An old softball coach I know several years back had “COACH” put on the back of his shirts, and of course “ASS COACH” on the back of the assistant coaches’ shirts.2 points

I don't question the work ethic of younger people in society when it comes to referees. Have had the distinct pleasure of coaching ... now in my 18th season ... youth football and have gotten to know the refs up close and personal. Our games are a great place to train younger or new officials and I've been able to see many over the seasons work the trade. As a coach, you sometimes get so grief from parents, fans, etc., but it tends to be specific like "Why isn't my kid getting to carry the ball?" or "How come my kid only played on defense during the game?" Refs often seem to get what I call "drive-by" grief. Usually indiscriminate and almost always based on a lack of understanding of rules by the fans, parents, etc. Sometimes it's just a lack of realizing that, in a youth game, the second-string flanker on the far right-hand side of the field playing slap-fight, patty-cake with the third-string cornerback while the team runs a wide left-hand sweep doesn't warrant putting laundry on the field. I wouldn't say it's a lack of work ethic as I've been quite pleased with the fact that these younger refs are taking time on the weekends when they could be running with their college buddies to come out and help us coaches give back to the community. I've been happy with their performance and therir desire to not just show up, but to do the job right too. It may, more likely, be a lack of tolerance for cr*p and BS from folks who themselves don't have the work ethic to come out and do the job, but feel that their "ticket" grants them the right to be part of the show.2 points

Heritage Hills 4-0 at North Posey 1-3 This is the 48th meeting between Heritage Hills and North Posey and the Patriots lead the series 36-11. So far this season North Posey is averaging 16.0 ppg and giving up 38.5 ppg and Heritage Hills is averaging 41.0 ppg and giving up 6.6 ppg. The Vikings are one of only three schools that Heritage Hills has played in football every season since their inaugural season in 1972. The Patriots won the first meeting in 1972, North Posey won the next 4 meetings to take a 4-1 series lead, Heritage Hills won the next 4 to retake the series lead at 5-4 followed by 2 more North Posey wins giving them their last lead in the series at 6-5. 1972 HH 7 North Posey 6 1973 North Posey 35 HH 0 1974 North Posey 7 HH 0 1975 North Posey 16 HH 0 1976 North Posey 27 HH 6 1977 HH 7 North Posey 2 1978 HH 13 North Posey 0 1979 HH 14 North Posey 0 1980 HH 44 North Posey 0 1981 North Posey 14 HH 10 1982 North Posey 12 HH 0 1983 HH 56 North Posey 14 1984 HH 13 North Posey 6 1985 HH 27 North Posey 6 1986 HH 19 North Posey 18(2OT) 1987 HH 27 North Posey 6 1988 HH 46 North Posey 6 1989 HH 20 North Posey 6 1990 HH 40 North Posey 0 1991 HH 45 North Posey 13 1992 HH 28 North Posey 12 1993 HH 49 North Posey 25 1994 HH 44 North Posey 13 1995 HH 28 North Posey 14 1996 North Posey 21 HH 19 1997 HH 27 North Posey 6 1998 HH 27 North Posey 0 1999 HH 65 North Posey 14 2000 HH 69 North Posey 3 2001 HH 42 North Posey 0 2002 Heritage Hills 39 North Posey 6 2003 Heritage Hills 41 North Posey 0 2004 Heritage Hills 21 North Posey 6 2005 Heritage Hills 48 North Posey 6 2006 Heritage Hills 35 North Posey 0 2007 Heritage Hills 31 North Posey 0 2008 North Posey 28 Heritage Hills 24 2009 Heritage Hills 26 North Posey 7 2010 Heritage Hills 35 North Posey 11 2011 North Posey 20 Heritage Hills 12 2012 North Posey 34 Heritage Hills 27 2013 Heritage Hills 30 North Posey 22 2014 Heritage Hills 21 North Posey 7 2015 Heritage Hills 42 North Posey 7 2016 Heritage Hills 26 North Posey 15 2017 North Posey 37 Heritage Hills 23 2018 Heritage Hills 66 North Posey 7 Last time we played at North Posey in 2017 the game was doomed before it even started, The Patriots had a Senior transfer that was eligible for his 1st game after only playing JV the previous season and sitting out the first 4 games and he found out on the bus to game he would be moved to Center then to make things worse the scoreboard at Posey didn't work and had to deal with facing the riverboat gambler's trickery for the first time and having to have the officials notify the players about time on clock.1 point

Typical referee's sense of humor. I believe the original poster was simply implying that he doubted the authenticity of the rumor.1 point

He has made do with what there was, but there wasn't much that Hazel recruited well. McCann and Hermanns. Both start, at least when healthy, which has been off and on for both. The offensive line is what takes the longest to recruit and develop. His first year recruits are just redshirt sophomores and are getting baptized by fire after having not played much last year, where they had quite a bit of experience, largely due to grad transfers. The jury will still be out for a year or two on Brohm's o-line recruiting, but it is too early to judge just yet. Outside of the line, much of the players Hazel recruited are no longer on the team. It seems as that was likely a good thing, as they were not P5 level recruits for the most part. This team is very young and injuries are killing what little experience they do have. The talent is there and will get better as they grow. They may not make a bowl this year, but I see no reason to panic. Look at UK and Stoops. They were very average as he worked to put that program together. Last year in year 6 they were finally able to put it together with a 10 win season, which is unheard of at UK. I think Brohm can get us to the point, it'll just take time.1 point

