  1. You know I'm not sure where everyone is located but I will say this.... I know this isn't high school Football, but I pretty much remained silent through all this on these forums. My oldest daughter is halfway through her softball season and we are very fortunate. I live in a once upon a time COVID Hotspot that made national news during the outbreak! I really feel for all Coaches, parents, and players with High School Sports and quite frankly It is emotional just typing this out and I'm not an emotional guy! My daughter hit her 2nd home run last night this season and it all happened so quick, but when she stomped on home plate it was all slow motion afterwards. Watching the joy and the excitement on her face, and seeing her teammates clear the dugout while the coaches were jumping and screaming, and seeing my wife get emotional while her little sister was going bezerk was truly an amazing feeling and it felt like an eternity to me. I honestly grew up respecting the opportunity I had with sports but didn't fathom the bigger picture. I have seen the fear on these Forums of no season whether its for a senior son playing their final season, or a coach in fear for the kids who don't have much other than football, or a megafan who just simply cannot live without watching a game, or a ref who does it for the love for the sport! I can honestly say I really really Hope this will pass for everyone so everyone will experience that feeling I had last night. After the Game was the best night of the year spent with my wife and kids. All of this was sparked from a competitive atmosphere and I cannot thank the league enough because I will not take these little things for granted anymore. So thankful there is normalcy coming for sports and my daughter had the opportunity to smack that ball! All I'm trying to say is if my city can recover all the others can too! Just have hope the tide will flip!

  5. It should just be something logical and efficient. States would be renamed to the number that they entered the union. So Indiana would be renamed to "State 16". Now the county level. We could just number the counties like our BMV currently does on license plates. So Clinton county would be renamed to "County 12", Miami county to "County 52", and so forth. Then each town, village, burg, etc. would be lettered. In County 12 Frankfort would be renamed to "City A", Michigantown to "Town B", Rossville to "Town C" and so forth. School buildings within those areas would be named with a combination. So Frankfort High School would be "School A-1". FMS would be "School A-2". Clinton Central High school would be "School B-1", the elementary school "School B-2". Street names could be easy. North-South streets would be letters, East-West streets numbers. So an address in the former Frankfort, Indiana would be: Mr. Muda69 123 D Street City A, County 12, State 16, 46041

  8. Complete BS.....I love the game of football, and see that they took a stand. 27th year of coaching the game after playing 5th through 12th grade, I still love the game, so you could not be more wrong on that point. You and I being here in the Northeastern part of the State have no say whatsoever in what Washington Township does, Nor are we any where near the decision makers to understand why they chose this path.

  10. I remember those days, mine were in the late 70’s. A bologna sandwich didn’t taste very good coming back up for a “second chew” after lunch and the second practice in the heat.

  14. We had two boxers that passed away last year due to different cancers. Marciano was 14.5 years and Elphaba was 11 years old. We now have Hinkle who is 1 years old and Stitch who is between 5-7 years old. Hinkle and Stitch are both boxers and both came from separate puppy mills. Stitch is our newest addition. If I can ever get the two of them relaxed for more than 2 minutes I'll try and get a picture of them. 🤣🤣

  16. We are at the end of week 2 with team workouts. Starting next week, we will actually begin to see whether we are seeing breakouts with hs teams across the State. This and the positivity rate across the State and by county will determine the likely path forward. You are correct social media fear mongering is only going to escalate.

  17. Well then, fatty, I hereby propose that, in following the pattern set by 3 of the 13 colonies, Indiana be renamed New Bedfordshire.

  18. Football wasn’t even my favorite sport in HS BUT there has never been anything during or since then (even in my college sports days) that comes close to feeling as magical as Friday nights did those days. Chesney’s “Boys of Summer” comes as close to capturing that magic as I have ever seen.

  19. Agree with the technique and skill instruction. I think that is another part where AC has been blessed and SA too compared to Bellmont. In youth league games, it has been difficult to determine if the kids aren't physically mature or mentally/emotionally mature for some or if the technique isn't taught right. My belief is that it is more mental/emotional maturity as Bellmont has some really athletic and fundamentally sound kids, just not as many as the AC youth programs most years. Why I'm hoping to do more league involvement than coaching. We've had some cases of Bellmont stacking one of the 2 teams and switching which team it is (THE BIGGEST PROBLEM). Since the change the 3 years, Bellmont has made the playoff finals in 2 of the 3 and actually won the regular season last year. My biggest concern with them is keeping the good numbers up (COVID is going to challenge both sides this year if we play!). As for middle school I don't get to see either school play 7th & 8th having to be a step parent supporting my kids in Ohio.

