  1. Why not? It's an Indiana high school football forum, and this is concerning an Indiana high school football coach. I will agree that rumors and speculation need not run rampant, but forums are literally built to have discussion.

  2. So smacking teenage girls’ asses is unacceptable…..I was not aware, no one explained that to me when I was hired….and after she asked him to stop….be a man!

  3. After reading through this thread - I actually think I've come around to the idea that is should be the BIGGEST 32 in 6A and the smallest 32 in 1A - then split the rest as evenly as you can.

  4. I never noticed this until now 🤣🤣🤣

  5. Without quoting all the above classes and taking up loads of space in this reply box- those classes (where 32 biggest are in 6A and 32 smallest are in 1A) seem about right to me. I realize it’s all relative I guess…

  6. 1A and 6A should be 32. Divide 2A-4A up "evenly", handout the byes as you see fit. My 2 cents😜

  8. Well said....I was actually working LOL (hard to believe I know) and didn't want to think it through but this is close to what I was conceptualizing. Thanks!

  9. WCGrad- good work. It looks about as good as it can get. P/P being removed from 1A makes no sense especially since that is why they instituted the SF.

  10. I second that. No point in allowing weather to be a determining factor in the state championship.

  11. In all these situations that have involved coaches in our state, I caution folks on a few things, 1. Due process This is why I hid a topic last week talking rumors of something at Glenn with Coach Barron 2. What is reported by WNDU is just that, what they reported. Which is summary of charges, nothing more, nothing less. 3. We've always taken stance going back to Coach Tim Adams days , to allow due process and sticking with to reported facts that become available if they do.

  12. I do too, taking out one of the scrimmages is the best route to do that, imo.

  13. As will baseball and softball when it is wet on those fields and perhaps the youth football as well. We utilize ours for a variety of things not just football or soccer.

  14. My better idea is not doing this ridiculous idea of 32 teams in all classes. I'd be more in favor of not all teams qualifying for the tournament, which I'm not advocating for either.

  15. I'm just sharing my opinion....some people will disagree. I would suggest 8 man matchups probably aren't the best analogy to 11 man 1A football. The reason I have my opinion is a desire to prevent the yo-yo effect that has occurred in larger classes from affecting 32 smallest 1A. Especially as IHSAA has chosen to increase the point threshold for "staying up". Looks like some p/p folks don't agree with me....they are free to do so and I'd still drink beer with them.🍻

  17. No. Absolutely not. You solution to this is forget the small schools, or send a 6A Final to somewhere other than Lucas Oil? Come on. Let's be serious.

  18. Not sure of the exact number of teams in each class in Illinois, but they do use a qualifier like every other state. If they have 32 teams in each class, that's the number that make the tournament. I also believe they don't set the class cutoffs until the qualified teams are determined. Then they split them into classes. Another very different approach. I personally like the playoff qualifier as it adds even more meaning to the regular season. People will argue teams that lose several games early will consider themselves out of the playoffs and not care any longer. In today's system they don't have to care either because they lose the rest of their games they still make the tournament so nothing changes for them. They are just hoping they get a lucky draw. If they don't their last game and their tournament game are no different.

  19. I watched Faith Christian take a 80-2 beating at the hands of Indiana School for the Deaf in 8-on-8 last season. That should be the poster child citing for not having an automatic banishment from 1A if you are a p/p school. If they get better, SF will take care of it.

  20. Sheridan School Board accepted a bid to install turf at Sheridan High School. Field will be equipped with soccer lines as well. Per the AD, installation should be finished on August 1st.

  21. Not this conversation again......... Publics and privates will never agree on this issue. Leave it alone. In the 4-class sports, they moved to a 20/25/25/30 split.

  25. The editor timed out before I finished. A player who lines up and is neither a back nor a lineman, if he is not the QB, causes the formation to be illegal under 7-2-3. He can’t legally go downfield on a pass, he’s not an eligible receiver, he can’t legally touch a forward pass, and he can’t be in motion at the snap unless he fulfills the requirements of 7-2-7. All of these are fouls. All routinely occur when the wingback lines up too close to the LOS. All are routinely ignored. Until now? Stay tuned. @US31 does that answer your question?

  26. I worked with Romison at Peru and can tell you that he is a great man, leader, father and husband. He will do a great job of leading the young men of Munster!! Best of luck Coach!

  28. Without running the numbers, I always felt that it should be 32 in 6A and 32 in 1A. Well, I guess that's why we run numbers. IHSAA got it right.

  29. Perhaps with Tell City dropping HH they will fill that game with an opponent who actually has the capability of beating them.

  30. Two people had something drawn up that makes a lot of sense and is the same, looks like the IHSAA is gonna have to go a whole different route. Nice goin fellas 😉

  31. no sir, that Gees had worked in Indiana previously was correct, Part of a powerhouse staff at Rensselaer in the 60's, Coach Geesman, Coach Sidewidz, Coach Hummer, all future State Champion coaches and all in the Indiana Football Hall Of Fame. 4 Hall of Fame Coaches on that staff, Steve Brandenburg Rensselaer also on that staff, iFCA HOF as well, but not a state champion Coach Geesman left Rensselaer to OHIO for the HC job before taking over PENN.

  32. Why a stunner? Am I missing something? Munster got one of the good ones. Elkhart lost out. Coach is a great leader of men and will do a great job leading the program.
