  1. I mean we heard this last year too and Tipton won by 17. I don’t really have a prediction other than I expect a great game that could go either way.

  2. Funny story…ate at Zaxbys tonight with #2 and sat next to Leo Collins and Josh Russell (plus two other Memorial kids I didn’t know). We made fun of Tango together…LOL.

  3. So the 2020 offense that managed just 6 offensive points / one touchdown against Center Grove is the greatest offense in Cathedral history. Hmmm 🤔

  4. I've been lucky enough to have personally seen about a dozen ND/Navy games. Some were stinkers, a lot of 'em were hard hitting close games. ( I had a cousin with season tickets that just wasn't interested in this game) In fact I may have seen more Notre Dame games, in person, in my long lifetime, than temp has seen total football games in person. Just guessing of course.😊

  5. I feel like there have been 5/6 different threads about fields/field conditions/moving locations….. like y’all are just beating around the bush because that one thread got locked up 😉

  7. Last year the IHSAA limited the number of balls to four for sanitizing purposes. That is not the case this year.

  9. I think the error was FW Carroll. Up until this year, they had natural grass. They built a new stadium that opened this year, which has turf.

  10. Which I completely get and you are correct but the same Cathedral posters start topics in here on a weekly basis talking about "I hope Cathedral doesn't over look this team" or "this team could make things interesting" when in fact its window dressing as the Irish are at least 3 scores better than everyone in 5A and could probably still win 5A by double figures on an "off night."

  13. Something that was key to MD coming out on top but hasn't gotten much attention was the punting of Eli McDurmon. Twice in the 4th quarter, with MD forced to punt from deep in their own territory, McDurmon responded with consecutive punts of well over 50 yds. I have not seen any stats from the game but his 2nd half avg. had to be > 50 yds.

  15. Hats off to Bosse for competing on Friday. It would have been easy for them to roll over after we took the early lead, but they continued to battle back. Not sure how many Bosse fans are on here but wanted to give props to them. Now, back to the GS vs BTC Regional planning... sorry to interrupt.

  19. Anytime there is a Tracy on the opposing team, anything can happen. One of the most talented families that has rolled through the IHSAA in recent memory. The Irish will have their hands full containing him. I'm excited to see our Front7 be challenged.

  22. This coming Saturday, Notre Dame will host Navy in the renewal of an intersectional rivalry that was played continuously since 1927, except for last year due to COVID. And every year people ask “ Why does ND still play Navy in this era of playoff football where quality wins can be gold?” The answer is both simple and complex. The short answer is that the University owes the Navy an honor debt that can never be repaid. It dates back to WW II, and is explained here. https://www.underdogdynasty.com/2021/6/30/22557150/why-the-navy-notre-dame-game-matters-midshipmen-irish-mids-ken-niumatalolo-college-football At Notre Dame, there are some things more important than wins and losses, more important than playoff qualifying, more important even than national championships. Notre Dame will play Navy as long as Navy wants to play Notre Dame. That is absolutely written in stone for reasons that have nothing to do with rankings, bowl games, or championships. I will be in the house Saturday, as I have been for many of these over the years. I intentionally got tickets in the south end zone, as close to the Navy section as possible. Their people are just outstanding. And if you’ve never seen what happens at the conclusion of the Notre Dame - Navy game, well, all I can say is there is no scene like it anywhere else in college football. I love big time football, the big Bowl games, the playoffs, etc. But for me, this game is the pinnacle, because it represents the pure spirit of college football. Go Irish! Beat Navy! … and then honor them as they deserve.

  26. The 2020 team has a way more impressive resume solely based on strength of schedule. It was Top 5 SOS in the country and they lost their only game by 4 points. Most these seniors were starters on that team, so I don't think they mind which team people think is better. The 2021 team only has a new QB, RB, 2 receivers, and two defensive players. The '96 - 2000 era were incredible teams. I'd say the undefeated 1996 might have been our best ever. Hard to really pinpoint best ever with our 100 years of football. The 1959-1965 football teams only lost 3 games. The '62 team was undefeated and won the "game of the decade" 2-0 against Arsenal Tech, the city's finest at the time. Ready for Hawks!

  27. I was doing a bit of research on this Cathedral '19, '20, & '21 thing and noticed that Center Grove lost 16 games between 2017 and 2019. Kind of off topic, but interesting.

  28. I don't have any idea who is better. I just remember in 2019 there was a lot of talk about how good the Irish were.

  29. The 2021 team would have beaten the 2015 team by multiple scores. Team was full of great individual talent but doesn’t have anywhere near the depth the 2021 team has.

  30. Well, Eastside is rolling right now and they are undefeated. I think this time it’s much closer but as we’ve heard, if it’s at Eastbrook then that’s a tough hill to climb. I still like Eastbrook by a score though.

  35. It's hard to imagine a Snider/Dwenger game not being the game of the week. But this one is hard to argue, Luers/Eastside takes the cake.

