  1. I was near an elementary school out east and there were roncalli rebels fans in the trailer right across the first grade classroom least I think those were Roncalli flags

  2. This is pretty cool if you didn’t see it, unless you’re a Duke fan I guess.

  4. In a game of physical toughness — especially the way it was played back then — he had a whole league intimidated.

  5. I don’t have a dog in the fight and my blood is far from boiling. Just calling out bullshit when I see it. A nicked up Roncalli group will take their ass whoopin like men, and the old Cathedralites can feel even better about themselves Saturday morning scrolling thru the box score.

  6. It was pretty evident that Snider and Carroll had off weeks coming off of their big game. The red flag for Luers is their blowout losses to East Noble and New Haven. Red flag meaning that this isn't one of their state championship caliber years. I have a ton of respect for the Knights, one of the best programs in the state. But this isn't their year to claim SAC supremacy. They'd potentially get mercy ruled by both Snider and Carroll. No matter how you slice it, they aren't the best team in the SAC, not even close. Transitive Property: East Noble 45, Luers 7. Snider 45, East Noble 28.........was 42-14 at one point. No one is saying that Luers didn't earn the SAC title. They did what they had to do and got the job done. But to place them on the same level and Snider and Carroll is utterly absurd.

  7. I absolutely HATE being the "Uniform Policeman"... But every week when I see crews allowing untucked jerseys, and no regard for covered knees (prior to the action), its' a disgraceful situation...IMO. I don't get bent out of shape about BIG guys on the LOS... Who knows what sizes the schools orders for the average sized kid at this time of their life? Tinted Face Shields... Excessive eye black (we play at night mostly....ugh). The allowance of the rib protector to be sticking out, is stupid. I have read of situations where a kid has fallen on that and gotten a laceration of an internal organ. It may seem fashionable to some, but it is extremally dangerous to have it not covered by the jersey completely. Allowing the play card to be on the waist, and NOT reminding that it is to be located on the forearm(s). As I alluded to with the beginning of MY rant... It would be great if crews (officials) just tried to conform to the UNIFORMITY of what a UNFORM should be at this level of sport. I'll just wait for the next 2 weeks to come, and the BITCHING of assignments/evaluations will start all over again within our fraternity, and I'll (wash/rinse and) repeat the things that I say each and every year to them regarding the SIMPLEST of things that could allow them to advance.....far beyond being the UNIFORM POLICE.

  8. Got a pretty good Louisville team to deal with this weekend. But it’s hard not to look ahead to our blood enemy.

  10. Another legend passes. I know this will hit hard for the Bears fans here, especially those old enough to have enjoyed watching him play. Thank God for the genius of Steve Sabol and NFL Films for allowing us to see so much of his and other legends’ careers in such detail. RIP Dick https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/38577860/dick-butkus-hall-fame-linebacker-chicago-bears-dies

  11. I’m not aware of any. Cathedral actually re-affiliated with the Brothers of the Holy Cross about 8 - 10 years ago, although there were no Brother Eugene’s roaming the halls, and the Brothers had no input on curriculum. So it seemed to be more of a marketing play to make sure everyone knew they were still Catholic when they were out speaking to the prospective students and parents of the deanery schools

  18. I just saw Coach Manford at the car wash. I was waiting in line when I noticed he was getting out of his car in front of me. I waved and he winked back, but before I knew it, he was fastening himself with his cleats on into the conveyor system. I rolled down my window and was like "dude that's for cars!" and he said, "don't worry, kid. I'm a professional." A few minutes later, he emerged from the front of the tunnel, hair perfect as can be, and he ran down the asphalt. I heard an attendant yelling that he forgot his car, which was still blasting Bette Midler at full volume, but in the distance, a faint voice called back "I'll get another one. It's Connersville week."