There was that one part where Rodgers was walking down the sideline towards lafluer and it seemed he was yelling at him. It was a great win for the team but agreed that we started out hot and then fizzeled the rest of the game. Big ups for an actual run game we had but the passing game is not as smooth as I would like it1 point

After after the Chatard/Cathedral game on Friday, no doubt they both win 5A & 3A1 point

Had a chance to watch the homestead dwenger clash..was as good as advertised..HHS reminded me of carroll, they're big, fast, and don't make many mistakes. Their running back just wears you down..i hope the Panthers can stick with their assignments, not miss tackles, and keep their emotions in check.1 point

The first 3 drives were as impressive as anything we have seen from this team in years. The defense is legit though. They were on the field a LOT, and held that offense to 16 points....impressive. I liked seeing pressure put on Cousins. Not sure what happened to the offense as the game wore on though. The first drives, Rodgers was firing lasers, but it was a mix of deep routes and underneath routes. The running game was solid as well. On a side note, I do think there was some obvious tension between Rodgers and LeFleur. The offense has a lot of work to do. I could not see what was happening in the secondary, but Rodgers was holding the ball way too long. Was it good coverage? if so, there is a LOT of work to do. They got away from throwing underneath as the game went on as well. A hallmark of the Homgren era was "just move the chains" would still work in today's game. One final observation; there were a LOT of flags thrown against both teams.1 point

Stinky, Stink, Stink 1.2.3. The crew walked into the bar.... and who did we see???? It was this little bull-dog drunk as can be.1 point

Heard they may have switched QBs. If so I think Bender the sophomore makes NP more prolific.1 point

Stinky, Stink, Stink 1.2.3. you all might want to consider the Tigers as they are destroying teams. But if not, that is okay...under the radar is where STC will make his hay!1 point

Munster did not have a JV team last year: Legit, no JV team Wouldn't that put them on the contraction watch ?1 point

Now? They have a great QB and have great skill players....from my understanding they threw it 2 times vs Columbus north and then they opened it up vs GS throwing for almost 400 yards. From my understanding...the Brevin Jefferson kid played in his first game of his high school career...and what a debut for 9 catches 221 yards. Probably a kid who might start popping up on college recruiting boards if he keeps this up.1 point

Much appreciated. The backup Vickers started last Friday. As I said above, they made some progress consistently moving the ball. Best of luck to FC as well! Great facilities over there! Shame we only met the one time!1 point

No, this thread will stay focused on the game and any conference talks will get moved to that thread. Jasper put up more points than I expected against HH, not sure that bodes well for VL; although, the Alices seem to get up for any kind of game against the the Wildcats. I hate cliches, but especially this year, "throw the records out the window" for this one.1 point

I like the old MWC, but I'm glad that Pioneer got out of it when they did. Their schedule this year, if still in the old MWC, would probably be the worst in the state. It would have included Caston, North White, South Newton, Tri-County, and West Central, all programs that are extremely down this season. Pioneer would win all of these games by 60+.1 point

Article mentioned an assigner, do we know for a fact this crew was thru an assigner? I’m not ready to assign blame until we have a lot more info, but with today’s communication technology, this sort of thing should NEVER happen.1 point

I was impressed with the Falcons offensive game. I think they will be back at Lucas Oil in November with a good shot to win it all. I don't see anyone in 1A stopping them.1 point

Linton came on the field.. by the look of the numbers they could field 3 teams very impressive. No shortage of players from Linton! Ive got to say the Miners have a real solid team.. they have the ability to adapt to the situation very well. And the guys helping from the press box can get annoying but are a great asset to the Miners combined attack. They were giving great insight to what players where screwing up and who to watch. Let's just say they know the game the team and Coach Oliver is very lucky to have them up there. Both teams came out tough and was beginning to think this may be #2 the Falcons take from the Miners but late in the 3rd and 4th realization set in and started thinking if the Falcons played as hard and didnt give up against A #7 ranked 2A team like the Miners it's going to be a great year and playing Thanksgiving weekend agian. The Miners also have have a good chance of playing on that weekend with so many options of attack I'm surprised they are not 4-0 on the season. In all aspect The battle between both teams was great.. it was a hard faught ballgame and the Falcons found out what they could do against a great team.1 point

Without Mishawaka, there is absolutely no reason for Penn to be in the NIC. That's my 2 cents. I don't know what the optimal solution is though. I just think it's dumb that the two rivals will soon not be playing one another on the gridiron annually.1 point

The Progressive Feeding Frenzy: https://reason.com/2019/09/12/the-progressive-feeding-frenzy/ And they must not be allowed to succeed with their agenda. If they do I suggest Americans who values personal freedom, responsibility, sovereignty, and the future of their children/grandchildren leave the country for greener pastures because the USA will no longer be the the land of opportunity. It will simply, and horribly, become another Venezuela.-1 points
