  1. The last time I was at Boonville for a football game was 75 years ago in 1945. That undefeated Miner team beat a strong Boonville team 20 - 6. Not sure but I think that was the only time Linton played at Boonville. I was a LHS freshman.

  2. Mike's a nice man and a whale of a football coach. Mt. Vernon is lucky to have him.

  4. It’s not officially “crazy” unless the band is involved. Here’s the standard by which all others are measured ... and found wanting.

  5. In the closed conference with only Bosse and Harrison basement dwellers (Vincennes maybe just adjusting to the constant competition, but still respectable), the SIAC is full of games with real conference implications every week. Reitz. Castle, Memorial and Mater Dei can shake up the standings if something happens like North not clicking in Week 1. Should be an interesting race to watch. Hump Week!

  7. The Central-Reitz game should be interesting too with Brickey being the QB for Reitz and their 6'4 receivers. But Central's speed will be dominate that game, the Madison kid is an force to be reckoned with

  8. The drop off in Baugo started just prior to Sharpe leaving. Demographics have changed and kids are not committed like before. Same thing happened in Bremen.

  9. Linton has 4 different backs who can go for 100+ on any given night. I believe last week no one went over 100 but I believe everyone had 60 - 80 yards. So you just can't key on one back. The passing game is coming around now with Hunter Gennicks at QB. No 200 yard passing games yet, but enough to keep the defense honest. So I expect Linton will score and this could very well be a shootout. Last week Edney from North Vermillion had some nice runs but he only ended up with 90 yards unless I am mistaken. However, I get that Mockobee is a totally different animal. One thing about the Miner defense, there always seems to be more than one guy in on a lot of tackles. Sometimes the announcers have to wait to see who gets off the bottom of the pile to say who got credit for the tackle. Linton is a young team that still sometimes makes young player mistakes. My hope is that everyone stays at home and does their job this week. Every once in a while, someone will over pursue or get out of position and it usually costs the Miners a TD or a big play. If it turns into a shootout, sometimes those are really entertaining games. Good health to both teams.

  10. Thanks Bob! I am real, well sort of anyway! I hate to whine, but when you've been doing something most of your long life, you really miss it. Maybe I'll just show up at Arlington and watch through the fence.🙃

  14. If Linton wants to win they have to either: A) run a track meet and simply outscore boonville B) have 11 hats on the football when Mockobee is the ball carrier. The kids contact balance is superb. He has a slippery spin move and a good stiff arm. He has the speed, the power, the agility.....so put 11 hats on the football or be put on a poster for a week after the game as people watch Mockobee have a top 10 play lol HH and GS had guys in position....it wasn’t enough. You have to have multiple guys there and they have to make a solid tackle.

  15. Rex Mundi was the North Side Catholic school. (Memorial = Eastside, MD = Westside) it was on first ave and I believe it is now still the Ivy Tech building. I have heard that there was not the enrollment to keep it. (My dad graduated from MD around the time it closed)

  16. I am not surprised at all. Mike took this job because he thought he could do something. He's brought the same drive and work ethic he had for years to Mount Vernon, and he's building a monster out there! I couldn't be happier for my friend and former colleague.

  18. Good for them..............and anyone else in the Duneland. Much respect for that conference, it's time for a state championship. I'll be pulling for the Pirates! And how bout Hobart? Not Duneland, but certainly a team The Region can be proud of!

  19. https://spectator.org/americas-struggle-session-comes-to-college-football/ How embarrassing. Herbstreit could have defended college sports as a means for underprivileged young adults, disproportionately black of course, to escape those disadvantageous circumstances in crime-riddled neighborhoods and acquire the skills, athletic or otherwise, to turn professional in high-paying occupations. College sports is one of the best vehicles for bringing Americans of all colors and creeds together behind common purposes. He could have said that. He could have said if America was a little more like the example its college sports programs set on their best days, there wouldn’t be the need for riots in the streets. But he didn’t. Instead he made millions of Americans miserable with his emotionalist micturation all over our TV screens and turned an attempt at entertainment and escape into an involuntary pīpàn dòuzhēng for one of the last bastions of traditional America. Those millions will turn into hundreds of thousands. College football fans will head for fishing holes and hunting leases. College sports is, as Ben Domenech noted, a luxury item. Not a necessity. And the social-justice Left, which ruins everything it touches, has its hands on pro and college sports like Joe Biden on a twelve-year-old. All that’s left is to watch the stadiums empty and the advertisers drop out. Herbstreit killed college football on Saturday. Americans have no patience for struggle sessions. The Cultural Revolution is one thing Americans simply won’t buy from China. Yep. I watched that homily by Mr. Herbstreit and just shook my head. If this is the crap ESPN and the other broadcasters of college football are going to shove down their viewers throats then I'll have something better to do on a Saturday in Autumn. The woods are calling and I must go........................

  20. I vote every election. I'm the guy the guys at work talk politics with. I legitimately did not know who the Democrats were running for governor until I read his name in the op. Strange year indeed.

  23. But we don't know what the long term effects of the virus are. The virus never goes away. It never leaves the body. When you have chickenpox as a child, the virus stays in your body. Later, it can become shingles. We are essentially 9 or 10 months into this virus. Plus, the virus doesn't stop trying to achieve a new host just because it stays as a mild case. Nope. When viruses are vehicles, then your comparison will hold up.

  24. Complete bull shit, but keep telling yourself that. Every single topic that was locked ventured off the topic of high school football...plain and simple. It’s really not a difficult concept to understand. Call it fake news all you want, but here yoU are posting it yourself.......and remaining here. No one is forcing you to stay.

  25. What a complete load of bull shit. There is plenty you post in here that moderators do not agree with, and yet it all stays. Go back and look at the topics. There is far more support for them not having political posts attached and dragging them down than is for keeping them there. Love the part about verifying that no political statements were were posted. Need to have waders on with the amount of shit piled into this post. ....such a snowflake. And based on the number and amount of donations received....go ahead and keep freeloading snowflake.

  28. My daughter was contact traced in another case at Northrop. It was a full 7 days later with no parental contact other than a form letter stating she had a close contact and could not return until a date specified if she did not exhibit symptoms. Oh, the Northrop stories.
