. I wish him the best of luck in whatever path he takes next.

If it's coming down to a field goal, both teams are about in the same boat by the numbers. Both have field goal kickers that are 50% prior to last week's outing. Both are 5 for 10. LCC's Henry has a long of 36 while Andrean's Cusick's longest was 38. Henry has two games where the field goals were in tight games ... 3A West Lafayette where he went 2-2 in LCC's 12-7 win and 1-2 in LCC's 17-6 win over RCHS. Cusick has two games also that were also tight ... a 3-0 win over Hanover Central and a 27-24 win over Hobart. Two of Henry's misses in the Logansport game were not on him and, if I recall correctly, he had a rush kick against Guerin that he missed. In warm-ups, he tends to be fairly consistent around the 40-yard mark. He's hit beyond 50 in warm-up, but not necessarily consistently. One advantage that LCC has this season is that they are 2-2 on 2-point tries including a game-winner in the last minute, in a 22-21 comeback win over Guerin. Under Nay, they also did the same thing to win the state title, 29-28, over Lutheran in 2019, so it's not an anomaly to the Knights if they have to do it again Friday night. The Knights have had the ability over the last four games to run both the one-minute offense at a constant rate as well as a more ground-oriented, clock and field killing offense too. Having the practice at both should add to their confidence, as well as their toolbox, heading into Friday.
