  1. No excuses , I've been to every Penn game in Fort Wayne since the early 80's . Regular season and playoffs , thinking 6-7 games .

  3. I am an advocate of neutral sites to host tournament games after the sectional round, and I think the football facilities in Indiana are capable of a format with neutral site hosts for regional and semi-state as we have in most other sports. All games would be played at locations with turf fields. This will reduce travel times and remove field conditions as a variable. It also gives schools an opportunity to showcase the investment they have made in their facilities. Here are my hypothetical neutral site regional games for this year. Neutral Site Regionals 6A Penn/Carroll @ Warsaw Westfield/Fishers @ Noblesville Brownsburg/Decatur Central @ Ben Davis Center Grove/Warren Central @ Southport 5A Merrillville/Michigan City @ Chesterton Lafayette Jeff/Concord @ Logansport New Palestine/East Central @ Greensburg Bloomington South/Floyd Central @ Seymour 4A Hobart/South Bend St. Joseph @ LaPorte Bishop Dwenger/Lebanon @ Yorktown Yorktown/Roncalli @ Hamilton Southeastern Martinsville/Heritage Hills @ Washington 3A Knox/Angola @ Wawasee Twin Lakes/Bishop Luers @ Wabash Cascade/Lawrenceburg @ Shelbyville Indian Creek/Gibson Southern @ Mitchell 2A Andrean/Southmont @ Harrison (WL) Adams Central/Eastbrook @ Bluffton Indianapolis Lutheran/Lapel @ Mount Vernon Linton-Stockton/Brownstown Central @ Bloomington North 1A LaVille/Pioneer @ Culver Academies North Miami/South Adams @ Huntington North Sheridan/South Putnam @ Tri-West Milan/Providence @ Madison

  6. Don't have to say anything about Adam Central, the program speaks for itself. Eastbrook is led by a lot of seniors this year. Rochester had a solid group this last year and Eastbrook took us behind the woodshed. I think the key to this one will be the passing game of Adam Central. I think this is the weak link in Eastbrooks defense. Adam Central will have a better QB and receiver than Eastern had, trust me I've watched both teams. For Adam Central, gotta stop Howell. Rochester stopped him on the ground but he threw it all over us. The QB with the better game next Friday will be on the winning team. Two really good players at the position for both teams next week. I'm taking Adam Central, but I wouldn't be surprised if Eastbrook wins either. They have the talent to do it. Should be a good one.

  7. Well only one team played a clean game. Roncalli was well coached, prepared and up to the challenge of big time playoff football. Chatard was undisciplined (which is atypical). Roncalli will be a handful for whoever plays them. They have power (TB) and speed (QB) so good luck to whomever lines up across from them.

  8. I've always said that the best thing about HS football is grown men (or women) arguing and talking trash about teenagers playing football on an anonymous online forum... Looking forward to the matchup of unbeatens to see who gets to take on Andrean in semistate.

  9. I wish there were more fans. Might have been able to ignore the language on field and on the sidelines. But a fantastic game, all in all

  10. My first time seeing either team. First time even going to Jasper for a game. That 3rd Q drive with 4 15 yd penalties on Jasper was something. Haha. Just an unraveling. I like their offense. Goldsberry was awesome. Size and moxie gave me Baker Mayfield vibes. Good luck rest of tourny. Linton/Brownstown next week for me.

  11. Wow, what a game!!! I was more nervous about this game than the Oregon game. As someone else said, Penn State has 4 and 5 star recruits throughout their roster, IU certainly doesn’t. It does show the climb IU has to make to beat an Ohio State team that is far superior to Penn State, at least in record. Truthfully, while Cig has mastered the transfer process, somehow he is going to have to recruit at a higher level on a year to year basis. Indiana is somewhere around 40 next year, which is better than we are use to, but it needs to be somewhere around the top 20 for long term stability.

  12. I was so caught up in the play itself and really did not hear this. But what a moment made for THE Gus Johnson. So often, I think he tries to hard to make a good play into something more. But not THIS one. Omar Cooper's draft stock climbs high with this game. https://x.com/CFBONFOX/status/1987256102262874620?s=20

  17. Assuming this is a swipe at me, since I’ve picked against FC the last two weeks. That being said you may or may not have noticed, I really haven’t a clue that two weeks ago I was down a few in the pick em game, if I have ANY chance of making a comeback I had to pick against the people who were ahead of me. So perhaps there was some game strategy involved in my decision to “pick against them”. I have no vested interest in the outcome of ANY of these games and frankly aside from CE, NO ONE from the HHC, including your beloved Highlanders, have historically proved they could do jack shit in the tournament. Maybe this is FC’s year, I have no idea, I think I’ve been pretty open and honest that I’m probably the worst HS Football prognosticator alive. Congrats on “your” sectional trophy, enjoy it.

