On behalf of the leadership team here at the Gridiron Digest, just wanted to express our thanks to all of you, our friends of GID!!! Whether you agree with folks or disagree, its always a great conversation (well most of the time) with fans of Indiana High School Football. Thanks to all our Boosters who generously give to us yearly Thanks to all our coaches who patronage our site Thanks to all our other members who engage, converse , argue, and PROMOTE, the best parts of this great game in our state. Good Luck to the 12 teams competing this weekend for State Titles and a VERY HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU ALL!! Cheers Coach Nowlin8 points

I have had questions after the news coverage and the previous announcement of Coach Bowsman's passing. I hope this clarifies. Thank you all for your outpouring of support. An Honor Walk is for people that have chosen to do a total organ transplant. In most cases the family is there and medical staff at the hospital step outside to honor the donor. The family can invite others and Beth chose to include our community and team. The hallway is lined and the donor is walked through the crowd to have their organs harvested. Coach Bowsman was deemed medically deceased on Monday 1:19 PM. His body was maintained and yesterday they harvested his organs. 2 of his organs are already been matched to individuals for life saving organ transplants and can potentially save up to 8.6 points

Baring injury, two way players probably won’t be a factor in this contest.3 points

6 classes are enough. I know I’ve said this before, but I have seen no compelling argument to make a change. I think the “get better” approach is the way to do things. Everybody should not get a trophy, the ones that work the hardest should.2 points

For teams that haven't been there for awhile, the experience is to familiarize teenage boys to the venue where they are going to play the biggest game of their lives. It's also a bonding experience and one you'll never forget. Also helps the coaches and equipment staff plan for logistics. A valuable and worthwhile experience in my opinion.2 points

I’ll second that. Some legendary raps on the bus back in the day.1 point

I am a little confused if CG was to lose to Carmel we can just blame It the fact that they are double our size. because in the past when we have lost to Carmel or WC orBD we have just said good game and whet and worked harder because that what good programs do. Not blame it stuff that can not be help.1 point

Unless Jon Goldsberry comes out of retirement, Chatard rolls. Two way players aren’t going to be able to keep pace late. Good luck to the Trojans.1 point

Linton Coach Brian Oliver posted this on Facebook... In memory of Coach Bowsman, we will be joining schools across the state and turning our lights on at The Roy tomorrow through Saturday. This is to honor a great man who brought so much passion to High School football . Miner nation is sending their love and prayers to Coach Bowsman family & to the West Washington Community1 point

Happy Thanksgiving. The greatest privelege is being born a US Citizen. Never forget that. And not being a Boilermaker.1 point

No one cares. HH has always run 8-10 players two ways in the tournament. Conditioning won't be an issue. Exploitation of 1 on 1 matchups by Chatard is a better argument.1 point

I hope all have a blessed Thanksgiving day! I'll hopefully be visiting again next season, the good Lord willing.1 point

So if it is split in half (again) you are left with 2600-5400. Other than taking the biggest schools out of your team's division does that fix anything?1 point

You picked the wrong player to whine about. Both older brothers attended Lutheran. He attended one of the Lutheran feeder schools. Parents decide where their kids go to school. They have the freedom to choose a school other than the closest union-operated government school.1 point

You obviously don’t understand the rules, as schools have to sign off on players if they don’t move districts, as last season North Vermillion’s 12 only got to play from the second round of sectionals on. His previous school didn’t sign off on him so he had to sit out 365 days of athletics. Plus public schools can’t recruit as private can, which is different then someone just moving. What’s your beef?1 point

Sorry I never taught PE. Retired school administrator. Just a Blockhead Booster who wants everyone to be a winner. Sorry buster not everyone is a winner in a game BUT can be a winner in life when they learn how to compete and give their best in ALL instances.1 point

