If you use the IHSAA state basketball tournament as the example, EVERY round of the tournament is played at neutral sites. 2. The hosting school keeps 100% of the concession revenue, which at a packed facility, which is hosting 4 schools rather than 2 is a considerable amount. 3. Both teams travel because each team earned the right to play at that level and there should not be some type of home field advantage. 4. There is a strong argument that attendance would/could be greater if each team has a similar distance to travel. Plus you add in the interest of fans whose teams are no longer playing, that will want to attend the games between two high level teams. There are plenty of benefits to playing neutral site games.

I believe Attica' changed games were: Wk 1 - RP could not play, Attica played Frontier instead Wk 2 - Tri-County cancelled, Attica made up lost game vs RP Wk 3 - Seeger had COVID, Attica had injuries game cancelled Wk 4 - Attica had low numbers, game cancelled Wk 9 - Attica COVID, game cancelled It has been a LONG year, so those reasons may not be perfectly right, but I do know they were doing everything possible to play the games, every week, despite having sometimes 13 active players. No backups at any skill positions. They are just taking it one game at a time.

I think Northridge has a very good chance of beating Leo in the sectional. Coach Wogoman has gone a great job since taking over the program.

First post here... big time NLC fan for a long time. Always have read posts, but never chimed in. I don’t understand the co-champ logic. It should be decided off head to head. Beating the team you are “co-champ” with holds more weight than the roundabout way of how they have the same conference record, IMO. As for my nomination of “Game of the Week” - Mishawaka vs Northridge will be a slobber knocker. Both teams ground and pound. Easily the two best and meanest offensive lines I’ve watched this year. A lot on the line with a share of NLC to the victor (assuming Concord doesn’t stun Warsaw). Also, shout out to the Panthers for spoiling Warsaw’s chance of outright champion for second year in a row. Last year they did this to Plymouth in the final week. Northridge will have a great opportunity to play against a tough triple option team this week and bounce right back the following week vs Sectional favorite, Leo. Mishawaka should only help Northridge prepare. In all likelihood, it’ll be Northridge/Leo vs NotrthWood in the second round of sectionals.

I bet you John doesn't regret leaving Knox. He is coaching at his alma mater with his brother and brother in law. All 3 played here, John and marks dad was a huge part of the program until his death in 2006. He continued to live in Pulaski County when he coached at Northwestern and Knox. Ill say that I am shocked Knox finishing at 5-4. They were really on par to run the table before John left. If Judson couldn't score on Knox and could only muster 6 points against LaVille. How the hell are they gonna score 28 points on Pioneer.

chopping ur meat during championship week with Spanky Harper first stroke: knox 12 v caston 6 2020 has been an utter disappointment for the knox team. coming off a big 2019, the hopes and expectations in knox were quite high. then Ross Rattkey came to town. wvki’s Harold Winter anointed the knox team state championship contenders in 2020. the only thing rusty will be contending for this year is the 100 meter dash to his next coaching job. knox will be left in the lurch come spring just like portage. it was a fun experiment and waste of a good roster. knox knuckles this one out by a good 6 points. beating: laville 35 v culver 0 culver looks like trash since king left the squad. culver's offense is so boring it makes me want to paint my house with lead based paint, watch the lead based paint dry, eat the lead chips from the wall, struggle with the loss of brain cells and suffer long-term damage, recover fully from the hospital, get discharged, find a quality therapist work through years of trauma and pain AND I WOULD STILL have a better time than watching culver attempt to manufacture points. laville will crack one off on offense and pitch the shut out. smacking around: triton 21 v winamac 14 coach hendrix regrets leaving knox almost as much as he regrets moving further away from mexico lindo. i might be edging my bets, but triton will take this one. busting OUT: north judson 28 pioneer 27 been flying a plane all over starke/pulaski/cass crop-dusting fields. occasionally, i fly over to jasper to check in on them bombers. maybe it's the fumes? maybe it's the roundup? maybe it's the whiskey? but them jays only have one stain on their record and i got them winning this in a close one.

You are asking me to prove that neutral site games playoff games in November in Indiana would draw less but there are not (and have never been) any neutral site playoff games in November in this part of the state so I cant do that.. You've got me there. My case is built on my experience. I only know Indiana and I know how people get to games. They drive or they walk. You eliminate the walk ups if you play at a neutral site and many kids cant drive. They dont go. Its that simple. 100-year old folks (like me) in towns like Lowell and Crown Point go to the home games but not the road games. Some just cant get to road games. Some dont drive at night in bad weather. Some work Friday and cant get to road games at all. Do you accept that bad weather diminishes night time travel, especially by teenagers and old people? That's my experience. I've been to regional games in Elkhart County involving teams from Lake County going back 20-30 years,. Crown Point and Lowell (which have very strong home followings) brought a fraction of their fan base to work night games in November . Everybody does. Take my word for it. Neutral site playoff games would lower attendance from what would otherwise have been the 'home' team at November night games. The IHSAA cant afford that so they would never consider this on a regular basis. And never is a long, long time.

Truth hurts buddy. You found out the hard way Friday. Judson's a solid team with a really good head coach and solid talent in the 8th through 10th grades. You think they are decent now, wait till Harper and Allen are seniors mixed in with Benson who'll be a junior. They'll make this jays team look like West Central. I saw LaVille and North Judson play this year. I thought Judson was the better team and in regards to Knox. Knox strength would be stopping the run and weakness is stopping the pass. North Judson's pass game is better than last year but it isn't as strong as their run game...so it was a good match up for Knox.. When it came to Knox/LaVille.. LaVille's strength was Knox's weakness and Czarnecki having a good night booting the ball made a huge difference and created a mismatch. I also think Rose going down killed them in that game too.

