  18. I put this on here, so Harrison will win state this year. 🙂 If Harrison wins, that is a win for the north, even if the IHSAA has them in the South. I think there are some people on here that would like to see anyone north of Lafayette win state.

  20. Shtick..., what nonsense I have no shtick! I'm very versatile I love forming brilliant ideas to better high school football in Indiana, such as the post-game zebra press conference I love making wild claims that can't technically be proven incorrect I love fighting with BTF about how there is no real football north of Indy other than a few FT Wayne schools I used to love poking fun at 1a football, but apparently, I can't do that anymore (freakin communist is what it is) Most importantly I love the images in my head of you angrily responding to things I write. About the Parkhurst thing, I set my team to Merryville the day they lost last year in hopes of messing with him every time he posted anything unfortunately, he disappeared so that didn't pan out Am currently taking applications for my next "team" send suggestions to my inbox ye currently thinking about becoming a GS fan and posting a weekly thread about how Chatard should be in 4a so we can be relevant If I had a "shtick" it would be pressing enter at random intervals in my paragraph

  25. All: Just want to give a shout out to the Gridiron Digest staff for all their had work and for the opportunity for us to continue to talk about high school football in Indiana! I do not work for GID. I have renewed my membership with a donation to help support the cause. Would you please consider making a donation today? There are bills to pay and the donation seems a bit down this year. Appreciate all you guys at GID! Keep up the great work! as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007

  27. I think putting fans in the stands has to account for something. The athletic departments are dependent upon that money. I think we can all appreciate what you are saying though. Has the gate been affected much, or is Penn still packing the house?

  29. Prove it. The Vikings weren't flashy. But not many 4A teams had a defensive front seven that could have handled Valpo's big OL and 6' 230 RB (Davis) running power off tackle all night.

  30. I completely agree 5A watered down. Just don't think it's as bad as some say. And if the problem is that a select group of teams in or formerly in 4A (Cathedral, Roncalli, East Central) along with generational great teams (Columbus East, New Pal) can win at 5A then maybe they shouldn't have been in 4A in the first place and voluntarily stepped up a class. Looking at this year, I'll be curious to see if East Central's playoff SOS would have been stronger at the 5A level. Looking at enrollments, you are spot on. 2A-5A would be MUCH better if it was 1A that was split into 32 teams. That would have put the following teams into 5A: Kokomo Northridge Evansville Reitz East Central Hobart New Pal Roncalli

  31. I can't remember the year they switched the home side. The last year that I played on that field was 1979. Sheridan last played Westfield in 2004. My son was the QB for Sheridan. The Hawks won that game 53-7, and I remember well that the Shamrocks only score was a muffed punt returned for a TD. The Hawks were pretty fired up since everyone knew the two sides wouldn't play again and they wanted to end the rivalry with a statement. It was a great rivalry. Each side trying to sneak onto the other's field and burn an "S" or "W" on it. I don't recall it really being mean spirited though. You pretty much knew everyone on the other team and we really got along for the most part. You just competed hard when the whistle blew. I would say there are very few folks in Westfield that would remember any of this now. They just look at Sheridan as the little hick town to the north of them.

  32. Really only North Newton is struggling with numbers right now. A lot of teams either play some jv games or have around 25-30 so its a little tough to play full schedule of jv games.

  33. Chatard vs Cathedral is just different. It is a rivalry game that anything can happen no matter which one looks more dominant. There has been about everything happen in games between the Trojans and Irish. Even the game itself was wild between momentum shifts, the lights going out at Arlington, the move to play Saturday at Chatard. Even the transitive property comparison has never worked. Chatard vs Roncalli @ Chatard 14-7 (Chatard) Chatard vs Cathedral (1/2 @ Arlington 1/2 @ Chatard) 24-21 (Chatard) Cathedral vs Roncalli @ Roncalli 42-0 (Cathedral) Chatard is very good and they aren't flashy. They very well could be 3A State Champions, but they aren't so dominant that no other team has a shot. It won't be easy for any team in 3A to beat them, but it is also not a given.

  38. ;That would have been before my time in Westfield. I don't remember the press box and home stands being on the south side. They were playing on that old field up until 2016. Now the current stadium can go up against almost any other as far as size and so on. Bud Wright was and probably still is a cantankerous coach. I remember the last time they played, I believe it was 1999, before Westfield left the old Range Line Conference to join the then new Hoosier Crossroads Conference. He was big time PO'd with that move. At that time Sherican vs. Westfield was the second oldest continuing series in the state. He showed no mercy in that last game. I can't find the score, but it was something line 51-14. There were almost always issues between the two schools about various things. Kids would transfer from one to the other, since the schools aren't that far apart. Back in 1904, the first year of ISHAA of which Westfield was a founding member, there were accusations from Westfield about two players from Sheridan, one being that one of their players was 21 years old. The other player had been found to be playing in his 5th year of high school. The first was found to be true. The second, well the kid enrolled in the high school, dropped back to 8th grade, them moved back to the high school. So he was ruled eligible his senior season. I remember when not only Penn, but Hobart were the beasts in that part of the state.

  43. The point is the owners aren’t the ones losing money here…lol And not to get too far off subject, but that’s not the reason RPOs aren’t the run in the NFL more at all. The speed of players make RPOs much less effective and ineligible man downfield rules are enforced much more in the NFL than college. Not to mention NFL teams utilizing offenses that operate under center more often than not. It’s not about avoiding getting QBs hurt.

  44. Seed the sectionals?! Are you insane?! Now why would the IHSAA give any merit to the regular season? Let everyone into the postseason and let everyone’s fates be determined by a machine!!! That’s the most fair!!! I think the real issue is that you guys want to take the fun out of it for the IHSAA by not allowing them to use their table tennis ball (not ping pong balls; it’s offensive) machine. They look forward to using that thing multiple times a year like any child would and the fact you guys want to take that away from them is un-Christian. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
