  1. No matter how frustrated I get with some of the inconsistency, once the game is over, I am extremely thankful for those 750 officials. Hopefully we can get that number to grow, or Indiana high school football as we know it could look a lot different in the years to come with not all games happening on Friday nights.

  2. On a given Friday night there are about 750 officials working high school games. They run the gamut from guys who watch video and do rules tests every week to the guys who don’t think about football until they get off work Friday afternoon … and everything in between. If you expect the caliber of officiating you see in the NFL or D-1, that’s on you for having unrealistic expectations.

  5. Me too. We are simpatico......just take the damn field goal against Cathedral....AND play ALL your starters the whole game. That's my short run take. That said, I've known Coach Rob Doyle for almost 20 years (in and out of his life as a prominent attorney....and my kid's coach as well) and Chatard President Bill Sahm in his prior business life (who's word was PURE GOLD) over the 30 years I've had his acquaintance. I'll defer to either of these gentlemen any day of the week as regards their decision....even to lose a game. They are different dudes than most anybody else I've dealt with in my business life....and I've dealt with both. Maybe there are other people out there who act as honorably but Doyle and Sahm operate on a different level. They are teaching life lessons....sometimes.....even to parents. In any event, frickin' hated to see Cathedral pull out the win. Sorry for being a bit preachy....last thing anybody needs to pay any attention to me about.

  8. Westfield stats - 26.4 points per game on offense, 12.2 points per game on defense. Throw out the Carmel game, and its 28.5 offensive points per game, and 9.5 defense points per game. Watching them and looking at these stats, its not surprising that they have a very good defense. They held the "Burg to 14 points. BB averaged 36 points per game. 29 was their next lowest game, against Cathedral. I'd sure love to get another shot at Brownsburg, having lost the two games last year and the one this year by a total of 13 points. Carmel stands in the way.

  9. Lol, Portage? Might as well rest the starters. But if you insist.

  12. Is this honestly a joke? @ThePrince Have you happened to take a look at south Putnam's schedule? They have only played one 1A team all year. I think reality will hit you about as hard as it will hit us this week. Have a Blessed day.

  13. Small manhood? Those words or intentions not used at all. That feeling should remain between you and your therapist. Bragging? Not at all...just simply indicated that I played. If you had, perhaps your perspectives and comments would be different on a football forum. His record against top 10 team is impressive. That was an excellent game and win on the road.

  14. LCC @ Seeger - Seeger is really good and I see them making it to their sectional championship. It's a down year for LCC. Sullivan @ SV - This will be a similar score to last time these two teams played. Sullivan wins 63-12. It's time to get the Wildcats ready for some basketball. Attica @ South Put - South Put wins easily. They better get up early then rest those starter because they get to play one of the toughest teams they'll play this year next week when they face the Mustangs. PH @ Herb's - Mustangs will take care of business just like they did last week. Mustangs are 5-1 in their last 6 games and continue to improve. I've said it multiple times and I'll say it again NO ONE wants to play the Mustangs right now! @WRC123 It's not time yet! Stangs win big! Covington @ NC - North Central wins in a close one 36-30. If it was at Covington I'd pick them but it's not. RP @ NV - The Panthers win this one and we're one step closer to an epic rematch of week 3!

  16. There's not a D1 player in the WRC this year, last year or on any roster currently. There may be kids with size, but ultimately speed separates athletes at each level and there is not a varsity player on any team with D1 speed for any position in the WRC .

  17. Just so you know, ADMIN/MOD team only moderates those who CHOOSE to hit the REPORT button...... So whining about how hurt feelings you have about middle school pot shot with no REPORT tells me at least its a big nothign burger and just more adult drama about dumb college football story that I personally do not care about in the LEAST bit Hope that CONFIRMS things for you as well.

  19. Had to pick a few upsets and Yorktown getting the bye (even though PH should roll through the bottom half of the sectional bracket) seemed rational.

