  1. Nothing would make me happier than seeing Garrett win this one. It would be the first time since 2000 that two public schools would play for the state championship in 3A, the winner of that game oddly enough, Heritage Hills. Some might call it a coincidence, I say its destiny that Garrett beats Luers on Friday night...And then takes one on the chin from Heritage Hills in the state championship lol.

  2. He IS administration, lol. He gonna be the boss of the new hire? That wouldn't be awkward.

  3. Two of my observations so far: * For Westfield having "Rocks" on the helmet and "Shamrocks" on the jersey is bit redundant. Pick one or the other. * Why oh why do schools continue to add black or gray to their uniforms when neither is an official school color? They think it makes them look "tougher"? It's stupid.

  5. So you're telling me 5A and 6A have multiple uniform combos, while 1A and 2A have guys playing both ways. They're really two different worlds.

  8. GREAT analysis. All signs point to these being two great games tomorrow night and a competitive final regardless of the outcome.

  9. In all honesty I'm not likely to drive 2 plus hours on a Friday from my home in western Hendricks County to Crown Point for a football game. No more than you are likely to drive 2 and a half hours from Fort Wayne to Crown Point or 2 hours to Westfield. It would be much more likely for me to drive 50 minutes to Westfield or 48 minutes to Center Grove. It really has no bearing on my thoughts of teams from year to year. I will however watch streams when I can of games if I am not at a game in person. I also will watch film of various different games when I have the time. I have given Crown Point plenty of compliments and haven't said anything negative. Saying I am staying reserved until I see them play stiffer competition is not a diss to Crown Point, I just want to gage how they play with teams that can match their talent, size , and speed. We are at that time now and the Westfield vs Crown Point will be a good gage. As for encyclopedia I just have watched a lot of football over the years.

  12. I cannot stand listening to Cowherd, but chuckled at this one. The argument could be made that Shedeur is not the best player on his Colorado team.

  13. Going to be an expensive roster in Ann Arbor now. I guess 10 mill was too hard to resist. I see in the comments that David Portnoy of Barstool Sports was behind the offer.

  16. Seriously though, this is not unique to Indiana. It’s not cut and dry but anyone with half a brain who picked these games knowing nothing would probably go with the p/p school more often than not. Its pretty simple.

  20. You’re the one who started it by putting out the insightful observation that NFL and college officials are better than high school officials. Why you felt the need to enlighten us all with that shocker, I don’t know.

  21. Not a lot, most are in Garrett. Keep in mind, the only high school in Auburn is a private school, Lakewood Park Christian. Dekalb is right outside of Auburn Put the rabbit ears away

  22. I'm in favor of anyone who has DARK NUMBERS on a WHITE JERSEY or WHITE/LIGHT numbers on a DARK jersey. This should not be hard, but some teams make it very difficult. So, the Westfield black/green sets, Center Grove's red-on-black, Mishawaka's maroon-on-gray and Decatur Central's gold-on-white uniforms need to be taken out back and used as bonfire kindling. The NFHS requires "clearly contrasting numbers," but some teams still try to skirt the rule.

  23. One critic stated this years’s Navy uniforms for the big game looked like they were ordered from Temu. I think they are ok Irish, but not the best in recent years…. Now, when a team honors the infamous 101st Band of Brothers with their uni’s, they are referred to as “classics”. Go Army! Beat Navy!!

  24. 4A: East Noble at Mishawaka The visiting Knights have a great road combo of blue helmets with yellow face masks, white jerseys and bright royal blue pants. Just a good color palate with kinda a basic execution. Hopefully they will add some sort of graphic to the lids at some point. (photo courtesy of OutsideTheHuddle) The Cavemen of Mishawaka have FOUR different home options. They gone white/maroon/maroon, white/maroon/white, white/grey/grey and white/grey/white. My favorite combo personally is the white/maroon/white, its the most balance imo. (photos courtesy of South Bend Tribune) Martinsville at New Pal The Artesians have an interesting color combo, but so far the brownish-goldish-tanish pants have not found their way to the away kits, as it seems like they have been going red helmets/white jerseys/white pants on the road this year. Good look, good colors, nice stripes. (photo courtesy of MHS rewind on YouTube) The New Pal Dragons have been going with their long-time white/red/red combo with the shiny red dragon decals on their helmets. A good look with good stripes as well. This match-up may end up looking like an intrasquad scrimmage. (photo courtesy of The Daily Reporter) Black for black sake isn't one of my favorite things, but I especially dislike it when they pair it with another dark color like Westfield's green. Not enough contrast in my opinion.

  26. I’ve seen them in person twice. On offense, they are big and fast. A couple of good running backs, not overly large, but fast and they break tackles. Both legitimate home run threats. QB is pretty good and can stretch the field with his arm + big, fast receivers. They will run outside zone, jet sweep, bubble screens, and they will go deep. They have something of a propensity to shoot themselves in the foot with penalties and turnovers. Hard to stop them unless they help by stopping themselves.

  27. I was a crew chief for an NCAA D3 playoff game at St. John’s in Minnesota when the legendary John Gagliardi was their head coach. He held that job for 59 years, retiring in 2012 at the age of 86. Can’t recall the year, but he was a crotchety old man by then.

  28. No I agree with you. Private schools especially recruit every student that walks in their doors or else the doors won't stay open. I was just stating for some Public School wasn't even in the thought process from the day they were born. There also are a whole multitude of reasons parents look to send their kids to P/P school including: Academics, student teacher ratio, religious classes, and yes even extra curriculars. Extra Curriculars don't have to be strictly Football, Basketball, Baseball. It can also be Band, Debate, Model UN, Chess Club. there is a lot. For example the largest P/P in Indiana Cathedral has 1,172 students. The sport with the largest roster would be Football and they probably roster 103 grades 10-12 and 60 to 70 Freshman (which is a big roster). However that is about 1,000 students that don't play football at all so it's not all football it is a lot of other things. Sometimes things only get looked at in a vaccum with football, there is more than football at P/P and Public schools.

  29. I just gave their current ages and what Coach Moore stated due to his health problems. He said he doesn't see himself coaching much past the age of 65. At the end of last year Coach Moore retired from being the Track and Field Coach at Center Grove. I will say Coach Wright is an anomaly, not many HC's do what he has decided to do.

  35. I can somewhat agree with that. However I would say most kids that went to P/P K-8th Grade and then attend the P/P feeder High School they never had a Public School to choose from or offering. It was likely decided when they were born in St. Insert name hospital that they were attending P/P schools. Many of them didn't even make the choice or have a say their parents made that choice/decision for them.

  37. He has said he wants to give the NFL a shot, and more power to him. But I have a feeling this young man is going to accomplish much, much bigger things in life than playing a few more years of football. Mark my words, he is really going places.

  39. I ran on the field in 86, back when discipline was brought with a stick. They spoke of offense using the letter “I” (formation). The modern offense makes me and old “Serg” cry. Today we want to fling it and fly, this caused the 2023 bulldogs’ season to die. The 2024 door is open for more, maybe Domer will run it and score. He may score six wouldn’t that create some Bulldog kicks. The game will come down to C3’s wall or net. It will depend on how wide or high it will get. If the D stiffens, he may even catch a Jet! If this fails, there will be much regret. HH will score and cause Bulldogs to fret. This venture will take a low score for the Bulldogs I’ll bet! Dogs 14-10 A Hound Always/Usually Knows!
