  1. East with a major upset. They beat BNL 20-17. They intercepted BNL’s QB four times. He had one TD run and 0 TD passes. Crazy.

  5. Cig is pushing a stadium capacity increase with a 2nd deck on the visitor's side (side next to Assembly Hall) and a new modern press box. He will get it. The school needs to figure out parking. Parking currently can cost more than the game ticket.

  9. Post 'em if you got 'em! It's a beautiful night for football as we wrap up the regular season! It would also be a beautiful night to consider a donation to The Gridiron Digest. Please, if you're so inclined, use the link I've provided below. The GID is in dire need of new updated hardware to keep the Digest operating smoother. I've been a member here since 2010 and I gain a lot of information and entertainment from the site. I know the Administration team appreciates the donations, and so do I! Thanks in advance if you do make the decision to donate! https://gridirondigest.net/clients/donations/

  12. The Cathedral Irish are 6-3 going into the playoffs, against some of the best competition in the area. QB out, no problem, Irish 28, Warren Central 21. They won at Center Grove and Warren Central! Not a bad resume! Oh, and I'm really glad to see that temp picked New Pal. 😉

  13. Eh, I do remember earlier in the year you touting all of the talent the River Rats had and how they are a sleeper in 5A, but hey, I am a 6 pack and 3 mud slides in right now so who knows…

  16. Not sure that is a great measuring stick. North has under-achieved for years. Any coach that goes 9-0 is COTY IMO. Maybe I'm biased.

  21. Since this is 2025, not 1890-2023, I think Indiana can trash talk anyone they want to. I mean, as long as you can back it up. "Google me."

  22. Good to see you are still around. IMO, South's defensive front seven has played really well this season with the secondary being suspect at times in their coverage and would be considered the weaker part of the defense. I know in the Columbus North game, the corners were giving too much cushion to the receivers and the front seven was not getting much pressure on the Bull Dog QB, which resulted in two TDs in the 1st qtr for the Bull Dogs. After adjustments, they tightened up their coverage and started putting pressure on Ratliff, and the Bull Dog offense pretty much struggled the rest of the game. The Center Grove game tonight could come down to the secondary vs the Trojan receivers, and that certainly has me concerned. Hopefully, we can get enough pressure on the Trojan QB to help the secondary out. We have also given up three kickoff returns for TDs this season, and that possibly caused the Panthers a trip to the 5A state championship game last season when Decatur Central ran a kickoff back for a TD with 2:23 left in the game to break a `13-13 tie. The penalties have been a big issue this season, but for the most part, they have cut down on the major penalties (mostly holding calls on the o-line) in the last couple games, so there is some improvement there, and they can't afford to have that problem arise again against Center Grove.

  24. What are you saying about Jeff’s schedule? I agree that they are very good, but that schedule, other than the Chatard game, can’t have done much to get them ready for a competitive tournament game, can it?

  25. And why is Jeff getting show much love? Are they really a 6a program playing in 5a? or is that warsaw? I forget who got bumped down.

  27. And IHSAA changed as well and applied those Regional/SS tie breakers to ALL CLASSES, used to alternate 1a/3a/5a was one way, 2a/4a/6a was another

  28. I would rather they play the top 3rd of the HCC or MIC. Don’t think the NLC would benefit them as much. They need to consistently see teams on par with what you would see if you happen to make a deep playoff run.

  32. More of the same... Took a lick against EC and then haven't scored less than 40 or given up more than 14 since. Deep on both sides of the ball per usual.

  33. It's good to see IU taking football seriously! Lots of money to be make. A lot of difference in revenue from crowds of 30-35,000 to a sellout, 50,000+. And that's not just in ticket sales either. Hats and shirts are everywhere!

  34. Cignetti has built this basically using the portal, gotta think with the success he has had so far recruiting should follow in line. Imagine if he can get that going as well…

  35. You should have a DIFFERENT crew. That particular one is known for 25+ penalties called on a regular basis. 31 penalties were called last week when the Bruins played Carroll. I spoke to another/different HC in the SAC tonight and he absolutely noted the crew and their penchant for penalty infractions.

  36. I've posted often about NIC/NLC/Etc conferences up north.....way past time to adjust. Looking at just current NIC/NLC, I think this would be a significant improvement: NIC (7 teams - 2 6A, 4 5A, 1 4A): Penn, Elkhart, Adams, Concord, Goshen, Warsaw, Washington. Plenty of opportunities to play out of conference schools for Penn. Gives them Concord & Warsaw annually, so pick up a DAC, SAC, and an Indy/Out of state team. Goshen will be in the same position they are in the NLC. NLC (9 teams ....*or 8 teams - all 4A except Marian): Marian, Mishawaka, New Prarie, NorthRidge, NorthWood, Plymouth, Riley, StJoe, Wawasee. This would be a sluggfest of a 4A conference. If it goes to eight teams, could still schedule multiiple rivalry games agaisnt former NLC'ers in the newer NIC. *Now the rumor for a while is that one of those NLC teams wants out...but NE8 nor NECC aren't willing to take them (don't ask me how accurate that is). If it happened it would bring the NLC back to 8 teams.

  39. I agree, I'm just giving them the benefit of the doubt because I'd like to see them do well. But until they have the opportunity to play someone good, I guess there's always hope.

  40. This is one of those times when you get to have a really satisfying conversation with the coach. He’ll say “They touched it before it went in the end zone and we recovered it!” And then you get to say, with a really sincere look on your face, ”Coach, you’re exactly right.” They always get this look on their face when they hear that, and you know they’re thinking “uh-oh, I think I just let everyone know that I’m ignorant of the rule.” I remember a conversation with a coach like that, and after I’d explained the rule to him, he looked at me and said “You just made that up!” 🤣😂😅

  41. Any love for Lawrenceburg? 6th in the AP, 4th in the IFCA should have VERY smooth sailing through their sectional. Always a team that seems to turn it on in November...

  42. How many smug Notre Dame, Clemson, Penn State and Florida State fans post on here that defend a massive well-orchestrated cheating scandal from top to bottom? If they did, they'd get the same treatment.

  43. They have multiple middle schools that play CYO football. Subtle reminder Cathedral existed and was playing football 34 years before Scecina Memorial was built, 43 years before Bishop Chatard was built, 45 years before Cardinal Ritter was built, and 50 years before Roncalli was established by merging Kennedy Memorial (Sacred Heart) and Chartrand.
