  1. It's been so refreshing to see all of these bar graphs, pie charts, pivot tables, and every other stat possible. But what do they really mean? Not a whole lot. My guess is that the good folks at the IHS double A will go with the trends, and sadly they don't look that good right now. I want the season to start as much as the next guy, and actually a little more being that my Gipper, Jr. is a senior. He already had to give up golf season and prom, I just hope his last year in high school has some semblance of normalcy.

  2. Keep 'em coming guys! As you know, a lot of the admins and moderators are Coaches, so let's make it easier on them before the Season gets into full swing! 8 out of the top 10 in volume contributors on the GID were donors last year, let's see if we can get 10 out of 10 this year. https://gridirondigest.net/topmembers/ https://gridirondigest.net/clients/donations/

  4. Hamilton Heights had 70 show up for lifting yesterday morning. Not sure how many showed for football camp last night.

  5. I hope that for your son as well. You are right though; all the stats and charts don't amount to much. For each program, it will simply boil down to one getting the virus and how each district/school responds to that. My impression so far though, is that a large majority of districts and schools are waiting until something happens to react, rather than doing much planning ahead of time.

  6. based on Twitter, then entire state of Indiana Football got better yesterday and overwhelmingly excited to "Be Back" 😀 Trust me I love all the positive vibes, but I have only seen one time where a coach posted something opposite of rainbows and unicorns and I thank @Coach Jennings for that a few years ago. Our Day 1 went well. We are taking the slow and steady approach, which I would imagine is what the majority of the state is doing. I think everyone in our coaching profession understands you cannot make up 4 months in 1 day, 1 week, etc.

  7. Great question. I'm less concerned about contact transmission through usage of the endzone camera. A bigger problem is going to be the camera guy's groupies and keeping them 6 ft. away. We all know the camera man has to fight the ladies off, especially if he is filming with the 31ft Hi-pod. We will need to keep them away from him during sectional time for sure. I can see an opponent sending a COVID-positive co-ed to entice the camera guy of next week's opponent to "swap spit" after the game. You know, take out the end zone camera and the battle will be won. No way for them to game plan without those sweet endzone views from the x2000

  8. Please consider a donation of 30 dollar or more https://gridirondigest.net/clients/donations/2-2020-21-budget/ Many passionate folks in this portion of our website, please consider funding this playground for your daily debates My only issues is when these debates spill over into our other sections, especially main forum, when we have a fully dedicated section for it all to go around and around and around. I do get crabby at times because the amount of NONSENSE on both sides that gets sent to me because adults cannot be civil in discourse and communication, not saying everyone has to agree, but I think we are reasonable people who understand how to conduct themselves in a civil way when debating whatever your little hearts desires. Thank You to @Irishman and @gonzoron who frequent this section quite a bit and have already donated. Much Appreciated.

  9. True science is neither “Left” nor “Right.” The fact that you think it is tells anyone all they need to know.

  10. Your characterization of Dr. Fauci’s role reflects your bias. Everything that you’ve talked about happened during the last 6 months. The man has been the director of NIAID for 36 yrs., and has devoted his entire professional life to Public Health Service. He’s been awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He’s one of the greatest scientists in the history of the field. You and the rest of the clueless character assassins should be ashamed of yourselves. Nobody is happy about what has gone on for the last several months. I guess some people just have to have a scapegoat.

  12. Has anyone seen instructions/protocol for cleaning of endzone cameras after normal Friday night use? Picture, if you will: It's a cold, rainy October Friday night. Following a Sectional game, the endzone cameraperson gets a sore throat and a cough. They are feeling under the weather, but this happens during football season with the weather being what it is. Cameraperson A calls on their back-up for the big Sectional Championship. Cameraperson B fills in nobly for Cameraperson A, but following the game, they start to feel sick. They end up testing positive for Covid-19, which they were infected with by using the Endzone camera that wasn't properly sanitized from the week before. How do we avoid this Endzone camera Covid transmission?

  14. Sir, I would like to say that you are ahead of your time, but this is already happening. I watched a football practice in another state during June. They were using drones to film the team portion and the view was just so............magnifique!!

  15. My point was the "savvy" player will just lie and say he doesn't have any symptoms. I wouldn't advocate lying....so don't shoot the messenger here. Just providing a realistic viewpoint on what would likely happen.

  16. If Collier made that decision, he changed it. I attended the Hinkle regional in '02. Edit: What a bad memory. Collier didn't become AD until 2006, so you might very well be right!

  17. 12,000+ is plenty for just about any playoff game. Parking? I don't know about that. But the biggest thing is ISU is in Terre Haute........ not north, not really south, just extremely west!

  19. This is the time to end end zone cameras. We should be launching drones from outside locations and capture footage outside of the playing surface bubble.

  25. This could definitely be a challenge, but if they only added 16 teams and nothing changed on the current 1A/2A side then it's only a net 8 crews. If some of those teams come from the current 1A/2A school the net will be less than that. The officiating shortage is NOT a reason to reject this proposal. It's going to be a challenge regardless.

  28. If you think I was comparing rape to a viral illness, you are simply mistaken. I was comparing the attitude of those who view infection as inevitable with the General’s attitude toward an inevitable rape. The comparison was to the attitude toward an inevitable, but bad, experience. My bad for being unclear.

  29. For everyone's information, Unified Flag Football is a sanctioned IHSAA sports. There is an end of the season tournament with a champion declared. The champion gets all the things other sports get. Trophy and rings for the participants. Unified means athletes (potential Special Olympics athletes) and partners (non disabled students). They are a team, just like any other ISHAA team, in the eyes of the ISHAA. This season, the IHSAA is shooting for 64 teams for the season. We will get there, if not this year, sometime in the future. These athletes consider themselves football players. I will hope the GID community affords them this designations. This year, I will be coaching flag football and I have to follow all the procedures that the other football coaches are.

  30. The current flag football program, per your article, is part of the Unified Program. My understanding of the Unified Program is that the IHSAA partners, at least perhaps unofficially, partners with the Special Olympics to provide student-athletes with special needs an opportunity to safely participate in athletics. It is a wonderful program, but I don't think that it serves the same purpose as the push for Co-OP and/or 8-man football investigation. In other words, the existing flag-football program is NOT a "better option" than 11 or 8 man football for communities who want to support a program.

  31. Agreed. Depends on a what point you believe a fetus becomes a "baby". And if you truly believe in personal freedom then the state has no business telling what an adult can do with their body, or the contents within it.

  33. For those who don’t know. Tricky Situations All empty, as mentioned above you consider those who may enter after you, so you go for urinal 1 or 6. Here you have 2 inconsiderate assholes taking 2 middle urinals, leaving you the only option of urinal 6. Here you have a considerate Bro, ideally you want urinal 6, but urinal 5 is acceptable with good reason, like the urinal being next to the main door, or next to the sinks manned by an overly observational toilet attendant. In this situation you have 3 guys nicely spaced out, urinal 2 is being inconsiderate, but you take urinal 1 and turn your back slightly to gain more privacy. Some of you may look at this one and think "surely it's urinal 1", but you are mistaken. Urinal 1 and 3 couples you with the guy at urinal 2. You go for urinal 4 and stay with the pack. In this situation, you wait or use a cubicle. If you need a piss that badly, you'll just have to man up and take the pain.

  34. Maybe you are basing that on Snider going 2-3 against Dwenger, Homestead, and Carroll last year? Don't forget, they won the state championship in 2015 and was one of the top 3 or 4 teams in the entire state. Snider was also one of the ten best teams in the state in 2017. Let's not pull the plug on them yet, lol.