  22. Firstly (if that’s a word), I’m generally totally on board with you….but, hey….nobody can know everything about everything. In any event, Elder returned the favor Friday having lost to Chatard 2 years ago 34-7. Well…Elder being THE NO. 1 ranked HS team in the ENTIRETY of the State of Ohio just punched back. I seem to recall the Elder Coach almost apologizing to Chatard for their submission some 2 years ago. I’ll just simply ask just who in 1A through 6A in Indiana has played a higher nationally ranked out of state HS this year….outside of actual 3A sized Chatard? Lest anyone forget, there are roughly 350 MALES 9-12 grade at Chatard versus Elder at 850 MALES……throughout Cincinnati. Where I might disagree is that this is somehow a “down” year for Chatard. It’s the almost the exact team that took New Pal to OT last year….just a year older (admittedly with some injuries)

  26. sigh Im wore out just dont care about any of this for last 3 years in this particualr case on this particuar topic I read each post with pure TIC of each other...... I am not sure what the end goal is going to be... no do I care.... Take it as a badge of honor @temptation that folks like you enough that they care to engage in banter about these topics instead of just ignoring you altogether..... As my dad used to tell me, son if they are bustin your balls, they actually like you, when people ignore you is when there could be a problem.

  27. This is exactly why most teams don't do this once they think about it. Plus add in the fact there is a lot more than can go wrong with a snap, hold, and kick than just a snap to the punter. Plus the kick is made closer to the LOS from a lower angle so it's more likely to get blocked than a punt. The risk doesn't always outweigh the reward. I think it's more likely a decent risk if you are just outside your kicker's FG range. He/she may be able to get a great kick and score 3 points. If it's just short, it will still be a touchback at the 20 which could possibly happen on a punt. Unlike a kick in college (line of scrimmage outside the 20) or NFL (spot of the kick), you aren't giving up good field position on a missed FG.

  29. There’s at least two. Noah Dodson could play at any level. He’s 6’2 225lbs and he’s a beast on the field. Next would be Foxworthy. Only true pocket passer in the WRC. Best natural QB we’ve seen in a long time. Might not be D1 right now but they could play at any level

  30. Well, we (once again) vanquished the enemies of our blood yesterday. More reason for Lincoln Riley to whine about playing a B1G schedule, plus Notre Dame. Maybe we should let him win a couple to preserve the rivalry. Anyway, the jeweled shillelagh is in South Bend where it belongs.

  34. New Pal and Cathedral is probably the de facto state championship game and even that game might not be close. Cathedral extremely banged up right now but do believe they get a majority of those guys back for this potential matchup. If Cathedral can stay on schedule and not get behind the sticks, could have a decent ballgame on our hands. Team is not built to come from behind with its limited passing game, couple early scores and stops for New Pal could lead to an ugly outcome. Warren would mercy rule Muncie.

  35. Cathedral was down 7 starters tonight and lost another during the game. Elder won the GCL South and is undefeated which means they’re probably a fringe top 25 team in the country.

  38. They have multiple middle schools that play CYO football. Subtle reminder Cathedral existed and was playing football 34 years before Scecina Memorial was built, 43 years before Bishop Chatard was built, 45 years before Cardinal Ritter was built, and 50 years before Roncalli was established by merging Kennedy Memorial (Sacred Heart) and Chartrand.
    1 point
  39. Yes, you are correct. Chatard, unfortunately, seems to have repeatedly ran into some very strong New Pal (2013 and 2024)) and Roncalli (2014 and 2021) teams that sent them back down to 3A. 3 of those teams later winning State, I believe. There is only one team from 3A so far that has managed to also win 4A and that team is Evansville Memorial. Although I can’t speak knowledgeably about 1A and 2A teams, the only other “bumped” teams I am aware of that have won the class above their “home” class are Cathedral and New Pal (4A teams that have won 5A). The ONLY team, so far, that has managed to successfully win its way up 2 classes is Cathedral.

  41. Not an easy task at times, that is for sure. Like, end of the game, our kid INT, no way he isn't going to try to run it back, nor should he just go down IMO, but you could tell after he picked it off, he didn't take off real fast or anything, but he really wasn't being pursued heavily then he took off and broke some tackles before getting brought down at the 1.5 yard line. So it goes