  19. My girlfriend and I broke up because of Coach Knigga. We got in a huge fight over it because I was saying how beautiful Coach is. The fight eventually spilled into other topics and it got really heated. In the heat of the moment I called her a "Connersville Spartans Fan", and it was a wrap. We dated for two years and were thinking about moving in together. At the time I thought she was the love of my life. And it ended over Coach K, And since all of my friends were also her friends, and she was closer friends with them than I was, they took her side. So I lost all my friends too. My best friend called me a few hours after the argument and said he didn't want to hang out with me anymore because it would cause drama. The only person I've talked to in like a week is my Coach K stuffed animal. GO TIGERS

  21. I am not trying to put any team down by any means, but West Central's and North White's schedule does absolutely nothing for them. The MWC right now is extremely weak. I was expecting Winamac to win that game. As for Judson, I have no idea what happened there. I can only to assume that the changes helped Winamac. The play calling has seemed to stay the same though. As for Caston, I saw what happened with the Triton game and have followed what they have done up to this point. Caston playing Triton, everyone said, including myself, that the game was a tied ball game if Caston had not turned the ball over. Offensively, I know that their 2 kids playing LB are gritty kids on both sides of the ball and feel that based on what I have seen from both teams, Caston I feel have the edge on both sides of the ball. But like I said, what Winamac team are we going to see on Friday?

  22. I disagree that the trojans are a top oline and dline unit in the conference. NV and SV both did whatever they wanted to do against the trojans up front also FC did as well. Maybe seeger just isn't as good as years past but since we are here, I guess I'll rank the lineman units 1. South Vermillion 2. North Vermillion 3. Fountain Central 4. Seeger 5. Riverton Parke 6. Covington 7. Parke Heritage 8. Attica Thats it the squirrel has spoken and this is final.

  23. I think I saw that Avon has the best strength of schedule, per Sagarin ratings in 6A, just by that alone, they would probably beat Penn.

  24. You and I, along with everybody else, knows this had nothing to do with the principal agreement put in place and everything to do with Roncalli hitting a down cycle and not wanting to continue getting their tails kicked in. Roncalli still and to this day has scheduled Cathedral in every sport (Frosh, JV, Varsity) minus varsity football. It’s never been about what you’ve just claimed. Roncalli wanted Cathedral to become more “Catholic” in regards to their football roster and Cathedral said, “We’re good”. Roncalli, took their ball and went home and the directions of each program couldn’t have gone different routes. Cowards.

  25. I personally very, very much like @FootballKing16, but as regards Roncalli cowardice (and he loves to long beat that drum), my assumption is his memory is much less creaky than mine - YET he has overlooked the agreement that all the archdiocese schools, Brebeuf and Cathedral generated around 2006-7 (maybe a year either way). As I understand, Cathedral EVEN helped develop it....until they decided they wanted nothing to do with it and it didn't apply to them. At the end of the day, the agreement was that those participant coaches and schools (Archdiocese schools, Brebeuf AND Cathedral.) could reach out to CYO TEAMS on a GROUP basis to promote their schools BUT could not reach out to the next INDIVIDUAL "Johnny Football" ("Johnny Soccer", etc........or the ENTIRE Pike Township Jr. High Basketball ALL-STARS as it might have happened) or his/her/its/they/mutant ninja turtle's parents on an individual basis and tell them they were going to start at QB as Freshman before their brief stop to Notre Dame. From my observation, Roncalli stepped away from playing Cathedral at almost exactly the same time Cathedral said, "Screw You Guys!....we ain't playing by the rules we all agreed to. But the rest of you can". Pretty much a business as usual Cathedral position. Somewhat surprised anyone participating expected anything different. Rules are for the rest of us. I actually have long admired the Rebels for that stance.....at least, until they became the "Royals" (wtf?). Sign me on to @FootballKing16 as to Roncalli "cowardice" in that case....makes me kind of want the Irish to kick their morally cowardly @ss.....almost. At that point, Roncalli stepped back. Seems to me they just decided not to to business with someone unethical....speaking as a businessman. As to hating a school, all I can say is that as an unsophisticated, poor-@ss Irish, kid from the hills and hollars of southeast Indiana, upon moving to Indianapolis some 45 years ago I NEVER "hate watched" Notre Dame hoping they would lose every game in every sport (I actually used to be a fan of Notre Dame).......until I first stumbled upon Cathedral HS while having kids in the Archdiocese. Even better, as an Irishman (okay...German-Irish....I married a Catholic), I've even become a cheerleader of Cromwell's conquest of Ireland circa 1650. Don't let anybody think that Cathedral doesn't influences lives. Guess my work is done here. Me just making friends and building bridges. Its what I do.

  28. Still think they need a "champion/playoff week, last week of season. 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2, etc per each division. Regular season you play the other four in your division, have two cross over games into other division, two OOC games then champion week.
