I made the comment about South Spencer because my wives family lives in the SS school district. The community really wants good FB back. Again IMO community support is the single most important factor in rebuilding a program. Plus, Joh Edge is an excellent coach so I know the last 2 years have been very productive and the players will have a good fundamental knowledge. All this together leads me to believe that South Spencer is a good job.2 points

That's not what I said. By your account the PWO prevents them from joining a lower level team. If that's true it creates an opportunity for someone else to attend that school. That trickles down to ultimately create an opportunity for someone who maybe wouldn't have been able to do it. That's not entirely the case, because there are no defined limits to the number of players the D3/NAIA. Many of those teams have the capacity to take more players. But if the PWO going to IU turned down a scholarship to attend UIndy, that does create an opportunity for a player who only had a PWO to UIndy (or possibly only a D3 non-scholarship offer) to get a scholarship offer. That's a win for him!2 points

Well the debates should be interesting. I told IO a couple days ago, this will be like watching two old men at a memory care facility who cannot hear each other arguing.1 point

Pardon me, but I might be a bit ignorant. @Muda69 makes a great point. Speaking purely from a former AD perspective, basketball and football keep other sports alive at many schools. Hence the reason many schools don’t want to cut football even if they aren’t Conference or Sectional contenders. Swimming, wrestling, tennis, golf, track, etc are not paying the bills, or coaches salaries. Football and basketball do that.1 point

So, he’s doing exactly what he’s supposed to be doing. What’s the problem? Edit: for those just reading this post, the “your” in southend’s quoted post is not only grammatically incorrect, but also refers to @Coach Nowlin, not me.😂1 point

Big props to any HC in basketball/football that teaches a core subject. While PE/weights/etc is not as strenuous as other subjects, it does still take time that you could be game planning, film watching, preparing practice plans, and countless other duties.1 point

All bets are off when a school doubles it's enrollment size. The kids still need to be coached though. With the right coach, Elkhart will endanger Penn's stronghold on the area. And Josh Shattuck might be THAT coach. His seven year track record shows that his teams get better year after year. If that trend continues, Elkhart is a 10 win team this year...........at the minimum. Elkhart's stock continues to rise.1 point

I am 100 percent alright with that. My job as an educator is to educate my students. I want the best teachers in my building. Football which is a a sport that I hold dearly, however, it is an extracurricular. If that means out sports programs are at a disadvantage, but they receive a great education, I can sleep just fine at night.1 point

For what it's worth, Homestead was healthy when they played Snider. They weren't the same team after they lost Braeden Hardwick to injury.1 point

It will happen, Snider's not down for good. Just not sure this will be the year for them. Carroll continues to grow, so I see potential there. They have a good coach and I think he knows how to grow a program. He was an assistant under Isaacs for well over a decade. Homestead hasn't done it by now and they probably won't. There is something missing there. They are always good, but rarely great. At the minimum, the Homestead program should be on par with Snider by now, but they aren't. Enrollment wise, they'll never more than likely be able to rumble with the MIC.1 point

Not many things could beat a cool crisp evening down at Turkey Run High School in the WRC. The smell of camp fires from the camp grounds just across the way and a setting sun. Being able to shake the hands of your fans behind you and the official doing the game at the same time.1 point

https://www.nationalreview.com/news/schumer-claims-conservative-supreme-court-justices-will-pay-the-price-if-they-rule-against-abortion-advocates/ Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on Wednesday warned Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh that they will “pay the price” if they take a position he disagrees with in deciding a case that addresses the credentials required for doctors who perform abortions. “I want to tell you, Gorsuch. I want to tell you, Kavanaugh. You have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price,” Schumer told a cheering crowd of abortion-rights advocates in front of the Supreme Court. “You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions,” the New York Democrat added. A spokesman for Schumer said the minority leader’s comments were a “reference to the political price” Republicans will pay for putting Gorsuch and Kavanaugh on the court, as well as a warning that the justices will inspire a “major grassroots movement on the issue of reproductive rights against the decision.” So it's normal now for the Senate Minority Leader to taunt or threaten the Supreme Court Justices........-1 points

Paid Family Leave Act Will Raise Taxes: https://reason.com/2020/03/05/paid-family-leave-act-will-raise-taxes/ Once again we have socialists attempting to have the federal government stick it's nose into something where it has no constitutional basis to do so. Why should I in Indiana be forced to to support the paid-leave of another citizen in Oregon, or vice-versa?-2 points