I love how I can figure out who the veteran fans here are. for Chatard...the guys that have been here every year don’t talk about SOS mattering as much....new guys/non frequent posters scream about SOS. for HH, the vets understand the task at hand. They talk about previous matchups with Chatard....new guys/non frequents talk about recruiting and bite all the baited hooks to defend HH1 point

Hate is a pretty strong word. The GID uses "disdain". Much more fitting.1 point

I would guess that the general Gridiron Digest populous really doesn't care about these "all Indy" area 6A champ games. Too bad the 6A north schools just can't compete against the University of Carmel. As far as the south half, no competition from mid or southern state results in the same representative mix of Center Grove, Warren Central or Ben Davis. It's the same ole same ole, wash, rinse and repeat. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ1 point

I personally find this ridiculous that 2 private schools are in the finals. It should be North Vermillion, who I personally believe is the 2nd best team in the state, vs Adams Central, which would be a good game but Lutheran is too good to handle. ILHS 55 LCCHS 141 point

Class 6a is broken and needs to be fixed. We can all agree on that. If there is anyone who doesn't believe that, then you need to have your head examined........fact. Is there a better idea? If there is, bring it to the table. Splitting 6a into two divisions is the only way to go. If the IHSAA is satisfied with a school of 5000 playing a school of 2000 for the state championship, then shame on them. It can be done. No one likes the idea because it came from DT.1 point

In terms of "Memorial has played far tougher competition'.....that's simply not true. Sagarin puts East Noble's SOS 68th in the state Memorial is at 84. EN has played 6 top 64 teams; Memorial played 3. EN's playoff run saw them beat DeKalb, which lost three games -- two of them to EN; Leo, which lost two games -- both to EN; Mississinewa, which only lost 2 games -- one to EN and one to 2A state finalist Eastbrook; and Hobart, who lost 3 games -- two to 6A schools and one to EN. That's a playoff path against teams that finished 40-4 in their games not involving EN. Parker gets rid of the ball so quick that it's hard to get pressure on him. I do think that if you can force them have to run the ball you can be somewhat successful......I just don't know how you do that. What is underrated is how good their defense is. They have had games where teams have put up 20+ on them, but part of that is the product of their offensive system and how many plays are going to get run. Hobart is a ball control offense and had a 17-0 lead and at the end of the day EN ran 77 plays on offense. EN 35, EM 211 point

After watching Last weeks game feel bad for the Andrean Kid at the end. He got the onside kick just beyond the 10yards and it got called back. Could of been a different outcome1 point

The outpouring of support for Coach Bowsman and his family just reaffirms what I've always said about this game, ultimately it's about relationships. I read an interview with Levon Helm a long time ago, and he made a statement I've never forgotten. "We all start out thinking we're going to change the world, at the end of the day if you just helped your neighborhood, you did alright." You did alright Coach Bowsman!1 point

LOL this was a good one! Carmel is one extremely large high school for sure! Carmel's enrollment is around 5200-5300 students. To put it in perspective, the average D2 school is roughly 3700-3800 students.1 point

Doesn’t look good - and it shouldn’t. But lets be clear, the kids that did this should be punished fully....and as openly as the law allows. Honestly, there’s just no excuse for any of this1 point

Not saying it did or didn't. I get upset too when my team scores a touchdown and it's called back for holding. But after watching the replay, it seems like 90% of the time the penalty is justified by the huge hole the player made by committing the penalty.1 point

Are you sure the Chatard boys don't need to get resized for their helmets prior to this game?1 point

I’ve been following this since I was updated on Friday the coach was headed to the hospital. Sometimes we are quickly reminded how fragile life is and as great as this game we celebrate is, it is minuscule in the whole scheme of our time on earth. My thoughts and prayers are for the family and community that they can find comfort in this difficult time now and in the next couple weeks as we approach the holiday season.1 point

Explain to me how it is fair that they get to recruit but public schools don’t? That’s obviously not fair, as Lutherans best player should be going to a 6A school.-2 points
