  1. I would reword that. Nothing the officials/coaches did stopped it.

  2. Wow, This thing has taken off into a full-blown blog of ridiculousness! We have posters saying they are coaches, but in reality are officials, acting "scott-free" with what they would or would not have done. Guys, not aware of the nature of ANY "All-Star game" and the looser nature of allowing participants to 'enjoy' themselves during the situation. I've never seen an All-Star contest officiated or conducted as a regular season game in ANY sport. Question: Who's the governing body that could or would hand out sanctions to a player or coach in this situation? Oh, right NONE! Has anyone ever considered that those who tended to make fools of themselves, just cost themselves the very opportunity to play at the next level by their actions last evening? I'm pretty sure that there was a myriad of scouts/coaches there from various institutions that took notes on the behaviors as well as the in-game abilities of some. Then made a simple determination....It ain't worth the trouble.

  3. The North South All Star game since it inception is a representative game to highlight our state players and coaches from all classes and corners of the state. D1 or not, that has always been the case, for some fans with D1 not participating the last 10 years ish, it has lost its luster for them, but for communities and coaches it really means alot, so I prefer to focus on that and believe that last nights actions by a few isn't going to tarnish the concept and event in the future

  4. I officiated this game twice. I can tell you that the last thing you want to do is throw a bunch of flags at what is supposed to be half football game, half graduation party.

  5. Which coaches? Those who had four years to instill discipline in them or those who had three practices?

  6. Pretty pointless debate really…the amount of D1 prospects produced does not determine which conference is better overall.

  7. Were you present? On the sidelines? Nothing like assigning guilt from the cheapseats....then again, pointing fingers without any involvement is what social media has become. Of course, you would have handled it far better and nipped it all in the bud.

  8. I just watched the last couple of minutes of the video. Looks like the official acted wisely. It's hard to officiate an all-star game held in July for graduated seniors. There's really nothing the schools can do from a discipline perspective.

  9. Exactly. That’s why it falls on the coaches to control the players in the only way that’ll make them settle down — playing time. They act like jackasses, sit ‘em down for a series and see if that works.

  10. Have higher expectations of coaches and young people.

  11. Wait, COACHES are a problem? The mentors/leaders of young people? Color me shocked.

  12. I understand it was a sh*tshow tonight. What happened?

  13. I sure hope not. High school football needs more of that. I personally think we should get rid of flags all together.

  14. I expect a punt, pass and kick competition in 2024 since we can’t have high expectations of student athletes and adults.

  15. I'll roll with Warren in 2017, not budging in 2015 though.

  16. But this misses the mark… Should they HAVE to? I know they are simply mimicking what they see at the higher levels, and it is an exhibition/all star game. However, there is such a thing as humility and getting excited when you make a play without rubbing your opponents nose in it. Its gone way too far at all levels. Look guys, it’s an all-star game… everybody there is good and everyone else knows you are good. Just shut up, play the game and show them why you are there. Other wise it just comes across as insecurity. One of the many reasons I no longer coach.

  18. I'm not sure there's any debating that guy. He gets his mind set on one sided opinions from the perspective of a fan coming out of NW Indiana.

  19. Not so fast my friend..with the addition of Homestead and Carroll the sac has produced just as many if not more than dac..Snider itself has produced double digits the last 5 years

  20. “Retired coaches turned officials”…let’s be factually accurate.

  21. Over last 5-7 years the quality of talent has been majorly in the DAC favor. And if y’all wanna know who I am just ask. my name is Don Pavichevich 😂 I’m a merrillville fan but I’m definitely not cody

  22. Yeah, sorry. Not including any P/P’s in the “program” hierarchy.

  23. 17 to 18..wc would get 21+ on most 5a programs..in the 1st half..

  25. Is this for college exposure only? Most of the colleges have probably already made choices at this point & we have technology now to view in season. Guessing the biggest D1 athletes are early enrolling into spring ball more in this day & age. Put it out to pasture.

  26. The 2012 team would like to have a word with you. Lol

  27. That’s a great list. It’s also hard to judge a great program accurately because you have schools move up for success factor recently that could prevent many more schools from winning in their own class level. Conversely, all 6A schools aren’t subjected to a “success factor” so they can continue to win in their own class level. Overall, If you factor in long term success, winning against teams in higher classes(or dominating the 6A level) rarely having an “off” year and produce college athletes, I would say it’s between Cathedral and Carmel with Cathedral edging them out. Before anyone gets on my case about 6A not having an option for moving up so it’s irrelevant, it “fairness” was actually the goal(which it’s not at all the case)Carmel, Ben Davis, Warren Central(and probably 10 others) could easily field 2 teams. I mean wouldn’t this provide more opportunity for more kids? If it was fairness, that would be an option. Since it’s not, it has to be about rewarding those who don’t want to earn it. Now I’m off my soap box. back to main topic. It’s Cathedral who has the top program.

  28. What would you have the officials do that they didn’t? The way in which officials handle this sort of thing is well established. There is an escalating sequence of responses, which goes like this: Talk to the players. This is something the crew does throughout the game. But it becomes much more focused if things get chippy. Talk to the head coaches. “Coach, your #50 is going to get you in trouble if he keeps up the chirping, shoving, etc.” Hopefully, the coach has a little more influence on the player, and calms him down. Throw the flag. Talk can only get you so far. If talking doesn’t work, the flag usually does. Disqualify the offenders. This is absolutely a last resort. I have some pretty good sources (not anyone on last night’s crew), and understand there was a disqualification for targeting against the North early on — which, by all accounts, was exactly the right call. But it continued, and the coaches didn’t even sit offending players for a series after a personal foul or unsportsmanlike conduct foul. There is only so much the officials can do … and my sources tell me the crew did everything they could, but got little cooperation from the coaching staffs. Was that the targeting foul committed against the South QB? The offender was disqualified, as the Referee judged it to be a flagrant personal foul.

  29. You got that right. Players were out of control and officals/coaches did nothing to stop it.

  30. They'd have to grow by 40% to get to 5A.. not sure that's going to happen, could I guess. To answer.. probably not, but I hope we could keep them on the schedule. They have 900 students, bottom of 5A is 1500+

  31. Good work. The former SAC was probably matched evenly with the DAC. With the addition of Carroll and Homestead, I think it's a no contest.

  32. Center Grove, Lutheran, Adams Central, East Central, Cathedral, Bishop Chatard, Roncalli, Mater Dei, Westfield, New Palestine are my 10. Don’t worry about order

  33. The plot thickens, sports fans: NU's baseball coach just got canned for a similar type offense. We either have smart, dumb people, or dumb smart people. BTW, NU just accepted an invite to the SEC.

  34. I feel like Plainfield is criminally underrated and needs to be in the discussion soon. A new era’s coming for the Quakers and first-year head coach Tyler Bless and they have 3 Division I prospects to go along with an experienced QB, momentum, and a down year in the Mid State. Plainfield can easily beat Decatur and/or Harrison in the sectional like they did last year and a run to Lucas Oil is possible.

  35. I don't know, just kind of sounded good. Center Grove is definingly a top team in Indiana, possibly the best in last 10 years, 6 semi titles in last 8 years is solid. But are they the top program in Indiana? I think that may still belong to Carmel or maybe Cathedral?

  36. GS would be, IMO, in the maybe top 30 ?? Like 29???
