My latest blog inspired by some special people in my life who are hurting. Very grateful that gridirondigest.net allows me to post my work. Hope you enjoy. RG https://www.ronglodich.com/author-blog/lifes-first-gut-punch4 points

Thanks for sharing. They did get it right. This PSK part of this is the same, but there is a difference in one aspect of enforcement between NFHS and NCAA. The R originally announces both fouls and doesn't indicate one was declined. If A accepts the blind side block, the penalty would be enforced from the previous spot with an automatic first down (that is one big difference...NFHS would not be an automatic first down, and since it was 4th and 19, the replay of the down would be 4th and 4 at the A31). If A declines the blind side block, they'll get a 1st and 10 at the B45 (same in HS). After either choice, they will enforce the unsportsmanlike conduct against A moving the 1st down back to the A40. This appears to be what they did, but the broadcast never shared the BSB was declined. That was a smart move by the coach. Another minor difference for NFHS is the late hit would be a personal foul. NCAA considers late hits that have nothing to do with the plan as unsportsmanlike conduct so it can be a counter toward ejection.3 points

So you're definition of 'harder hitting team' really just comes down to who has more rushing yards. Noted. I was just going by the number of loud pops I heard from the stands. You really do need to move on from this. You're expending a lot of unnecessary energy all because someone said a team from Fort Wayne hit harder than your Trojans. What does it matter, your Trojans won the game like they normally do. I've seen harder hitting teams by far. I've seen teams with far more talent. I've also seen plenty of teams that play with more tenacity than Center Grove. But I do admire how the Trojans punish you with precision every play. They are very well coached.2 points

You have the Beef House, eagles at the power plant and the boner pill factory. Way better than Kansas!2 points

It’s disappointing. But, in an attempt to make something positive out of it, I think it’s likely this play will be included in the weekly Training Video distributed by the Indiana Football Officials Association. It reaches about 700 or so officials, so we’ll try to make it a teaching moment.2 points

Oh no the DAC is garbo I’m not arguing against that at all It’s just the best team in all of Fort Wayne would probably finish 3rd in that conference. Maybe 2nd if Merrillville pulled their usual and crapped the bed in a big game1 point

100% the pre season incident is the cause of the train wreck of a season. All the other stuff is noise1 point

they could get ranked in the top 25 if they beat portage 🙄 thats all it takes apparently1 point

Consistently mediocre. Sparty has talent, reason they do nothing come tourney time is their line play.1 point

Yeah the DAC is trash but let’s get back to the real issue here: Snider has a lower Sagarin rating than Lake Central and LaPorte LMAO1 point

Nice question. My response is limited to high school rules. First, you address the live ball foul by R. Because K legally recovered the kick, this is not a post scrimmage kick foul. So, K’s options are to decline the penalty and keep the ball, or accept the penalty and replay the down after enforcement of the penalty. Your hypothetical did not specify the exact nature of the penalty “illegal block,” so I can’t tell whether enforcement would be 10 or 15 yds. Now you address the dead ball personal foul on K. We’re going back 15 yds. and it will be 1st & 10 for K there. Sounds like they got it right.1 point

Fairly certain ec has more state titles than the whole dac in the last decade Therefore SE > NWI Why cant we just be honest about nwi teams Crown point would make an excellent 4a contender year by year provided cathedral didn't get dropped back down And merrillville will send 46 guys to the nfl and win a regional title most years1 point

Northrop is apparently benefiting from the new transfer rules. They're also led by a former Snider players and coach who talented kids really seem to gravitate toward. He's an offensive minded coach. Lots going on at Snider. Down tick in talent, pre-season "incident," and the campus is an utter train wreck with the construction of the new stadium.1 point

Why the King hate? He’s a good Christian man. Is it Sander’s coaching or Kevin Allen’s money and recruitment skills? Got a text I needed to check out the ol GID today.1 point

I guess..... Some sort of Building Trades program, some sort of Ag program, and now, a town that is struggling at times for affordable housing and losing population has added yet another elementary school option called HARVEST CHRISTIAN to go with the Catholic elmentary school as well. So in general, no impact to a good. Do not see RCHS getting into the 500's anytime soon as a HS. I think we are somehwere around 415 right now....... Sweet, I keep the Region card !!!1 point

This may sound crazy yet the rise of their girls flag football may be leading a south side football resurgence. Guys attending their games and the excitement about football seems to be at an all time high. The amount of players that came out this year is the most I had seen in the past decade. Archers always had a couple talented guys at skill positions and this year seem to play with a little more pride with their new fans. A quote from a movie as a coach led is dreaded team onto the field "And let us not forget, that your lady friends will be watching!"1 point

Despite being in the southeast corner of the state, I’ve followed the SAC closely since 2014. It’s always fun to see how it turns out because there are some perennial powerhouses as well as several other consistently strong teams. The three things that have surprised me this year are Snider’s huge drop-off, Northrop’s rapid rise, and South Side not being the easy win they’ve been in the last 10-15 years. Usually they get slapped around by 28 or more but they’ve kept it relatively closer in their losses aside from Carroll.1 point

I like it, Sac just opened up the conference schedule, this idea may take another decade or so. Problem with the haves and have nots may not be as glaring then with youth football going in another direction. Gate revenue for the bottom tier teams were one of the main reasons certain schools continue to play revered programs. Just adding in another non-conference game and using logistics to work out the last two weeks could create some excitement within the city. Crazy thing is this year, the only absolute wins were concordia and wayne.1 point

