  1. For the sake of your sanity I hope this official, with clear vision of the QB lying on the ground with the ball, called the QB down and reversed the TD.

  2. I remember that. Made quite a few highlight shows.

  3. Agree and good suggestion on this being brought up in the pre-game meeting. If he's got his arms up approaching the sideline he's giving the indication there is a problem and the snap is not imminent. That's where they got in trouble. If the QB was just moving sideways without indicating a problem then this can be done. Kudos to this crew for understanding the rule and getting it right. The rule book talks about deception and says there are ways to legally deceive. But non-football acts like this are not allowed.

  4. The xs Trojans @ Fountain Centrals The Woofs @ Attica. Loser probably puts up a goose egg for the season Riverton Parkes @ Seegers. This could tell us if RP is really improved or not. South Vermilions @ North Vermilions. Probably the top 2 teams in the WRC. Can the mega school Cherry pickers beat little brother? My Donnie Baker rankings Both Vermilions RP Seegers Fountain Centrals Little Trojans The Woofs Attica I'm Donnie Baker and I approve this message

  5. Did ESPN really refer to Friday night's games as Friday Night Lights? It's bad enough that they are even playing on Friday nights, therefore competing with high schools for attendance. Now referring to their games as Friday Night Lights? It's one thing for the NCAA to be greedy, but not at the expense of high school football.

  6. Depending on what position I may be working on any given night, trust me I pay a LOT of attention.

  7. I like it! The more teams the better! Maybe some year they'll have an all in playoff, hey Bob?😉

  8. I have no more likes left, so I'll just respond my liking. I like Tom Allen! I ran into him at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Garage Area in May and he was super cordial. I'm glad to see his team get a win. Listened to the game on the way home from Penn Friday night with an IU alum driving, and we were both happy. I hope they get to a Bowl Game this season.

  12. no, not correct. Score was 34-21 at half Merrillville. Merrillville score a td missed 2 pt conversion with under 1:00 minute to go in game to get to 40.

  13. All good points but as Barry Switzer said, " It's not about the X's and O's but the Jimmy and Joe's". This will be CP's biggest issue. Will always have size but not the skill players.

  14. What Crown Point is building (and has already built in a short amount of time) is much more sustainable than Merrillville’s “transfer portal approach.” Crown Point has a better coaching staff (obviously), better SES numbers, has 1000 more students and is still experiencing rapid growth. Stop me when I start lying.

  15. If I remember correctly They go across(weight is a rough estimate being I don’t have program I front of me)? 6’4 325 6’2 300 6’1 275 6’4 325 6’3 295 and they are just big body’s that went against a 3 man Dline that’s went like this 6ft 230 6’1 240 5’9 220 there is a size and weight advantage

  22. He’s been very active on FB. I guess Merrillville supposedly had some coaches suspended due to the Morton fiasco and he used that as one of the excuses for Merrillville losing. Perhaps CrownPoint4Life will appear this week to tell us CP got lucky and Merrillville is by far the better team.

  23. The following is a comment in the NFHS Football Casebook concerning a similar trick play: “COMMENT: Football has been and always will be a game of deception and trickery involving multiple shifts, unusual formations and creative plays. However, actions or verbiage designed to confuse the defense into believing there is problem and a snap isn't imminent is beyond the scope of sportsmanship and is illegal.”

  25. They did fight back and beat a Leo team that is in their 1st year of a 'new" system and HC. 2nd half Injuries were a major factor in Leo not prevailing, IMO. Not quite sure that that gives the Kats a leg up on your scale of "quality opponents". But Leo is a "quality opponent".

  26. Until proven otherwise... Westfield is the TOP TIER team in the North. They were our representative last season, and they are formidable this year also. Having said that.... I have seen Carroll (up front and personal) and believe that they are closing the gap on the Indy Area. But Sectional #2 is a hell of a Sectional to navigate, and let's talk when the Sectional Finals are decided.

  27. Minnesota and Wisconsin appear to be the biggest threats to Purdue in the West but couldn’t get a real gauge as they played FCS team. Iowa once again figured out how to set back football 100 years in their win over FCS South Dakota State. I was encouraged by some of the things IU did Friday but they are still brutal in the trenches, especially on the O-Line. QB missed some throws high early on, but he at least looks the part of a competent QB as he can at least push the ball down the field and has some zip on the ball. IU having two WR go over 100 yards was refreshing given how dreadful the collective group was last year. Still think 6 wins is an uphill battle, but it would have been nearly impossible had they lost to Illinois.

  36. New Pal 50, Yorktown 13: This was a one-score game at halftime, and Yorktown had first-and-goal down 14-7 in the final minute of the half (but had to settle for a FG, then NP's Brendan Tanksley nailed a career-long 47-yarder at the break). NP scored 33 points in about seven minutes, with three picks and a blocked punt to flip the score. Mason Moulton is really impressive - was 24-of-47 in this one. NP's QBs were 16-of-23 for 186 yards, with Danny Tippit throwing for 165. Mt. Vernon 35, Greenfield-Central 28: Marauders had to rally in the fourth quarter but pulled out the win for their first victory of the year. Sets up a big one for the Boundary Rail against New Pal next week. Delta 42, Shelbyville 7: Eagles roll at home. Pendleton Heights 35, New Castle 0: Arabians jumped out to an early lead and it was never in doubt.

  41. Got some tickets yesterday to the Notre Dame - Cal game this September. Coach Freeman announced earlier this week that the Irish will wear green for that game. Made me think back to the very first “green jersey” game of the modern era, the 1977 USC game. I was there that day and it was one of the most electrifying moments I’ve experienced in that stadium … and there have been a lot of them. The Irish hammered #1 USC that day, 49-19, on their way to a national championship. What many people don’t remember is when the Irish came out of the tunnel they were preceded by a large “Trojan Horse,” and no one had any idea what that was about. The idea was actually Digger Phelps’ and Coach Devine embraced it. Probably his finest moment as ND Coach.
