This is usually a real good one! Last year's game will be hard to top, a 49-45 Irish win. This has been a tough week for me as I, and Cathedral, lost a good friend. His name was George Speckman and he had a short battle with cancer and passed away last week. A lot of us will miss George! And I had two doctor's appointments that have worn me out, and I may not make it to Center Grove tonight. I haven't made that decision yet. And, on a good note, today is the 18th anniversary of my colon cancer surgery. I had 5 ft. of my cancerous colon removed October 3rd, 2007. It's hard to believe I can even do what I'm capable of doing nowadays. Cancer is a terrible thing!

Bloomington South 55 Columbus North 24 (final) The subs played out the last three minutes of the game. This game looked like it might be a shootout with the Bull Dogs scoring two TDs in the 1st qtr as the Panthers were giving up too much cushion to the Bull Dog receivers, but once they tightened that up, the Panthers pretty much dominated the game on both sides of the ball.

My old shop teacher used to say: ”Now boys, when you start getting serious about a girl, take a good hard look at mom. Cause in about 30 years that’s what you’re going to have. Always remember that boys.” I’m not going to lie, a rare Friday night at home for me….. I could get used to this. I am listening to the Owls/Panthers on the radio.

Per my pick, I’m confident FC can overcome all the obstacles that have been placed in front of them……but the Dazzler loss will no doubt cast a long dark shadow over the halftime show.

Ok Rotney, I will bite since you can’t spell Snider right. Anyways, talking crap about Snider this year is keeping it real, just like when I have touted them when they are state champions. Some people here just piss and moan and add nothing to the conversation, others contribute something worthwhile to have a decent discussion. Where do you land? Hell, we know where Scarab lands, in that pile of 💩in the corner

New Castle's enrollment trends are similar to Rushville's one county to the south. They'll likely be 3A within the next couple of cycles. They'll likely dominate this league in boys basketball, but be competitive in other sports. Lapel - with a LOT of Anderson transfers (about 1/3 of their district's student body comes from out-of-district, and most of those are Anderson transfers) punches way above its enrollment weight. New Castle will be competitive in this league, but they won't dominate it. And that's what you want - a league full of schools that are competitive with each other in most sports. New Castle may have a leg up in boys basketball, but I don't see any other truly dominant teams (possibly Lapel in girls golf).

At the board meeting last year when New Castle said they were considering a conference change, their longtime broadcaster (and all around great guy) John Harp said "I'd love to get a conference together with Connersville, Rushville, Centerville, Northeastern, Delta" (and I believe he mentioned Richmond and Muncie Central, too, but my memory is fuzzy). Their AD said "I've already been in contact with all of those schools." That seemed to be the genesis of this new league. Obviously, not all were interested, but New Castle was the driving force. Eastern Hancock is an independent in football right now and the quality of opponents in other sports in the MEC varies wildly from very good (like Wapahani) to not-so-good (like Union-Modoc). Even though they'll be a small fish in this pond, they feel they'll be competitive. Lapel has been an independent for quite a while since leaving the ICC, and Shenandoah has also been an independent for a while. And Northeastern/Centerville have largely outgrown the TEC. The other thing with EH is, while it's a very rural district, it is benefiting from the growth of Greenfield (which is on the fringe of Indy's metro growth on the eastside). Greenfield isn't growing as fast as the Mt. Vernon and New Palestine districts, but it is seeing some growth. However, a lot of those students are finding their way to Eastern Hancock - about 20% of EH's student body lives in the Greenfield-Central district (and another 15% or so lives in the Knightstown district ... 40% of EH's student body is transfer students). Of the schools listed, EH, Shenandoah and Lapel were all part of the old White River Athletic Conference, which was at one time a really big, solid league, but gradually lost members to other conferences and soldiered on as a five-team league with Wes-Del and Knightstown for a while from the late 1990s until 2010. This feels a bit like a re-formation of that league.

KV plays 2a RCHS and 2a Wheeler every year and used to play NN as well. KV is 4a and has always been 4a in all my years involved in Football As everyone is aware classification is just 1 of MANY factors that goes into schools success or lack of success.

There was a lot of craziness from the Colts that you don't see much in high school football. It's evident there wasn't enough concern about fundamentals during this game. This falls on the entire coaching staff, not just the head coach. More attention to detail is not too much to ask from an NFL staff.

We can agree to disagree on this. Spoke with a former coach before the season who said "well, we just aren't that good this year". I will meet u in the middle and say 50% is just noise.

I'm told Rushville and Connersville were invited, but chose to stay in the EIAC. Jay County has said "no." So, if the three accept invites, they'll be a seven-team league. The Hoosier Heritage will likely expand to replace the lost teams, as they'll be down to 5 if Delta leaves.

I don’t think a 4A school has any business with a bunch of 2As. I like how the Hoosier Crossroads and Northwest Crossroads have survived with a similarly sized members, with one exception: Andrean, which is 2A. They don’t play like it though…

Think it hurts Myles that by the end of the regular season, 3A Knox will have played 4 1A level schools. Think post season success will be huge for Myles to get the award.

I spoke too soon when I said that the Bloom. South/Col. North is for the CI championship. Only South can clinch that championship with a win since Col. North still has games left with Bloom. North and TH South. I also saw that South running back Braylen Townsend will play against the Bull Dogs barring a setback before the game, so South will have their 1-2 punch in the backfield. Townsend has missed the better part of two games because of a gimpy ankle and has 643 yards and 12 TDs on the season in four games and part of the 1st qtr in another game, while Shaun Cooper has 724 rushing yards and 13 TDs while playing in all six games this season. I saw an update today on South QB Duncan Combs and he is currently connecting on 78 pct of his passes on the season so far. Bloom. North QB John Bargan has passed for 920 yards and 10 TDs in five games so far this season.

So Penn will still need local games. But playing all three SB schools in a given season is not sustainable. Penn I think should keep Valpo and Mishawaka ( I would move Waka to game 9) 1 - Valpo 2 - HCC or MIC team 3 - Fort Wayne School 4 - SB School (3 year rotation) 5 - Elkhart 6 - St. Joe/Marian (2 year rotation) 7 - Michigan school (OLSM or Brother Rice) 8 - Cathedral or Ohio team. 9 - Mishawaka Weeks 4-8 can be interchangeable. I understand conferences have their specific number of conference games, I think that the NLC/Mishawaka could understand why saving Mishawaka for week 9 is the best option for the two schools and area. The draw a Penn Mishawaka game would have if both are undefeated at this point would be huge. People would actually be talking about Northcentral Indiana football in a relevant way again. Penn depending on the Indy area team they play, the Fort Wayne game, and the week 7 and 8 games could easily be a 4 loss team any given year. But, we will actually know what Penn has going into the playoffs. Same could be said for Elkhart.