I do root for them as I have a close friend whose sons play/played there, but they are not my favorite by any means, I'm a LC boy through and through, but I don't have much ties to the program anymore. I just don't think they are really "overrated" and I think your hate for them is pretty unwarranted. Since Shanley has taken over they've beat Westfield, Noblesville, Lawrence Central, Crown Point, smoked Avon last year (who beat Ben Davis the next week), almost beat Chatard this year, and came within 2 points of beating FW Carroll in Regionals (who beat HSE next week en route to a state appearance). Are they better than most of those teams on a yearly basis? Besides Noblesville, probably not. But they are pretty solid dude, I really don't know why you dislike them so much. They play a crappy schedule obviously and have very few chances to compete against high-quality opponents, but thats not their fault. And for the record, in regards to your 5a rankings, I think New Pal and Cathedral would beat them, likely Merrillville and maybe East Central too. I see Concord as a toss up and would favor Jeff over Plainfield and Bloomington South (who have no good wins just like Jeff). Their game against Chatard is free on ihsaatv, go watch it if you'd like.1 point

Unbiased outlook from the Northeast: Jeff does no worse than 6-5 vs your 15-25.1 point

Snider (although they’re really down this year), Dwenger, and Carroll are the most consistent. Homestead was a powerhouse up until they fell off a few years ago but they’re decent this year. Northrop is typically terrible but they’re loaded this year. North Side is pretty decent this year as well.1 point

Here’s a scenario. Just spitballing here. Three non-conference games to be played weeks 1-3. Four divisional games to be played weeks 4-7 (2 home and 2 away). Week 8 is the SAC championship with the other teams playing their counterparts. One division hosts the other (Division B hosts odd-numbered years. Division A hosts even-numbered years.) Week 9 is cross-divisional games based on the divisional standings. Division A champ vs Division B runner-up Division A runner-up vs Division B champ Division A 3rd place vs Division B 4th place Division A 4th place vs Division B 5th place Division A 5th place vs Division B 3rd place Whichever division hosted the week 8 games now goes on the road for the week 9 games. Other ideas for week 9 could just be that you play a cross-divisional game against a predetermined opponent. Example below. Division A: Snider, Dwenger, Luers, Northrop, Concordia Division B: Carroll, Homestead, North Side, South Side, Wayne Each team is given a pre-determined list of three teams each for a potential week 9 opponent. The opponents are listed in order of priority. Highest priority is the team listed first and the lowest priority is the team listed last. Snider - Homestead, Carroll, North Side Dwenger - Carroll, Homestead, Wayne Luers - South Side, Wayne, Homestead Northrop - North Side, South Side, Carroll Concordia - Wayne, North Side, South Side Carroll - Dwenger, Snider, Northrop Homestead - Snider, Dwenger, Luers North Side - Northrop, Concordia, Snider South Side - Luers, Northrop, Concordia Wayne - Concordia, Luers, Dwenger Let’s say the division standings are as follows after week 7: Division A 1. Dwenger 2. Luers 3. Snider 4. Northrop 5. Concordia Division B 1. Carroll 2. Homestead 3. North Side 4. South Side 5. Wayne Therefore, in week 8, you have the following games: Dwenger at Carroll for the SAC title Luers at Homestead (2nd place teams) Snider at North Side (3rd place teams) Northrop at South Side (4th place teams) Concordia at Wayne (last place teams) Then, for week 9, you schedule match-ups from each team’s pre-determined opponent list that avoids a repeat match-up from week 8. Carroll was listed first (top priority) for Dwenger but Dwenger played them in week 8. Therefore, you go with the #2 priority team for Dwenger which is Homestead. Because Homestead is playing Dwenger in week 9, Snider is scheduled their #2 priority team which is Carroll. Luers played their #3 priority team (Homestead) in week 8. However, they can’t play their #1 priority team (South Side) because Northrop would have to play North Side which leaves Concordia with Wayne (who they already played in week 8). Or Luers playing South Side would mean Concordia plays North Side but that also doesn’t work because Northrop’s three pre-determined opponents are already schedule. So Luers would have to be scheduled their #2 priority opponent (Wayne) to make the rest of the schedule work. Northrop gets North Side (#1 priority opponent) and Concordia gets South Side (#3 priority opponent). Week 8 gave us Division A at Division B so week 9 gives us Division B at Division A. Homestead at Dwenger Carroll at Snider Wayne at Luers North Side at Northrop South Side at Concordia1 point

In this case, the player suffered a substantial injury his sophomore year that cost him not only most of his football season, but nearly all of the basketball season. He had a scholarship offer from Matt Painter the summer before his junior year, and there is - for big-time recruits - a LOT of money at play they're risking. As I said, he'll likely be Mr. Basketball this year and probably has a very large NIL contract waiting for him at Purdue he doesn't want to risk by suffering another major injury. I fully understand why he decided to quit football.1 point

So was Allen Iverson, but he still played football. Worked out okay for him...from a sports standpoint at least. I hate this idea of "focusing on a sport." That's BS. You can play football and then go in the gym and get 1,000 shots up after. If you are really that good, you aren't going to just forget how to play basketball overnight. Is there a risk for injury, yes. There's a risk for injury walking in and out of your door everyday for school or work. There's a risk of injury walking up and down the stairs in your house everyday. High school is the only time you get to do multiple sports most times than not. College is for "focusing on a sport". It's ridiculous that coaches and parents let their kids think this way these days. Sorry for getting off topic. Just rubs me the wrong way seeing ATHLETES not being ATHLETES and just being basketball players or being football players or baseball players and not being ATHLETES. If I were a college coach for any sport I would want athletes because those are always the fiercest competitors, guys that want to win at everything they do. Again sorry for my off topic rant. Proceed with sustainability lol1 point

This Panther team is better coached, and much more physical/athletic than that NV team. RP would've beaten them by 2 scores.1 point

It's very obviously not a ranking of who he thinks the best 25 teams are, similar to how cfb polls work to an extent. This poll would be extremely boring and repetitive week-to-week if he was posting who he thought the 25 best teams are1 point