  21. Going to be honest - I’ve never thought that having elementary and middle schools “run” the varsity offense was that important. I know that schools like Center Grove (whose success is indisputable) swear by it but I’m just not convinced. Everyone cites consistency of system as some sort of cure all but it’s certainly not what my kids experienced in CYO and even in Freshman football. At least on the Northeast side of Indy, the CYO programs have no ties at all to running Chatard or Cathedral’s schemes. Heck, not so many years ago (can’t speak for now) Chatard’s Freshmen didn’t even run the varsity system. Rather, it’s a lot more about teaching skills and technique...and making it fun (retention and making it fun where huge for Chatard Freshmen teams). I honestly felt like my kids in Jr. High received better instruction on skills and technique than I ever did In HS. Even so, what happens when there is a head coaching change and the new coach scraps the old system. Bear in mind, there is a 6 year “tail” (Grades 3-8) on teaching kids these “systems” - does the average head coach even stay at a school 6 years? Let’s say it’s 10 years and then he leaves....then was the 6 years for those incoming Freshmen wasted? I realize kids have to play “some” sort of system in Grades 3-8 but wouldn’t it just be better to worry less about whatever the HS is doing and focus a lot more on skill and technique....and keeping it fun?

  22. When you say youth league, are you talking about junior high / middle school or younger? I've coached 18 seasons in the LCC youth program, 3rd-6th, and across that time, there have been six head coaches and an interim head coach. In all that time, we never ran the offenses/defenses of the high school. We actually would check in with the head coaches to see if there was something that they wanted us to do specific to the program and almost everyone of them wanted us to focus on the same thing ... safety, good technique, fostering the love of the game, building camaraderie and working as a team, building confidence, learning accountability, etc. It goes to both the technique issues and also the culture that you mentioned. The numbers, plays, schemes were all things that the coaches said were easier to do provided that the foundations/fundamentals, along with the culture buy-in were sound.

  23. I worked at Sears for many years prior to teaching. Many of the guys spent their down time drinking. They'd often come to work drunk. Let a teacher try to do that.

  24. I can speak for the team I see, but our kids came in in pretty good shape, especially the ones we know will be a factor on Friday nights. We are not changing anything in our practice plan for the next 2 weeks: Keeping our pods, we will also keep our drills separate as well, only difference will be we will have helmets and shoulder pads on.

  27. Then, I guess I’m an old fuddy-duddy. In 42 seasons of officiating, I’ve never called a coach by his first name on the field. As long as I can still get out there to observe, I’ll never address a coach that way, regardless of how well I know him. Aside from the respect factor, there’s another reason. If I call one coach by his first name, I need to call all coaches by their first name, regardless of how well I know them. If you’re the coach of team A, and I refer to you as coach Smith, but I refer to the coach of B as coach Bob, what is coach Smith going to think about that? Given the level of paranoia some coaches have about officials, I guarantee that would be an issue.

  28. The IHSAA has advised officials that they can opt out of working in the 2020 season without penalty. Seniority, tournament history, ratings, tournament level eligibility, etc., for the 2021 season will not be affected.

  33. From what I’m seeing I think Brady just wants to be done with the recruiting process. he said in an interview earlier that he has been doing this recruiting process for 2 years now and just wants to focus on the teams goals. Those were his own words. Notre Dame also has a 5 ⭐️ QB for 2021 committed I believe. From the interviews today and what he has said about Purdue leading up to today....I think he just loves the place and sees himself in a great spot going there. I see no reason to think he will flip other than there is a coaching change....because he really loves the Brohms. it also probably helps that when Brady Visited last year for the Vanderbilt game, Sindelar threw for like 500 yards in that game....which if you have a QB on visit that is like a dream come true for the recruiting staff

  34. With all due respect, you need to learn about the 1A schools you are referring to. Adams Central will pound the ball down your throat and beat the tar out of you on defense when you try to run the ball. South Adams is a spread team that goes full throttle. I'll argue that they prepare Bellmont better than some conference foes they have in the NE8 some years. They have a 2 year glory run while Adams Central has had a 20 year and South Adams had a 4 year run in the 90s and a few smaller ones lately. They can't schedule the SAC because the SAC only plays each other! The problem they've had is other sports not wanting their athletes to play football and focus on other sports. Bellmont is and always has been a wrestling and then baseball school. Get the facts straight!

  35. I would love to find it but your massive library of over 11k tweets is a needle in haystack, but it went something like, "if we are going to post all the good and talk all the good, we have to also post the bad as well" something along the lines about your team workout or scrimmage or something of that nature that had your fired up. I appreciated that tremendously. I want to say it was 2 summers or maybe last summer.

  37. You cannot put Jussie and Bubba in the same category. Jussie's we know was completely made up. Bubba's garage actually DID have a noose; regardless of how or when it was put there, it is a noose. It is the ONLY garage on the entire NASCAR circuit that has one for a door pull rope. His team reported it; it was investigated. Bubba did nothing wrong.

  39. I believe football in that little Adams County is pretty good. Those two 1A's are small competition compared to Bellmont, but they (AC/SA) play some pretty good football.