  19. Got to add Fishers last night to my list of stadiums I’ve experienced a game at. My brother-in-law had been pleading for me to attend a home game for the last few years. Witnessed them lose in the 2023 sectional championship at HSE before witnessing them lose in an upset at Franklin Central during the regular season last year. Closer game than most expected last night and Fishers took the lead with six minutes left to win. Glad they came through. Otherwise, my brother-in-law probably wouldn’t let me come to another game. Would’ve been 0-3.

  23. When Jarvis started against Harrison, I asked what is wrong with Dozier and who is this guy? Might be in trouble. Boy was I wrong on all accounts…….

  24. Northwood should have had them, the Panthers just kept getting in their own way.

  25. This has been part and parcel for the IHSAA and Chatard. if they aren't in a sectional of death with 2-3 other p/p schools in 3A, they are stuffed in a sectional with Roncalli or Cathedral come SF movements. Edit: Just read @Lysander's post. Same wavelength.

  26. Might be getting ahead of myself here but quite possibly the most balanced slate of regional finals that I can think of since the beginning of 6A. Brownsburg obviously still the favorite but I could totally see three one possession games in the others.

  27. Congrats on the win! You called a sectional title before the postseason began. I wasn’t a believer until I saw how they manhandled Castle. Best of luck next week at Bloomington South!

  29. I have a hard time taking Yorktown over Gibson Southern and Heritage Hills. On the other hand, Yorktown played New Pal better than almost everyone and proved they were the better team than Pendleton Heights by winning convincingly on the road. Roncalli is a tough matchup next week but the Royals must make the trek to Tiger Town. Top of the NIC flexed their collective muscles tonight with two great wins and both have 50/50 shots to win next week in my eyes.

  30. Great atmosphere. The Fog sucked. Great adjustments after halftime switching to a Wildcat. Really enjoyed getting to congratulate coach Bragg at Midfield. Awesome. Awesome. Awesome.

  31. Agreed. Chatard and Roncalli are effectively .500 against each other over the entirety of their history. Makes it hard to get the needed points to stay up if they are always paired in the same 4A Sectional. To be clear, I don’t want Chatard to be in 3A and I’ve said as much for years…..nobody does including the IHSAA. It’s part of the reason we have a success factor at all…..but the IHSAA just can’t resist putting all the Catholics in the same Sectional whenever and wherever possible. Btw, it’s entirely possible Cathedral, Chatard and Roncalli ALL end up in the same 4A Sectional 3 years from now if Cathedral can’t get past New Pal next year.

  33. Screw Notre Dame. They get more second and third chances than any team out there. Top 5-10 recruiting class annually, no natty in 30+ years. Weak schedule, playing the downtrodden ACC 5 games a year, Navy, etc… Play the Big 10 or SEC 5 times a year, see what record you have

  34. LOL , I wouldn't say Penn is back . I would say we are back when we make a state title game and not get embarrassed .

  35. Am I missing it somewhere in another thread or is NOBODY talking about the Chatard vs. Roncalli matchup? I've heard Roncalli has improved a great deal and isn't the same team that took it on the chin from Chatard earlier in the year, but I don't know. That's just what I heard.

  36. Will be an interesting game. Chatard beat Roncalli early in the season 33-11. Against common foe, Harrison, the outings seemed to indicate a flip. Chatard, while in control of the Harrison game, for the most part, was still only up by 7 with just around 4 minutes to go in the game when they stretched the lead to 10 with a field goal. They had a 7-point lead going into the half too. By contrast, the Harrison-Roncalli game was over pretty much 3 minutes into the 2nd half where Roncalli led 23-0 going 3-for-3 on their initial possessions and grabbing a safety. Royals led 36-7 at the half and turned it into a running clock on their first possession of the 3rd quarter. While the final score says 57-20, it wasn't that close ... Harrison's final 6 points came on the last play of the game on a long pass. No PAT was attempted as time expired and the PAT wouldn't have mattered. One thing I noticed, which might be a difference item, is that Jarvis didn't have any rushing yards in the game against Chatard although he did have 3 receptions for 43 yards. Ash, the QB had the most rushing yards against Chatard with 79 yards on 17 carries and a TD. Against Harrison, Jarvis had 146 yards on 19 carries with 3 TDs. Ash had 11 carries for 76 yards and a TD as well. Jarvis is listed at 201 lbs. and 6'1". Not sure why he didn't carry the ball in the earlier game against Chatard, but he may well be a difference maker in a rematch.

  37. Why should a team that plays all of their games on grass have to play on turf? Some teams don't play on turf all year and then for the Regional they are going to have to play on turf because you think it is more fair. Field conditions this time of year are part of the game and I don't think you can compare football to other sports that are played inside. On paper this looks like a great idea, but obviously there are a lot more reasons why this has not been done. Should NFL playoff games be on neutral sites as well? Just my thoughts. I would love to hear what other people think about this.
