Last Friday went pretty much the way I would have expected. VL giving GS a scare but the Titans ultimately pulling it out. And this is exactly why Coach Hart beefed up the schedule. Making crunch time plays and game winning drives vs TH South and South Warren helped win this game. Anytime it’s a 1 score game late 3rd/ early 4th is a pressure packed situation and GS came through. That is what a tougher schedule gets you, IMO. So kudos on that.4 points

You think that's a coincidence? It seems like an organization that professes to put the "student" before "athlete" might have scheduled the 3A girls game involving 2 Indy area schools on Friday night so the 2A girls game (with two teams from the furthest away) wouldn't have to leave school early and could play on Saturday, but that would obviously require common sense and at least a third grade intelligence level, which no one at the HQ on North Meridian seems to have.3 points

Welp. Only had this happen ONCE. Unfortunately, @Irishman was there and 'kinda' pointed it out. The "wings"...who should have been counting....bought drinks that evening! 😗2 points

Yeah, because that's against STATE LAW. I can't even hang my boy's banner up to scare the opposing team.2 points

I’m just a former player who was no good and hardly played but loves statistics and following the team. I’ve been here for since like 2011/2012 and it’s been the same thing with me the entire time. It’s just my opinions lol like who are you fooling…everyone here already has their opinions of me and they have been set for a while…I’m not losing credibility 😂 I barely have any to begin with. I’m just myself….and I’ve been myself the entire time. and guess what…in 10 years I’ll probably still be here talking Gibson Southern/3A/4A/SIAC vs PAC….because that’s what I’ve done the last 10 years and it’s what I like talking about and debating2 points

Lol everyone on here from GS knows me and knows where I am every Friday night. You on the other hand lose credibility with every post. You might as well change your name to Dumfries Parkhurst.2 points

Not a lot of movement this week as most teams did not see action. Two polls starting next week as I will have a normal top 25 and a top 25 of only those teams still remaining in the tournament. Much respect to the GS program and their well earned success, certainly not going to guarantee a loss or anything like that for them. But I will guarantee that you GS fans will leave impressed with OV and their team. They have some very talented players, are extremely well coached, and play their tails off. They would win at least 7 games on GS’s schedule thru 10 weeks. I expect this to be a great game, best of luck to both teams!1 point

I question the strength of OV's schedule. Not that it has a huge bearing on this game but have they played anyone to be prepared for it? Don't get me wrong it is anyone's game with GS having to go on the road (long bus ride). But I believe that GS is more prepared for this game than OV. IMHO1 point

That is up to Asst. Commissioner Faulkens. I know of instances where an egregious error resulted in the crew’s playoff run being terminated prematurely. This particular crew, by history, only gets one game in the tournament anyway.1 point

I thought this post was intended to discuss current teams, but here goes: Dwenger's 1992 team would have given Ben Davis a run for their money. Luers 2001 could have won 4a Luers 2011 takes 3a and gives Cathedral a good game in 4a1 point

All I know of them is what a great game they played at the Jewell last year. They did have Yoon and Patel (I think I have those names right) graduate, but then again GS may have had a couple guys graduate, too. 😉 The boys on the field have zero control of who they play, but they are winning when it is expected of them. It can definitely be tricky to directly correlate regular season play/record with post-season potential. And getting hot at the right time can be all that it takes to make a big run. All that said, I'd put them in the periphery of the conversation, but still in it.1 point

I took your arbitrary cut of 50% for 6A, to see that that would mean using Sagarin. Team eliminated (falling in the bottom 16)with their 2022 record include Warsaw 7-2 Elkhart 7-2 Homestead 5-4 Zionsville 4-5 Lake Central 4-5 Columbus North 4-5 3 teams over .500 and 3 more teams on the cusp. Eliminating them, what is the true benefit? I am not talking about your personal satisfaction....how does it benefit those kids, coaching staffs and communities? Are you saying these teams cannot be competitive in the playoffs?1 point