I am going to stick up for my buddy at Fisher, Curt Funk, AND ALL NEW HEAD COACHES at NEW SCHOOLS What a very very tough situation to be in as a brand new coach going back to last winter time. Then March hits and you can do Zoom installs all you want, zoom meetings all you want, that does not replace in person teaching/coaching. So to all the new head coaches as new schools, I feel for you, keep grinding away. But the Covid has been tough for all, but moreso for NEW HC at NEW SCHOOLS.

Nickel Plate in Fishers was by far and away my favorite, which sadly has closed in the last year. Nickel Plate was owned by the Lux Group who also owns Binkley's in Broad Ripple and tenderloin there is nearly one in the same.

Oh boy was I built for this.... Your list is great but a few minor omissions I might be able to help with... Rays drive in is great my go to tenderloin in Kokomo for DINNER (important distinction) hence the moniker.... but a little known secret is a small closet of a place in Kokomo south of downtown called Artie's. Literally a closet. An old timey soda bar and 4 booths thats the whole place, but man they make a killer tenderloin. (during covid spring shutdown arties got by selling frozen tenderloins you could fry at home) But get there early the open around 530 am for the regular coffee in a mug junkies BUT close at 2PM, making it a tough treat to divulge the out of towner's tenderloin cravings 9 Irish brothers in West Lafayette (never had one at the lafayette side location) makes a great tenderloin. Mr Dave's North Manchester comes up on a lot of people's list and for good reason If you like barley pops with your tenderloin, like me, Nickel Plate B&G in fishers is a fine establishment (try the chili!!) Newest on my list is Hilltop Restaurant in Covington, phenomenal tenderloin. maybe because it caught me by surprise or maybe it was the scenic locale of the covington trojan sports complex parking lot but this one knocked my socks off. This begs the question, what are your go to tenderloin toppings?

If Boonville comes out first drive in the spread offense Id be willing to bet that happens. Southridge held him to a lil over 100 yards but that was with Boonvilles mostly backup Oline and in the rain running that same spread offense. Mt.Vernon shut it down on the first drive then the offense was changed.... Heck Mockobee had Negative rushing yards late in the 2nd qtr of the Heritage Hills game until he broke a big one and the Offensive calls where changed after half to get him in the best situation to do what he does. Every opposing team knows he's gonna get the ball.

Touche ... There are certainly exceptions, and most of those are at the sectional level. Beyond the sectional, sites are "mostly" completely neutral.

Shoulda, woulda, coulda... Since Laville scored 42 on Knox, how the hell did they only score 7 on Judson??? Football is a played on the field, not by analyzing numbers.

Anyone want to talk match-ups? In my mind, I couldn’t be more excited to see Caden Curry and the CG front 7 against Owen Wood and the Irish O-Line. CHS’s offensive line averages 6’5, 273lbs. Watching some Center Grove film, I have yet to see an O-Line that comes very close. If Jake Langdon, Seth Mencer, and McCahill can establish the run game, it will be very hard for the Trojans to pull this one out. The other huge match-up is Carson Steele vs. the Cathedral emerging backers (Huddy Miller, Jack Goheen, and Ferrell Henderson). I love our the Cathedral OLBs, so I am thinking Steele will have to run meat-and-potatoes most of the night. Can our gnarly senior captains (Guhl, Scruggs) on the DLine take the double teams? I think so. Would not break my heart to have 70 run attempts combined. I’ll put my money on the jock from St. Roch, Nathan McCahill, to lead the way. He’s a gamer. Mr. Football is at stake in this one too in my opinion. Steele vs. McCahill. What a game!

Let me be clear. I’m not talking about effort. I have no doubt everyone on both teams will give it all they’ve got Friday. I’m talking about things like play calling, formations, defenses, tricks, etc. Most teams play it close to the vest going into the tournament, and I expect both of these teams to have their eye on the real prize.

If it is truly to protect the player from returning too early, why can't the IHSAA give Athletic Directors waivers for guardians to sign off on any liability? There is nothing fair about a kid having to sit out 14 days because his sister had Covid, then add on another 6 days before he can compete when he has been heathy the whole time.

That's pretty crappy to say DT. One of the kids that played JV at Winamac In 2017 is now defending yours and my freedom in the military. That one that played this past year is going to college to be a cop. All four of the kids that played JV here are outstanding young men. If you have a daughter, they are the type of boys you would want her to date And marry.

Can't people just wear masks and hand out candy from their porches? Kids could approach in small groups, even incorporating mask-wearing into their own costumes wherever possible. Keep in mind that the agency just admitted on Friday that COVID-19 is primarily a respiratory disease spread through airborne particles rather than something you can pick up from touching a compromised surface. Most medical experts, and even vaguely informed citizens, have been aware of this for months. Who knows—maybe six months from now, long after the candy has gone stale, the CDC will revise its Halloween guidance, too. Earlier this month, Los Angeles announced it would ban trick-or-treating entirely, but then relented and said the activity would merely be discouraged. Similarly, the CDC guidance is merely that: guidance. Hopefully, government health authorities will recognize the diminishing returns of sacrificing every beloved childhood tradition on the altar of extreme coronavirus risk-aversion, and instead give families tips about how they can trick-or-treat in relative safety, if they so choose.
