I am a coach on a team, we arrived to play our game last night after driving in high profile buses in 50-60mph gusts and moving all over the road because of those gusts. We started warming up on the field and as we were warming up, a power line snapped 5 poles and a transformer blew at the school. 75ft from our buses and maybe 150ft from our players and our locker room, in full view of everyone at the field. Power lines on the ground were causing smoke and a fire was trying to start because of those downed, still live, lines. We had parents texting us about downed trees across roads so that we could plan our trip back to the school safely. We then had to talk to our kids about what to do if they come across downed lines, downed trees, and flooded roads because we had 16-18 year olds driving home in that weather. As coaches, we have the responsibility for the health and safety of each and every member of our team. Last night's weather was dangerous for much of those in the state. It's not about how pretty the game is going to be, or how inconvenient getting soaking wet on the sideline would be. It's about the lives of the players, managers, and coaches of the team. Sorry if it ruins your Friday night entertainment, some things are more important.6 points

I liked him from day one. Doesn't hurt to be confident. It clearly spilled into the program.2 points

4 turnovers for IU today....still puts 42 on the board. Not their best football, but still a 2 TD win over a quality for in Maryland.2 points

When I saw the play live, I thought simultaneous possession. In the initial reviews, I thought he caught it and then was forced out after he landed. One view from behind the goal post is what I think is the best view of a catch. If it had been called incomplete on the field, it would be hard to argue that call. BUT, it was called a TD on the field. I do not believe the replays rose to the level of "irrefutable evidence" to overturn the call. https://www.espn.com/video/clip?id=414831002 points

Very good team, got them in the 2nd tier with Crown Point, Cathedral, Warren Central, and Lawrence North. Brownsburg, Westfield, and Center Grove in the top tier1 point

I obviously wasn't at the game. I was at the IU game today. But I'll congratulate East on their win today and most likely winning the HHC title. I've talked to a few people and I've heard a whole bunch of excuses but I'm not going down that rabbit whole. East was obviously the better team today. I'm not really suprised since I really haven't been impressed with the leadership of the Senior class. It's a small class. And we still seem undersized a little bit. 230-240 Lb lineman is fine but we go up against 270-280 Lb lineman on other teams. I think this SO/JR class needs another winter and spring in the weight room. This might be a good loss for FC. Maybe it helps in the Sectional? Good win for East.1 point

Congrats to Center Grove's Eric Moore for his 300th win as a head coach with the victory today. Just a couple of weeks ago, he celebrated his 250th win as a Center Grove Trojan. Legend!!1 point

It was light rain and no wind during our game this morning at 11. Last night we had torrential rain and trees being blown down. I'd say it is much better today.1 point

East might have just sealed it. Up 27-14 with Floyd Central at the 3 yard line on a 4th and goal. The pass into the endzone was intercepted and returned 102 yards for a touchdown. East leads 34-14 with 6:01 left. Really kicking myself for not picking East in this game. I was strongly considering it.1 point

It wasn't the rain that was the issue. It was the high winds. Sustained winds over 30mph, Gusts in the 50s. Indy Airport recorded a 68mph wind gust. That causes power lines and trees to fall. There was a tree that fell on a Puntam County Sheriff car on 40 while he was stopped investigating another downed tree. I drove past multiple trees down on power lines, I saw power lines go down in the wind. Todays winds are 10-15mph, maybe gusting to 25.1 point

I recognize that it’s impossible to discount the weather but having seen both Roncalli and Brebeuf more than once, this is just about the score I would have anticipated in perfect weather. The real “roller coaster” question to me remains, as it did last week, just what is going on at Carmel….not Brebeuf.1 point

The big news of the night is that Blackford scored a TD on Mississinewa. First points scored against them this season.1 point

I live two miles northwest of Ben Davis and it's raining hard, and the trees are really moving as the wind gusts have really picked up in the last 10 minutes or so. It's too dangerous to even be driving to a game tonight around here.1 point

This is the longest psychoanalysis over a three-letter word response in the history of the GID. I don't care that people know I'm Jon Easter, but, since you want to call everyone by their real names, who are you?1 point

Well, the 2 teams have been playing for what...100 years? Representing the East and West sides of Indy metro....yeah, I do think that game means something. Perhaps they didn't play their best ball, but the defenses might have had something to contribute to that...coaching malpractice...well, its tough for any coach to match wits with you......then again, we all are 100% from our Lazy Boys.... Thanks for not speaking on the behalf of CG. Those 3 schools have played classic, hard hitting games amongst each other over the past couple of decades plus. CG knows anytime your playing one of those 2 schools, bring a lunchbox. Certainly not licking their chops.1 point
