  5. I agree 100%. The start time TC set last year was bush league. Here’s hoping MD wins big and pours it on.

  6. Count me as a big supporter of Mater Dei this week. I’ve not wanted a team to get revenge over BS gamesmanship from the year before so much in a long time. Can MD set kickoff for Friday at 4:00pm? That seems fair.

  10. On the Indiana High School Football Fans Facebook page, according to the Merrillville fans, they have 17. They left most starters home for the Chatard game.

  11. The big Jr. DT was recently offered by Nebraska. That’s 4 Certified D1 recruits and 5 mythical. 3 of the 4 transferred from Hammond Morton.

  12. This is obviously a Hollywood movie ala “Remember the Titans” in the making. Rival schools are merged. Fighting at practices (possibly embellished). In fighting amongst coaches (possibly embellished). A blond haired California surfer emerges at QB (definitely embellished). T. C. Williams, aka Elkhart, goes undefeated and ends up in Lucas Oil (definitely embellished)! Elkhart over Merrillville !

  14. Every time I read about merrillville they mention all the players transferred from Hammond Morton. Is this relevant or are others upset they got so many talented transfers? Cmon kids should be allowed to go to school anywhere they want, who cares if they transferred.

  15. Let’s say I agree with your “most physical teams at any level”. In Fisher’s now 16 seasons as head coach they have won 3 sectionals. And who took them out all 3 times in the regional? You guessed it. And none of them were close. How do you justify your claim?

  16. I think Valpo wins this one, but they’ve looked very vulnerable these last two weeks. Injuries and a disjointed season seem to have them off-balance. I doubt they’ll get by either Dwenger or Zionsville next week.

  17. When I was much younger, I used to laugh at my mother for watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy every night. Well, now my wife and I watch both every night when we're at home. In fact we record Jeopardy. We will miss Alex! He was the consummate professional! He was like one of the family!

  19. Have not seen them play. But Mike Kirshner is building the program and the players have bought in. They are in a good 4A conference and ran the table. Sagarin has all 4 of the teams mentioned within a point and a half of each other. Nothing will surprise me!

  20. Man we (PC) were definitely the better team this past Friday. But that’s what happens when you play a bunch of kids from a winning program and it’s just their culture to win. Took advantage of our mistakes. A few controversial calls didn’t go our way but that’s definitely not the reason we lost, we had our chances. Congratulations to WW and go win a regional next week for the PLAC. My son Reece was a senior so some of my passion will be gone but just want to say it was a pleasure playing you all through the years. Good luck!

  22. I was actually encouraged by the fact that their 5 star freshman threw for over 400 yds., and the Irish still won. I don’t know how much more than that Lawrence can do in the ACC championship game. But we’ve got to get there first. Oh yeah. Haters gonna hate.

  23. Luers starting lineup is made up of some juniors and a lot of sophomores. They will be upclining instead of declining in the next few years.

  24. Well, that was fun. I am most encouraged by the fact that Clemson’s 5 star freshman threw for over 400 yds. ... and the Irish still won. I hope that means that - if we take care of business between now and then - we can absorb a big game by Trevor Lawrence in the ACC Championship and still win. Because you know he is going to bring it.

  25. I take it all back! The Irish finally win a big one, 47-40, over Clemson in 2OT's! I've got early Church tomorrow and I've got to get to bed!

  26. I wish I could have met any of you who were at the game... Once I get in that booth... that's where I am! Any by the time I get out of the booth.... the carnival is gone. I didn't even get the chance to speak to the 5 out-going seniors.... but I will send each my customary thank you message. I guess it's sometimes better that way, I just like to look them in the eye one last time in that Miner Uni....and genuinely let them know they are a part of the brotherhood.. win or lose for today, tomorrow and forever more. Yeah.. a little dramatic perhaps.. but you understand if you played the game.

  27. Be "Humble in victory, gracious in defeat"...very nice statement in support of your team, Miner Pride. Classy guy, classy fans, classy program - wishing you all the best next season - at least until we meet again if the stars so align.

  29. And so the Lou Holtzing starts! Man I missed this from playing Luers 3 years in a row. Luers is definitely the favorite but I think we will see a good game.
