Happy 55th birthday to the most exciting college football player I ever saw. This highlight is my favorite. I remember Bo Schembechler was asked before the game if they were going to do anything special to prevent Rocket from breaking one. He said “tackle him.” … So, he broke two. The incomparable Raghib “Rocket” Ismail.

I refuse to root for Batesville until they drop the totally generic Bulldog mascot and change it to the Undertakers.

And to hear Tony Roberts on the call makes it so much better.

I have no idea why there is a purpose for a minimum size. Nor can I imagine wearing a towel that’s 3 ft. long. And no one checks them that closely. We’re busy trying to get the players to wear football pants with knee pads, rather than Bermuda shorts.

I am a big proponent of the Success Factor. However, I would make this one change -- a team CANNOT be bumped up unless they won a State Championship-- you can call it the "Adams Central asterisk". Adams Central football got bumped from 1A to 2A with runner-up finishes in '22 & '23 ('21 too). In my opinion, if you don't have the BIGGEST trophy in your school trophy case, then you should still be competing in your enrollment class. This could be accomplished by simply changing the Bump-Up criteria to 7 points while changing the points earned for being a State Champion from 4 to 5. So being State Champ(5) + Regional Champ(2) = 7 points (Bumped Up). But Runner-up(3) + Runner-up = 6 points (NOT Bumped Up). Fun fact: As the SF currently works, Adams Central football could conceivably get Bumped Up into 3A for the '26 & '27 seasons if they become 2A State Runner-ups in both '24 & '25. In other words, they could be Runner-up for 5 straight seasons (0 state titles) & find themselves playing 2 classes above enrollment.

Not bad for the little farm county in NE Indiana to get 2 out of 3 to semi state. Neither will be favored this coming week. 4 years in a row they had a 1A state finalist. Getting it done! What do you say @FlyingHigh @260AC @Thor77? Small town football grows here!

This year especially for me having a senior cousin cheerleader who also plays in the band with her freshman brother for SA and the Seniors through Sophomores I coached in youth football for AC.

I would say there were slightly more Penn fans than Crown point fans. If the visitor side is full and the home side is 1/2 full, then its about even . Crown point did travel very well . A side note , Freed field is one of the few stadiums I've been to where the bleachers on both sides go from end zone to end zone .

Agreed... And I think more and more people will realize that as well when the brackets are actually set at the end of the season. And then when the portal goes crazier than it ever has before, interest will dampen even more.

I re-read it a couple of times. I still have the same conclusion. Again I will reiterate the style of offense isn't the issue. Center Grove Bantam and Center Grove IEFA have proven that the Wing T not unlike the Power T can be highly successful at the Youth, Middle School, and High School level. The system has to be bought into by the coaches and taught to the kids. I also reiterate that they both lend themselves easily to no matter what the skill type is for your players. It is proven there are clinics on it.

My guess if the Bears had tried to get it closer, there’d be a holding penalty.

I won't lie, I was being a bit facetious in the above post. I do think the Pirates are a much tougher team than Jeff was for Warsaw. In the same vein though, Mville is like a bigger, more physical version of Jeff who has been tested a bit better all year than Jeff was. Either Merrillville runs away with it, or the Tigers keep it close and punch their ticket to da Oil.

Spot on Bobby. I seriously didn't think they would consider a FG... too much can go wrong. I figured they'd keep grinding it out either using the clock to the end or scoring. And man...#1 Garrison was gone... I thought he was endzone bound... and Oliver running his down AND making the tackle without any doubt won that game as much as anything. I did wonder how BC would deal with grass field...that was wet from rain all week. Just as I would be concerned about Linton playing on Turf... altho we have been on turf more this year on away games. Like MOnrovia...the grass field...practicing in grass, dealing with mud... we do it all year. I did see Linton guys slipping as well. It affected both teams...I did see Brave runners try to cut back and go down... I saw McBride slip on the 2 point play and his knee definitely was down... and I know we won by 1 so that's naturally gonna be a topic.. but it was early early on. I agree on the holding call. I see it looks legit, but as has been said.. you could call holding on about every play LOL. It was a killer to Linton tho.. wiped out a huge TD play going into the half with BC getting the ball to start 3rd. Going down 21-8 I really thought that was it. Can't forget the pass play to Oliver that looked like sure score inside the 5 that Hehman jarred out and was a touchback... Jesse Voigtschild # 8 refused to let it be so... altho the whole team responded.

I am only now recovering from Friday's Linton win. But I do know Lutheran will be heavy favorite. Linton will have hands and legs and guts full dealing with Lutheran Speed and Passing attack. We've been in this position before with the Saints. It's just awesome to still be playing....

All of the games I was able to watch were fantastic. Lawrence North was a problem for anyone, Crown Point included. Brownsburg with an excellent drive to win it late against LN. Center Grove and Warren Central was a great one to watch. CP looked better than I anticipated which is awesome! 5A action was good. New Pal and Chatard in 4A was really good! Some real quality football played around the state last Friday!

I don’t think you could say that. Regardless what Center Grove does against Brownsburg (win or lose) they have plenty to build on next year. At this point the Trojans consistently reload. Ben Davis and Warren Central will always have athletes. I also don’t see the HCC going anywhere though they will be good next year.

I assume they are eyeballing it. Could you imagine the optics of a grown man with a tape measure on a football field anywhere near the front of a teenage boy's towel? Lord, I apologize for that there.

Because it is more fair to swap from a grass field to a turf field I suppose. No one can complain about the field conditions at that point in time either. With that being said, going from grass to turf isn’t an easy transition the first time.

If only we had use of instant replay, or if coaches even noticed it to challenge. These are things that happens in games every week. The officials cannot and will not see everything. As far as the grass field is, well, probably the reason we have a grass field at Monrovia(and cost), it just gives us an edge now these days that didn't exist a few years ago. Now that alot of teams all have field turf, having to come play on grass is just that much more advantageous.

Congrats to New Pal. They were as good as advertised. Good luck the rest of the season! Chatard has nothing to be ashamed of, fell just a few plays short. That sophomore class is going to be fun to watch the next couple of years.

AC beating Bellmont 70-0 in sectional would be a funny story to tell your father or grandfather.