The answers above are correct. The question however mistakenly suggests that they were out of timeouts. Silver Creek used their 3rd and final timeout with 14.8 seconds to play prior to the identification of the injured player. He was cramping and up with no stoppage of play to return to his huddle. Had there been an injury timeout he would have exited the game for the ensuing 4th down play. SC timeouts were at 9:04, 29..0 and 14.8 (just prior to 4th and goal) all in the 4th quarter.1 point

Since the first (and only) sectional win in school history, Pike Central has drawn and lost to Heritage Hills (65-7), Mater Dei (56-0), Ev Bosse (83-23) and Gibson Southern (63-6). No one seemed to complain, yet for the first time in 20 years they win and its a travesty. If you can’t find The Fish Hut on a map, feel free to sit this one out.1 point

A format that allows Pike Central and Washington to play in the first round while Oak Hill and Guerin play in the first round is a travesty. Pike Central and Washington don’t belong in the tournament to begin with, let alone have a favorable first round match up. 9-0 Oak Hill playing a top 10 Sagarin opponent in round 1 while two of the worst teams in 3A squaring off against each other (Pike Central & Washington) is a travesty. Make it make sense1 point
-
What does Pike Central have to do with anything? In your format, the Mount Vernon, Ben Davis, Brownsburg, South Putnam and Oak Hills lose to good teams in the first round anyway. Only good teams would be allowed to play in the tournament so only good teams lose in the first round of the tournament. Your issue really is, you don't like that Pike Central won a game in the tournament. Not that those other teams lost.1 point

Right now John Harrell has Laville winning by 10 and 25% percent chance to win state. Highest in 2A. If they had Plummer I would be way more confident, but the backup has done what asked and can make throws if settles in.1 point

How about a shout out to 2 teams last night. First for FC. They put up 41 in the first half then Herbs pulled as many starters as possible with a small lineup. Only 6 points in the 2nd half. And to Attica, not only for last night but all season showing up with a team with maybe 15 players or less and never backing down. They had a lot of BS said about them the last 2 seasons but you have to admire their efforts week after week.1 point

Tables might be turned next year for sure. This year people were saying “oh man tough draw for VL. They did not want to face GS in round 1” next year could easily be the opposite where GS is the underdog and us fans were wishing they were facing someone else. as for the SIAC vs GS debates…they are always fun lol. I think it’s amusing that in season the SIAC fans were hyping VL a lot and VL was giving everyone but Jasper a game. Could have easily been an 8-1 or 7-2 team ……but the moment they lose to GS it’s “Omg how could GS let VL score 42 points” as if VL was Princeton or something. I’m sure in a few years they will come back to this game and say “oh they were only the 7th place SIAC team” for whatever argument that fits their narrative1 point

Back in week one, when Westfield played them at their place, the announcers said the same thing. I know Westfield coach Jake Gilbert said that prior to last week, they were 5-3 with all three losses coming to undefeated teams, New Pal, HSE, and Brownsburg. He mentioned that New Pal was the best of those teams. Guess we'll never know for sure. And Bud Wright keeps on winning. This was his 100th playoff win!1 point

The field WAS cut down a bunch last night. And more people got out to see football on a beautiful night weatherwise. No down side to that, imho.1 point

No disrespect to Liptons but they really haven’t done anything in 2A yet so let’s not say they’d compete for a 3A title. They had their hands full with South Vermilions last night before pulling away late. I gotta go1 point

First, you understand that when there’s a potential injury involved, the officials are going to err on the side of caution. So, regardless of the circumstances, you have to take it seriously, when a kid goes down. If I were absolutely sure the kid was faking, e.g., I heard his coach tell him to go down, I’m ignoring it. If one of the other crew members stops the clock, I’m going to start it again. If they’ve finagled it so that they are going to be able to run another play when they shouldn’t be able to, I’m going to use the “God rule,” and end the game. But I have to emphasize, if a kid goes down, we’re going to take it seriously until there’s clear and convincing evidence to the contrary.1 point

Eastside is a thorn in Luers side, so getting out of sectionals will be a chore. But I'm looking forward to seeing how the Knights do against schools their size for a change.1 point
