  1. The boys basketball sectional is the first Friday in March and the tournament runs through March. You also have 1 or 2 week spring breaks in middle/late March or early April to deal with. You all are grasping at straws with this spring football idea...will never happen.

In response to the recent campaign to end Chinese virus shutdowns, Cooper posted, “Fuck each and every Trump supporter.” According to a report by Campus Reform, Rutgers University Associate Professor of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Brittney Cooper came under fire this week after taking aim at Trump supporters in a lengthy Twitter thread. “I am saying some obvious things this morning because as a country we are too good at skipping over the audience and we might as well say this to people as often as we can. Fuck each and every Trump supporter. You all absolutely did this. You are to blame,” Cooper wrote in one tweet. 1,423 people are talking about this Cooper wrote that it is “utterly absurd” to reopen the country at this stage of the ongoing pandemic. According to Cooper, white conservatives want to open the nation because it will “disproportionately” affect black Americans. “I feel like most Black people are clear that this utterly absurd to push [sic] to re-open the country is all about a gross necropolitical calculation that it is Black people who are dying disproportionately from COVID. Not only do white conservatives not care about Black life, but my most cynical negative read of the white supremacists among them is that they welcome this massive winnowing of Black folks in order to slow demographic shifts and shore up political power.” Professor Cooper has a history of bizarre remarks. In October 2019, Cooper argued during an interview on Oprah’s television network that the policies of the Trump administration have led to high levels of obesity for Black women. “I hate when people talk about Black women being obese. I hate it because it becomes a way to blame us for a set of conditions that we didn’t create,” Cooper said. “We are living in the Trump era. And look, those policies kill our people. You can’t get access to good health care, good insurance.” Not only is the Coronavirus Trump's fault, but her weight is as well.......Deeper TDS than I have ever seen......From a Rutgers professor......

  4. It can be. Once had an acquaintance who stupidly burnt some old pieces of hardwood that were cut with a large poison ivy vine wrapped around it. The smoke from the fire still contained the urushiol from the ivy vine, which was inhaled into the lungs. Spent a couple weeks in the hospital. The trick to outrunning a Bear is to just be faster than the guy next to you.

  5. As Bobby Cox was quoted in The Star article, football is the #1 money maker, and combined with Boys Basketball helps pay for spring sports. There may not be another option than to play football in the spring....... killing 2 birds with 1 stone. Getting the revenue and not have to pay for spring sports. For the non-football schools, let them have their spring sports and have tournaments that are non-class, although it would be mostly small schools anyway. Start the season the 1st Friday in March, 6 games, 3 home and 3 road for all. Tournament would start mid-April, no bye weeks and finish up early May. Eliminate conferences for the season since a full slate can not be played. Not ideal I know, but at least there will be a season, and that would still leave 10 weeks or so before fall practice.

  8. Congrats to the 18 schools who made the finals in the 5th annual Indianapolis Colts in partner with United Health Care 25,000 dollar Helmet raffle. 2nd year in the row the Bombers made it and come away with 1000 dollar donation to the program. Congrats to Prairie Heights who was the 25k GRAND PRIZE winner this year!! As many of you know, I am a season ticket holder to my beloved Chicago Bears, however, I constantly applaud the wonderful job the Colts do with our state High School football, it is truly the BEST IN THE NATION !!! Much Love for that.

  10. For those who persist in believing that the pandemic is “overblown,” or some sort of excuse to push an agenda, here is a sobering statistic. This publication is widely used by professionals. I got it from my wife who is a pediatric nurse practitioner and in charge of infection control/employee health at a Chicago hospital. The bottom line here is that the seasonal index used to measure the severity of that year’s influenza wave last week was at 23.5, meaning that nearly a quarter of all American deaths during the past week occurred as a result of pneumonia, influenza (which is no longer in wide circulation) or COVID-19. In contrast, that’s almost triple the rate during the H1N1 pandemic of 2009. Published in Respiratory Medicine and 2 other channels Expert Opinion / Commentary · April 29, 2020 COVID-19 in One Somber Graphic Written by Jonathan Temte MD, PhD Save Recommend Share I have often heard COVID-19 compared to influenza, particularly when there is intent to question our collective actions. Social distancing, school closures, limited mobility, handwashing and use of facemasks impose a cost on all of us. Influenza is familiar and—to many—an easy comparator. Like SARS-CoV-2, it is a respiratory virus that contributes to significant morbidity and mortality on a yearly basis. As a researcher who has studied influenza in primary care and community settings for the past quarter century, however, I can attest SARS-CoV-2 is not like influenza. I respect influenza; SARS-CoV-2 scares me. Today, as the U.S. has surpassed 1,000,000 cases of COVID-19 and we have tallied nearly 60,000 deaths, I provide a simple graphic for PracticeUpdate readers to ponder. The Influenza Branch at CDC has long used the Pneumonia and Influenza Mortality Index to gauge influenza’s passage. The index is based on the percentage of all deaths occurring in the U.S. that have pneumonia or influenza listed as a cause of death during a given week. A seasonal baseline is calculated as well as an “epidemic threshold.” When the P&I death percentage exceeds the threshold, we are seeing the excess of deaths that are typically related to influenza. Of late, deaths due to COVID-19 have been added to the equation… and that is where the similarities end. We recently hit an all-time high of 23.5%.[1] Nearly one quarter of Americans who died during the week ending on April 11, died of pneumonia, influenza or COVID-19 (and influenza was no longer in circulation). This compares to the 2009 influenza A(H1N1) pandemic’s P&I peak of 8.1%. January 2018 also witne ssed a very bad outbreak of influenza and registered 10.8%. Like SARS-CoV-2, influenza can be controlled by social distancing, school closures, limited mobility, handwashing and use of facemasks. But, we also have ample testing capacity, vaccines and antiviral medications. Until we have good means for prevention, diagnosis, treatment and control of SARS-CoV-2, I advise caution in making too many easy comparisons. Copyright © 2020 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved. The banners are, in fact, being produced in China. I'm sure Troj will be along shortly to explain to us what you actually mean by this statement. He seems to be the only one who can translate your gibberish.

