Possibly true but I like to hit the reset button after week 1 and eliminate any preconceived notions I had in the offseason. Cathedral and Westfield had the two most impressive wins state wide Friday night over proven programs.2 points

Not only am I a Lamey fan, I'm a Lamey friend. His talents were wasted with slow moving football. He was a natural born hockey announcer and earned the name Hockey Bob while he was the voice of the Indianapolis Racers of the WHA.1 point

Were a lot of fans left to be SRO? I woudn't be surprised if some of the teams who travel well will stop agreeing to home and "home" with Cathedral if the Irish can't find stadiums to use with ample visitor side seating.1 point

Don’t know if it was the case here, but I just want to point out that there are times when something that’s “this easily seen” on TV or video stream is not so easy to see on the field. It’s all about angles. A sideline camera shows a much different angle on this type of play than the back judge has. These officials have already seen the game video. I can assure you that they have already addressed the question of how, from a mechanics viewpoint, they can get a better look at plays like this in the future. And there’s not going to be any reprimand or other discipline. Nor should there be.1 point

Agreed. And I'm thinking they get off to a 1-2 start IN OOC play with North Dakota State, @ Nebraska and @ Colorado State.1 point

Not sure collectively but do know they have an Illinois commit at DT who started last year and another returning starter at DE who lead the team in sacks last year. And obviously they have ND commit Mark Zackery in the secondary who is widely considered to be the best player in the state. But I also think it's fair to say they missed Nylan Brown out there a lot.1 point

That was the case at North Side for years. They just drew a line down the 50 yard line. It was annoying sitting right next to someone cheering for the other team, but it never caused any problems...........that I know of anyway. I'm not sure I've been to 10 games there over the years. They now have visitor seating.1 point

Conley is not on the team. I heard from a reliable source he quit after the 2nd day of contact practice before school started. I am not sure who justasportsfan is talking about with "talent on the sideline". Trust me, the talent is on the field. There was no transfer QB. Vance is the guys, for better or worse.1 point

Thanks. I don't blame NC's coaches for keeping the starters in. They can use all of the PT and confidence building they can get. But, it does sound like the running clock would have held had Fishers kept their starters in.1 point

While it's not what you would call an "Oh My" score, I would like to congratulate Brown County on their season opening win at Owen Valley, 30-21. Owen Valley had blasted the Eagles the past two seasons, 60-0 and 77-7, and BC had lost by some totally out of control scores in those two seasons despite the mercy rule, like 84-0 to Greencastle last season. They have a first-year coach in Tony Bell who seems to have turned around the attitude surrounding the program. The program had been a real mess for a few seasons.1 point

Read through this entire thread and a mascot that is not only the only one in Indiana but the only one anywhere, high school or college, The Madison-Grant Argylls. Madison-Grant is a consolidation of the (James Dean's alma mater) Fairmount Quakers and Summitville Goblins.1 point

Last year, we were a team of mainly Sophomores and Juniors. These boys return with experience, growth and resolve. They believed the whole time. They embrace being a dark horse.1 point

Just pointing out the hype with Knox and falling flat. I am sure that they will use this game, but they did not look at all prepared to handle business last night as a potential top 5 team in 3A. That was the Knox team that has 10+ kids from last season who had substantial playing and starting time. Until they can prove otherwise, I said what I said about Pioneer and their potential after watching their game against Cass.1 point

As described, there’s no fumble, since the receivers never had possession. It’s a “muff.” The result is the same, though. The kickers’ touching constitutes “first touching.” This entitles the receivers to choose to put the ball in play at the spot of first touching, or accept the result of the play. That’s provided there are no fouls during the play. If there are, it can get pretty complicated.1 point