  38. Brian Kelly had the personality of a prickly pear for a long time. The administration — and I don’t mean the athletic administration — sat him down and told him he was representing the University poorly, and that was not going to continue regardless of his won-loss record. He has changed dramatically. You want to bring up the Declan Sullivan tragedy that occurred as a result of multiple factors 11 years ago as proof of something, you’ve merely revealed yourself as just another mindless hater.

  39. He’s pretty electric. Hope it stays dry or I might petition to have the game moved to the Eastbrook turf.

  40. Toughness is hard to teach, it's a mind-set. You all have certainly had a lot of success since then...we'll take some credit lol Yes, I think most of the community was behind it. There will always be a few that just like to complain, but overall, it was well-received. Thank you, I hope we can get them once!

  41. Yes, they primarily run the ball, but they have had quite a bit more success throwing the ball this season. #16 is one of the better QB’s to come through here. I would say other than the offensive alignment before the play starts, Eastbrook and Tipton are about the same, as far as run to pass ratio.

  43. Guess who's back!!!!!! Man that was a long strange trip!!!! Stink and the crew got caught up in some stuff and the there is no WiFi in the pokey for clowns like us! But STC is back and ready to get back into action!!!! So many topics this year that the Clown missed, but that is okay! He is ready to spin right into the Championship talk. Always a classic match-up when these two meet! Do the Brownstown Central fans need directions to the "Pit"??? That is a joke! The IHSAA must really enjoy making sure the Braves travel each year to the Pit. Heck the IHSAA had a chance to end that by putting SpinCity back in 2A, but NOPE, COVID! Anywho, here we go! Spinny, Spin, Spin 1.2.3 The Braves are 11-0 and rolling! But take it from STC, there will not be any fire truck riding! Spin on down to the Pit and you know you're going to get whipped. One last question before SpinCity tries to keep up with STC is Coach May's record vs Coach K really 0 and 3??? Going to be a battle we can all agree, just wondering if any SpinCity peeps will stop in and have a Latte or Tiger BL with me? Tigers FOREVER - Braves NEVER

  44. Nope, just you! I’ve talked a number of people that are, or have been members on this site, that have issues with you and your dislike for the Eastbrook program. I’ve seen you drag these conversations through the mud time and again, so I’m done with you. Have a nice day.

  45. I have no reason to dislike Eastbrook other than the way they represent themselves so if you think I'm "trolling" by stating the facts I have, so be it. Notice that you never really debate what I've said, you just don't like that someone said it. I've actually had to cheer for them a number of times in spite of these things. It doesn't change reality though just because you don't like it. But instead of reacting to your own fans acting like they do, you get upset when someone else responds in kind with facts.

  46. You can certify every single player in your program, but you can only dress 75 per game. That's consistent with other sports (for basketball, for example, you can only dress 12 per tournament game). When the IHSAA tournament was first created in 1973, the dress limit was 33. There is a somewhat infamous story where Phil Eskew was at a tournament game (I believe, in Mishawaka), and a fan started complaining about the 33-player limit. Eskew asked the fan, "then why doesn't a player run out of bounds and then come back in before scoring a touchdown?" The fan replies, "because that's against the rules." Eskew comes back with, "so is playing more than 33 players." I'm sure it's to create some equity but also to ensure that players who participate are certified and eligible. There is a tournament roster deadline - and yes, that prevents any move-ins or ringers from showing up after the entry list deadline, but the main reason is to ensure the players are academically eligible (you have to provide the number of classes each student is taking and passing on the entry list, as well as verify their age). You can make changes and pay a fine, but that's usually because a coach forgot to roster someone, not because a student enrolls in your school after the tournament begins. I do remember an incident a couple decades ago where a soccer team sent out a player for a penalty shootout who was not on the tournament roster - likely an oversight on a little-used player. He buried the winning goal and it wasn't discovered until after the game. The player was suspended for the next game (and I believe, the remainder of the tournament) and the coach was reprimanded, but the team was allowed to advance. Roster limits are not uncommon. The NCAA only teams in all divisions to dress 58 players in tournament games.

  47. I hate to sound like Lou Holtz, but a lot can happen during a game, and that's why they play. DC beat the Irish down there 3 years ago. I just hope the Irish aren't looking ahead.

  48. I think more people need to read this. I swear to God they do. Open enrollment doesn’t mean athletic eligibility but some people just don’t get it.

  49. Luers has to be more disciplined. Way too many penalties vs. P. heights. Can't have that from here on out. Players and coaches need to be in the game. After a score you should know who is suppose to be on field. you've played 10+ weeks now. This should be automatic. Can't have a slow start. Especially on D. Davis and #34, will run all over you. Two years ago Eastside beat Luers. Last year Luers narrowly pulled out the win. This team will not be a pushover. Be ready. Don't have the mindset that all you have to do is just show up and you'll win. I guarantee if Luers does. They'll be getting ready for B-ball after next week.