  14. I've been thinking about the first comment in bold and I'm not so sure there would be the same fan appetite for high school football in the spring. Especially if the NFL and NCAA seasons go off in the fall, even if just on television. The average person would have gotten their "fix" and would be ready to move on to the more traditional calendar. It sounds ridiculous to think about this too, but families are still going to go on vacations in the spring and early summer too regardless of what sports are being played. You stand to lose players and fans to spring break, the timing of which varies from school to school of course. And before you scoff at that notion, do two things; ask a spring sport coach what the most annoying thing about playing in the spring is, most will tell you it is navigating spring break. Secondly, look at how many people still traveled this past spring break as we went from 0 to 100 on restrictions, because I can tell you in our area it was a lot of folks. Do I still have an appetite for football in the spring? Hell yes! I tried to watch every AAF and XFL game I could. My wife, who I would say is a more casual fan even though she is more rabid than most, on the other hand? Her appetite is not near as strong. She's ready to garden come the spring. I have to remind myself sometimes that most folks out there just don't care as much about football as I/we do. They have other concerns in life. They love football when it's on, but they can, will, and do survive just fine without it. As with all this, I could be wrong; may interest skyrockets, but I don't think it's a slam dunk. To the second comment, at this point, I'm afraid that even if "social distancing" is done away with tomorrow, you are still going to have a significant portion of the population who will continue these practices out of fear for their health, whether they are told the threat is mitigated or not. That portion of the population may "social distance" for years, which is their right of course. My fear is that that portion of the population may be bigger than any of us realize.

  15. What I like the most, the President takes the information provided to him by Dr. Birx as the truth and backs her up unequivocally in the face of this reporter who won't stop insisting he is right. Now in a very under-reported little story: https://kvoa.com/news/top-stories/2020/04/28/yahoo-news-reporter-apologies-to-president-trump-for-question/ NEW YORK (AP) — A White House reporter for Yahoo News apologized to President Donald Trump for getting his facts wrong about coronavirus testing at a news conference Tuesday. Hunter Walker had asked the president why South Korea had a higher rate of testing per capita than the United States. Trump said he didn't think it was true, and directed the question to Dr. Deborah Birx, who corrected him. The president taunted Walker, saying 'Are you going to apologize?' Walker later apologized in a tweet, saying he had misread a chart. Also later, the president approached him and said he appreciated the apology. I think these actions would qualify both men as Class Acts......(IMHO)

  19. https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2020/apr/28/joe-biden-economic-intercourse-at-risk-due-to-trum/ Joe Biden says if he were managing the coronavirus pandemic on behalf of the U.S. there would be more diplomacy to safeguard “economic intercourse around the world.” The Democrat told a local CBS affiliate in Miami on Monday that President Trump’s decision to prioritize America above all other nations is tantamount to going “alone” when it comes to the contagion. “I would get much more engaged in the world. We can’t step back,” Mr. Biden said. “If in fact for example, we solve the problem in the United States of America, and you don’t solve it in other parts of the world, you know what’s gonna happen? You’re gonna have travel bans. You’re gonna not be able to have economic intercourse around the world.” Mr. Biden’s analogy shot to the top of Twitter’s trending news feed on Tuesday. Some responses include: Sara Carter: “People are saying it’s a Freudian slip, what do you think?” Carmine Sabia: “There is no way I can see that the Democrats allow Economic Intercourse Joe Biden to be their nominee. This is becoming a f—ing cartoon.” Steve Deace: “I’m ashamed at how long it’s been since I’ve had economic intercourse.” Terrence K. Williams: “This is who the Democrats chose — this looney man — to run against a Genius like President @realDonaldTrump.” Mr. Biden punctuated his plan with a warning: “Look, when America goes alone, when America is first, it’s America goes alone. … We have to get back into the game.” Methinks the MSM (while ignoring the former VP's quote) is anxiously waiting for any questionable line from the current President they can bastardize (kinda like "President suggests ingesting disinfectant") to fill the news casts with to get past this one...... Quite frankly I want a President who will prioritize the US over other nations........

  25. What a great experience this was to be part of. I can tell you it was very intense earlier today watching it. We (South Dearborn) came in 2nd and we were on the edge of our seats as it came down to the end. At 5 schools left we were like "Ok, this is cool" and then 3 it was "Well, we are in this" and then 2 and it was like "Holy cow, this is exciting"...lol...Congratulations to Prairie Heights as I am sure this will really bolster their program. Thanks again to the United Health Care and the Colts for this great program. And like Coach Nowlin said, $1000 donation is really nice.

  31. Not from the official Trump Campaign. I found a Trump supporter booth at the Pittsburgh RV show in January. He had some nice looking stuff, but when I pointed out to him the origin of nearly all of his products (China) he acted like "no big deal". Needless to say, I didn't buy anything. None of the official Trump campaign outlets are allowed to have anything not made in the USA. That story doesn't distinguish that fact......

  36. Which one? As do I. Instead of one who talks the talk but doesn't walk the walk. OR ‘Trump 2020’ campaign banners are being proudly produced in . . . China? Because SF can agree with the first part of your original statement (I'm sure we will disagree on the person whom you are referring) Even the second part is partially correct, but the campaign (funded by the Republican party, not the individual profiteers as I "SPUN" earlier) isn't the party purchasing from the Chinese producers. (again - a point that was never brought up in the story you linked)
