It’s really very simple. The Sunday after the last regular season game all the head coaches in that sectional meet with a “seeder” at one of the schools. All the coaches talk about the wins and losses they have. Every coach then seeds all the teams but their own. The coach seeds would be visible to all. Take the average of the seeds. Tiebreakers would be head to head and common opponents. Not a whole lot different than wrestling sectionals. I think all the seeds would look pretty good.

Doubtful with the Victory Bell on the line and Coach Peebles being a Cathedral graduate. He will make it very known how important keeping the Victory Bell is in the rivalry.

The SIAC fans tend to think God created the heavens, the earth, and then the SIAC. The closed conference kind of allows a bit of a scapegoat to perpetuate the myth. Teams two through six are a toss-up on any given night. Is that because it's a meat grinder of a conference, or because in general, it's just kind of ....Meh? The parochials' are led by coaching legends who year after year have a higher number of top-quality coachable kids than an equally sized public can only count on every decade or so. I can tell you this, Sagairn is NOT 10 points off on every SIAC team right now. It's closer than they want to believe. Don't let this distract you from the fact that Al Bundy scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, "Spare Tire" Dixon.

I can get on board with the premise of this but Moore has been at one place for 25 years whereas Hart has two state titles at previous stops. Also, Moore had CG making deep postseason runs from day 1. Took CG to the state finals in his second year and won two additional regionals in his first 5 years. Hart had AMAZING success at Reitz and Warren and has yet to even sniff that at Brownsburg, specifically in the postseason. Just crazy to me that a coach at the 6A level has won 81 percent of his games in 9 years and has never advanced past the regional.

I'm with the consensus on this one. Noah Wright and the Raiders will wrap up the Small School PAC championship with a big V in H-town. The kid is greased lightning!

Week 8 Picks Floyd Central (4-2, 3-1 HHC) at Jennings County (0-7, 0-4 HHC): Not much to say here. The Panthers haven’t scored a touchdown against a varsity defense in five weeks. The Highlanders are still in the running for a second straight HHC title, although they need some help. Should be a quick one in North Vernon as Floyd Central runs them over. The Highlanders lead the all-time series 42-8 and have won 7 of the last 8 and 24 of the last 26. Jeffersonville (5-2, 3-1 HHC) at Columbus East (4-3, 4-0 HHC): The Olympians are one win away from clinching at least a share of their first HHC title in the post-Gaddis era. The Red Devils need this win to keep their HHC title hopes alive. Their last conference championship was in 1997. While a Jeff upset win wouldn’t shock me, I’m going off how these teams have done against common opponents. East had better win margins against Seymour and New Albany and, unlike Jeffersonville, they defeated Floyd Central. Columbus East leads the all-time series 32-11 and has won the last 20 games. Seymour (3-4, 2-3 HHC) at New Albany (3-4, 2-2 HHC): Once again, I’m basing my prediction on results against common opponents. Both teams beat BNL and Jennings County and both teams lost to Jeff and Columbus East. In all four games, the margins were better for the Owls. I wouldn’t necessarily rule out a Bulldogs upset, but the numbers favor Seymour so that’s who I’m taking. Due to the age of these two schools, and the incomplete info as a result, Almanac Sports has New Albany leading the all-time series 28-14. Seymour has won the last two games though. BNL (1-6) at Madison (3-4): This is the final time the Stars and Cubs will meet on the gridiron, leaving rival Jennings County as the only remaining HHC team on Madison’s schedule. While a BNL win seems possible, Madison has improved and, on paper, has been the better team this year. Therefore, I’m going with Madison. BNL leads the all-time series 31-5 and has won 3 of the last 4.

Score Prediction Columbus North 34-14

After another domination up front last week and getting out of our heads defensively in the second half of the Bloomington South game, the Bulldogs are looking sharp and fine tuned on both sides of the ball. Bloomington North's sloppy offensive line play will have the offense reeling and desperate early. North's O line will limit the Cougars offensively all night. The Bulldogs discipline and aggression on defense will set them up for success on Friday. Offensively for the Bulldogs their balanced attack should prove to be too much for North's defense to handle. Qb Ratliff, who did his best Patrick Mahomes impression against South, I predict he will have another big game against North's bad defensive back play.

