  4. R u serious, Clark? Come back down to reality. If Harrell’s site is correct, MD is 8-6 against Southridge since 94. Lay off the Smirnoff Ices, MD is just fine sharing a sectional with Southridge.

  9. Agree completely! It's one reason I've never understood why newspapers put up pay walls. I would think The Northwest Indiana Times and Indy Star could drastically increase ad revenue by not restricting the amount of traffic their sites get. This reminds me of watching Indiana and Purdue basketball games on WYIN Channel 56 when I was a kid in Portage. If I recall correctly, Joe Arredondo was always leading the Saturday afternoon pledge drives during commercials. If you are who I think you are, the show you did with Mark on Thursday nights was a pleasure to watch when I was in Middle School and High School. I graduated from Portage in '97.

  10. Brown County 3-0 at Indian Creek 2-1 BC's SOS isn't great so far. IC is historically better. I'll take Indian Creek 55 Brown County 28 Cascade 0-3 at Cloverdale ,0-3 Two programs struggling really bad this season. Tossup.. here. Cascade 14 Cloverdale 13 North Putnam 0-3 at Sullivan 1-2, NP comes off a shellacking from their rival South Put. Sullivan fell flat against historical powerhouse Northview. Sullvan rebounds and wins by four touchdowns, Sullivan 35 North Putnam 7. Northview 2-1 at West Vigo, 3-0 Game of the week. West Vigo has been impressive this season. I picked them to lose last week and they proved me wrong. Northview is head and shoulders above the rest of the WIC this season. Northview wins 20-8. The Viking defense holds but not enough. NV wins WIC big school but won't get out of sectionals, as usual since they're stuck in an always tough sectional. Owen Valley 1-2 at Edgewood 2-1 Edgewood int as good as their record but they still take the W. Edgewood 32 Owen Valley 28 South Putnam 3-0 at Greencastle 1-2 Second game of the week. South Putnam established themselves last week. They are averaging 60 points per game and only giving up 15. Impressive for the 1A school. The next several weeks will be battles for SP, Greencastle, Edgewood, West Vigo, and Brown County! They will win sectionals and have a heck of a game versus Lutheran for regionals. Greencastle will be hungry after losing by one point to WV but SP takes this one 22-14.

  12. Not Bobref, but I watched there entire game against Penn and bits and pieces of the LaPorte game. Based on that sample size, they're pretty similar to last year. Monster lines on both sides of the ball, a defense that's really hard to move the ball against, and an offense that's not very flashy. Against Penn, they played without 2 starters on the OL, one of which is a big Western Michigan commit. They also played the entire 2nd half without the transfer QB from Jeff (Grimes.) I don't think he played against LaPorte either. All I read is he had a leg injury in the 1st half against Penn. Not sure if it's the same leg he injured last year. They returned their leading rusher from last year (Burbee) and have another solid RB in Vinyard. They lost their top 2 WR's from last year. The passing game has been weak. Not sure if it's due to breaking in new WR's or not having Grimes behind Center. I would probably rate the North currently as: 1. Dwenger 2. Valpo (Repeating is tough. Could come down to which team makes the long trip on Route 30) 3. North (Great offensive talent, a holding penalty waiting to happen, not a defense I would want to rely on in the playoffs) 4. Harrison (wildcard, IMO) 5. tie between Northrop and Michigan City I hate to be that guy, but at this point I'm expecting Cathedral to lay a beat-down on whomever makes it out of the North. Cathedral vs. Brownsburg or a rematch with Center Grove in the 6A playoffs would have likely been more appealing to watch.

  13. Getting that a lot up here (NW Indiana)... Teams missing a couple of players each week for unknown reasons. It hurts the small schools but the bigger schools, you hardly even notice.

  17. Keep it! The more exposure the better imo. Could you link the TGD twitter to auto share with IST? I see most of the local media referencing IST more than TGD.

  18. Memorial (0-3) @ Mater Dei (1-2) next week. Luckily they play in the SIAC and play each other. I bet both schools would hate to see a football powerhouse like Pike Central next Friday. Based on enrollment, these are the two smallest schools in the conference. Maybe they can award a ‘small school SIAC champ’ trophy to the winner? I hear that’s a pretty big deal.

  23. I also agree with this, I think Cathedral is a few TD’s better than anyone else in 5A. They are absolute monsters this year.

  25. There is no risk... In the mean time ignore the warning and enjoy as usual. The security certificate expired on 9/2/2020. I renewed it over 2 months ago. I have to figure out what Godaddy has done to screw this up, but it's only on the surface. As I already stated there is NOT any risk involved while you visit right now. DK

  27. Based on returning talent from last year and moreso on performance so far this season I'd say Cathedral is significantly better than everyone else in 5A. Now its a long season and we have potential covid issues, injuries and teams will improve as the season goes on but at this point it looks like 5A is Cathedral's title to lose.

  30. My fault. Should have just kept my trap shut. I will say - in response to the low blow comment about Pike Central and “small school division” ...the big school/small school thing was a SOLUTION to the Big 8 “leftover” teams. I was never personally in favor of it- but it did allow some teams to alter/change their schedule as they saw fit. If you think anyone’s gonna be pounding their chest because of a small school conference championship- well then you’re dreaming. We have always set our sights much higher- hence being the only school besides Memorial to be playing UP a class due to the success factor. MD can thank us later for their 2 sectional trophies (assuming they win this year) while we’re not there.
