Just saw on the morning news that the reason Roncalli is dropping it's nickname, "Rebels" is due to someone is claiming it is tied to the Confederacy in the civil war. Unless I am mistaken, rebels was the term applied to the colonists during the revolutionary by the British. So do we try to cover up the revolution and pretend like it never happened too? This is another fine example of how common sense is all but dead in our society today. What's next? I"m guessing Patriots will be the next banned nickname. What about animal activists demanding schools/programs dropping the animal nicknames because someone will claim it's offensive to dogs and cats everywhere??? I hope Roncalli sticks to their guns and keeps their nickname. Maybe they have other issues to work on, but their nickname is NOT one of them.

Also bring in the aspect of officiating. If the officiating crew is told they also need to quarantine for 14 days because the school's, county's, local health official's policy is to mandate quarantine for those who have been in contact with a student who has tested positive. Can the officiating community afford to take 14 days off of their real life job to make $70-$80 on a Friday night. Just thoughts to ponder.

Tipton got hit hard by injury bug last year, I know they are excited to get that group back together I think Hamilton Heights makes a step this year, they too were hit with some big injuries early in the year to some skill players. LCC playing with a lot of confidence, as they should, new DC there, talented JV squad last year joins the ranks, QB will have even more experience under his belt to run Coach Nay's system. What does new coach at Twin Lakes bring with him from Carroll, known for some Quad formations, will it be a mix bag of fun?? Spoiler alert: Bombers are going to line up in double tight formation, single wing, shotgun. same ole same ole 😀

Who are the guy that you think will be breakout players for your team this year? For Pioneer, I expect junior Brock Robinson to be a 2-way stand out at DB as well as at running back. He will be competing for touches with the Lewellen boys, but is very good with the ball in his hands. Pioneer will also be starting freshman Cayden Hill at QB and potentially at DB as well. He has some maturing to do mentally, but should be able to help out more and more as the season progresses.

Logan Murfin for Gibson Southern he finished last year among the other WRs with.... 28 receptions (4th on team) 502 yards (3rd on team) 6 touchdowns (3rd on team) very solid year but he had 3 very talented Seniors to battle with for targets and was productive in the reps he did get rotating in. Now that they have graduated, he seems primed to take over as one of the top targets. We all know about Brady Allen and how good of a QB he is, so with easily 130+ targets becoming vacant. He is a senior so it’s more/less a later breakout but he had a very productive year last year none the less and should improve greatly upon his performance. who knows though. Gibson Southern could find themselves throwing a lot more this year with the new schedule. In the game against Southport they passed the ball 30 times. I could see the titans throwing it more than 300 times this year without the need for a deeper playoff run. should they make it as far as LOS I think 400-500 pass attempts is well within range...which is A LOT for a high school team. So with this might see some of the other kids get a lot of volume and breakout. But I like this Murfin kid.

Bold prediction (considering all the negativity being spread) - There WILL be high school football games on August 21st!

If there is football I expect schedules will be modified week by week. Week 2 a school will cancel their season due to health concerns. Week 4 and 5 4 teams will have to forfeit because they have too many key players out. On Sunday teams who don't have an opponent the following week will pair up to play. They'll play either Thursday, Friday, or Saturday depending on when they can get officials. There could be a similar issue with officials cancelling before the season or losing games throughout the season.

I am awake. You have your head not in the sand but up your a##. The lives of African Americans are being taken and we say it is for safety. Meanwhile our federal government is taking a stand that the Confederacy something to celebrate and that we should send in our stormtroopers to stop protests. LAW AND ORDER. RIGHT? Yet students standing up for the LIVES of their African American teammates/classmates is wrong? My corner of the world has a lot of @Temptationin it. The death rate of the virus isn't the only thing that is concerning. If ICU beds are used for COVID what about the people who need them for other illnesses? Sorry we are out of beds.