Won't pretend to know. Both guys Hall of Famers obviously, just took different paths to do so.

Meh. The Sagarin would have the Top 2 correct in sectionals 90+% of the time. Idk how else you would seed them. Can't possibly use "opinion".. we've seen how disastrous polling is.

Always a chance. Especially if Bluffton’s defense comes to play. The very few plays I switched over to watch Bluffton, they had a hard time stopping some runs. That could just be luck from when I turned to their games. For AC, they will need to sure up the run blocking. At least 2 if not 3 of those 40+ yd touchdowns could have been 5+yd losses if the first Southern Wells defender completes the tackle. The Jets are going to have to find some more passing success to balance the offense come playoffs.

Bluffton got exposed last week, they have little to no chance this week. They give up way to many points to weak teams. Can AC lose? yes but i would bet it being 17+ point game.

Brownsburg's Sophomore QB could be the difference maker. He's good. And he has fast WR's that can get behind a secondary that he has the arm strength to hit. The broadcast I listened to on Friday said he's already getting recruited by Michigan.

I would contend there are two in State programs that do......one on the transactional side and one on the transformational side. Hoping some of the football success puts some pressure on the bball program to step up. Who woulda thunk that phrase would EVER be a thing.😆

Completely agree...Plymouth won both of those games and should be proud of that...and I would never try to take that away from them. As a NW fan...I remember a certian year they won State...there were those that thought they shouldn't have been there. I was just replying to your question as to why people are counting Plymouth out. I have no dog in the fight any longer when it comes to making myself feel better about a high school football game. I'm just a fan of the NLC and making weekly observations / thoughts.

I take nothing away from Plymouth winning the last two weeks...bravo to them...and I really do like the direction the entire program from high school to middle school is headed. I think they have a really bright future. With that said...If I were betting on the ponies...Warsaw is the better team...9 out of 10 times they win that game. They shot themselves in the foot. In regard to NW...If NW would have had a healthy quarterback or running back...they win that game. They lost by 4...running the exact same 2 plays on repeat with a wide receiver as a quarterback...and a linebacker as a running back...NW is the better team with a healthy team.

No wonder they show up late.

Aceswild- ask and you shall receive! Here we are with another exciting week of NLC gridiron action. Let's preview some games while I have some time here between daliances! Mishawaka @ Warsaw- Most meaningful game of the evening in regards to hopes of being able to catch Concord for the NLC title race (at least between 2 preseason contenders). Similar styles offensively, but I think that Mishawaka's skill positions are more explosive than Warsaw's. My curiousity stems around the mindset of Warsaw's response to last weekend's loss. Mishawaka has won the last two in this matchup. If you would have said 3 weeks ago that Warsaw could be below .500 in October, there would have been some money to be won. Northwood @ Plymouth- Coming off a HUGE moral victory last week (and covering the spread according to Coach Andrews), Northwood finds itself in a game they probably didn't view as important 3 weeks ago. They are another team facing a chance to dip below .500 in the month of October. On another note- Plymouth hasn't beaten Northwood since 2014 when John Barron was stalking the sidelines with crusted dip spit in the corners of his mouth! (Nate Andrews' first season BTW). Wawasee (1-5) @ Northridge (1-5)- You all know what this battle is for. To be fair, Northridge, according to Sagarin ratings are indeed the highest rated 1-5 team in 4A. This edges out the other contenders: Muncie Central, Fort Wayne South, "On A Winning Streak" Wawasee, Shelbyville, Evansville Central, Bedford North Lawrence, Highland, Charlestown, East Chicago. However, a win for Northridge puts them into the 2-5 category which gets teams that are currently 2-4 involved such as FW Dwenger and Pendelton Heights!
