For the record I did record a tackle one time when I got in late in the game in a blowout.

What do those schools have in common? I can’t quite put my finger on it.

The entire Lutheran thing reminds me a lot of the LCC “discussions” back prior to the advent of the Success Factor era. Despite a couple of occasions when I might have disagreed a bit with some of its fans, LCC had several continuous years of teams that punched well above their class - often beating a really strong 3A West Lafayette annually if I recall correctly. I also find myself thinking of 2A Luers during Jaylon Smith’s Senior year. I think they were an ABSOLUTELY legit top 10-15 team that year. I can’t recall if they outright won the SAC that year but they handled a very good Ritter team (admittedly with a couple of injuries) who also could have been a Top 25 team at LOS.

IMO, this is one of the unintended — and negative — consequences of the coaches’ vote system of advancement. There are crews out there who believe, rightly or wrongly, that enforcing the uniform rules as we’re supposed to has a negative impact on their coaches’ vote. So, they look the other way when a kid comes out for warmups with his face painted like he’s auditioning for a role in Braveheart, or with pants that don’t even qualify as Bermuda shorts.

Long story short, yes. The only time a kid has ever gotten “away” with it for us is if he shows us he has tried and he keeps trying to keep them down. Manufacturers are the ones that keep making them shorter. Also, with that being said. I hate being the fashion police. Pants, jerseys, one strip of eye black. It just pisses players and coaches off before we start due to not everyone enforcing it.

We had a player from the visiting team ordered by the crew to cover his knees completely. As the player was coming to the sidelines he's all WTF'ing and "I've been wearing them this way all f'ing season (to his coaches) The officials did make sure that he knew he wasn't playing unless his pads covered his knees and that the coaches were reminded that this was covered in pre-game. I was under the impression the knees being covered was always a requirement. Are the players complaints a result of other crews not enforcing the requirements?

I never heard that till yrs later... I thout they just emptied the prisons ... those were some bad ass tiger teams!!! 😄

I was actually a beneficiary of that. I still have a Cincy Enquirer photo from the sports page of a young Lysander v. Brian Way (?) of the Tigers at that time. Probably the only time in my life I actually made a proper form solo tackle.

In 2007, Sheridan scrimmaged Kevin Wright's Warren Central. Let's just say, Sheridan didn't exactly get run off the field. Far too often we disregard small schools are something to do with talent. Like D1 vs D3. Meanwhile, we all know that class is set based off school size, having nothing to do with talent, before success factor that is.

Lawrenceburgs had a big streak in the 70’s but had to forfeit several games because they were cheaters. The stinky clown never wants to talk about that. I swear to God he doesn’t

They won a sectional their 3rd yr in the tourny. We beat them in thier 7th yr and was already 0-2 at the time against them. All it took was our first sectional title team in 20 years. Haha

Still think they need a "champion/playoff week, last week of season. 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2, etc per each division. Regular season you play the other four in your division, have two cross over games into other division, two OOC games then champion week.

It was the 1988 Sheridan team that said they could beat Ben Davis. Ben Davis beat Marion 43-0 for the 5a title that year.

You probably already saw it, but the JV and freshmen teams remained unbeaten with the JV squad (6-0) winning 24-14 over Col. North and the freshmen (5-0-1) winning 38-0 over the Bull Dogs.

All of them knocked AC out in semi state. My freshman year & Zachery's, Sheridan throttled us in Monroe on their way to 4 appearances & winning 3. Pioneer clobbered AC at the Pit in 97 and then my brother's senior year 2016 they won 22-8 in the cold monsoon. They'd lose to Linton but then get their wins in following years including 2018 over us in Logansport. I believe it was in 99 LCC came to Monroe with a stacked squad and whooped us. LB core was outstanding. They had their run when we were down & then beat us in 2019 at LCC on their way to another title over Lutheran in a barn burner. Now the last 2 years Lutheran has done the same at state to us. If we could have won say a quarter of those, it would have been awesome.

I’m looking forward to this weekend’s Bloomington South/Brebeuf game. By all rights given Brebeuf’s massive fail this past Friday, I’d generally favor BS big….but I’ve always been a little dubious about South. I will say, though, that South’s handling of CN this past Friday went a ways towards consolidating in my mind that they might actually be pretty decent. With that, I don’t know anything about Brebeuf’s injury situation, etc. I just know I was shocked when they beat Roncalli a couple of weeks ago. I was also pretty stunned how close that Guerin/Northview game was on Friday.

I can't speak to whether or not Indy Lutheran is Top 25 quality having not seem them play. But I did have an opportunity to catch a 1A game Friday night. Having seen high quality 4A, 5A, and 6A football so far this year, I have to say that the difference in these levels compared to 1A is utterly massive. 1A is to 6A as Ben Davis is to Ball State. With a few exceptions of course. Adams Central and Indy Lutheran wouldn't back down from anyone. Full disclosure: The game I attended didn't involve ranked programs.

Lutheran is as advertised, Tough , Physical and has the speed to win down the field as well. We didn't really help ourselves in this game at the beginning, one of those miscues being cause by Lutheran. They probably deserve to be in the Top 25 in the state regardless of their Class. And that isn't taking anything away from Temps Top 25, not everyone has the balls to put their out there. HE DOES.

Warren Central is a complete joke imo. The Warriors are a complete shell of their former selves, with no true identity at all.

One note. For accepted penalties against the defense, the play clock should be set to 40 seconds. Accepted penaties on the offense, play clock should be set to 25. Everything else in the PDF looks good.

At quick glance this looks accurate. One thing Indiana does differently from a mechanical standpoint is in regards to the dead ball signal (arm raised over their head). If the covering official signals to stop the clock for a first down in bounds or any runner out of bounds or if they signal incomplete, they also need to give the dead ball signal. The IHSAA doesn't think play clock operators are able to know to se the clock to 40 and start it without that signal. I ask the play clock operator every week if they know what to do without that signal and every one has said yes.
