  2. There are still some question marks with this Linton team.. Defensively this could be one of the weaker teams Coach Hart has had at Linton. At times they look good when the 1-3-1 takes advantage of undersized guards. But under the basket Linton struggles, this is where you start to notice how good Sammy and Silas Robbins where last year anchoring that post defense. Pyne and Robertson shows signs of being those tough hard nosed defenders Linton is known for under Coach Hart, if they can play smart and stay out of foul trouble. This team lacks role players, still not sure how they all fit together. Looks like lots of scorers on the floor at times and noone doing the dirty work of rebounding, setting solid screens, and playing tough D. Linton vs. Everyone idk.. Maybe Linton needs to go back to a few years ago when we Defined Toughness. That might sound harsh but to make a run in the post season Linton needs to step it up. Love watching this team play, tons of talent and alot of young talent too. The future for the program looks very bright. With all that being said could we chip in and get Coach Moore something real nice to show our appreciation for his contribution to the program. 😉

  10. There is only one public university in the state of Indiana that has any type of Ivy in its broad reputation. It is not located in Bloomington!

  11. Johnny Football will have a degree from a world-class university that's the only Public Ivy in Indiana, while also having had the opportunity to be part of a Big Ten football team? There's a lot more to college football than the 11 guys on the field at any given time. IU's PWO program is opening up opportunities for student-athletes, and while many PWOs never see the field, some become scholarship players, team captains and more, but all have the opportunity to pursue a degree from a world-class university. I'm proud of my IU degree and the places where it has led me.

  12. To be fair Bob. In their case they are wanting to create more excitement in the regular season to get more eyeballs and butts in the seats and the driver of that is $$. Moreso in professional sports excitement = money. That may be somewhat of a factor in HS as well, but much less.

  13. I threw up in my mouth a little. I think the storyline is lagging a bit, I fast forwarded thru most of the escape, pretty predictable.

  14. Indiana now has 5 wins against ranked teams. 4th most in the nation. Also have 6 quad 1 wins now. Purdue on Thursday will be a tough test. Hopefully they continue this good stretch in Mackey.

  15. Listen there are schools who do a good job (maybe) and a horrible job of recruiting in this state! Most are D1! I was amazed at how much better the NAIA schools do in this state. My son just went through the process and said i would rather play and get noticed then be on the sideline and not. So he decided on an NAIA school due to how much more thorough they where. Anymore if you have the talent the pro teams will find you. Let these kids live their lives. If they go to IU because they think that maybe their path let them dream. You never know!

  20. There are many football coach's that what a pool for training purposes. When Coach Funk was hired that was a common question that many coach's asked about the facilities. A pool helps in rehab and recovery of injuries.

  23. So just to make sure I am following along I want to make sure I understand your post. You are saying that the MLB proposal of increasing the amount of teams that make the playoffs teaches us that we should reduce the amount of teams that make the playoffs in high school football.

  24. https://reason.com/2019/07/18/the-new-conservative-nationalism-is-about-subverting-individual-liberty/ Scary, scary time for America. Where personal liberty, individuals initiative, and personal responsibility are downplayed and subservience to the power and "wisdom" of the state are championed.

  25. I had checked all those sources, none answered my question. I assume it was a consolidation of at least Gas City and Jonesboro's government schools.

  26. Hmm. Not exactly what I expected from one of the GID's cognoscenti, not being able to back up their statements with verifiable facts. Very reactionary.

  27. Not confused at all foxbat. You made a statement I believe was false or at the very least pointed to you misinterpreting DT's statements, hence my simple request for links or citations so we could all be on the same page as to what was said. Sorry if you believe these are "high school debate shtick tactics" but I'm just a marching moron compared to your great intelligence and experience concerning "real" debate tactics. Yep. Sorry if it tarnished your image here on the GID. Honestly co-op football programs, like currently deployed in Illinois, would IMHO be a better option than 8 man tackle football.

  28. I'm curious. Is the current Mississinewa Community Government School Corporation the result of consolidation(s), and if so from what communities/towns/townships? Always wondered why it just was't called Gas City High School.

  30. Big changes to the MLB playoff process are being proposed now. What does that have to do with Indiana high school football? It just confirms something that some of us have been saying for years. If you want to make the regular season games more exciting, ignite fan interest, keep people and teams engaged to the greatest extent possible, you take steps to make those regular season games more meaningful with respect to post-season opportunity. MLB has obviously realized that changing the playoff protocol is a legitimate and effective way to do that. In order to make regular season games more meaningful, they are proposing changes that would keep more teams fighting for more playoff spots. It would increase playoff participation from 10 to 14 teams. The stated purpose is to make the stakes for regular season games higher, to make for more competitive games, greater "buzz" and, of course, the increased revenue that flows from that. This teaches us that the most sophisticated minds in sports see using the playoff structure as a way to improve the regular season … just what we should be doing in Indiana with at least playoff seeding, and better still, a playoff qualification format.
