Quick thought or 2, finally had a moment to say hello: Tipton looks really good on the a tape or 2 I have seen in prepping for other teams. don't know the story on the RB, but he looks really really good, but of course #87 so...... LCC early schedule has looked to help them catch their stride here towards the end of the season, they will be a tough out coming out of the South. Tough Sectionals for Hoosier Conference top teams: Tipton with Eastbrook, if they get that title, Luers waiting, yea, they are pretty good this year WL once again south with Brebeuf, but no Chatard at least. Hope everyone is doing well out there in the land of Hoosier Conference Football. Cheers my friends and any foes out there 🙂

If your going to seed. All you have to do is send a doc to all 8 Head coaches in the Sectional. And rank them 1-8. Once they are all turned it, send out the seeded Sectionals, along with each coaches vote. It holds the coaches accountable, and there can be bias. It is how they do a wrestling sectional for the most part. We did this for our conference tournament when we were in the conference in Illinois. You could not use Sagarin, because it does not take into affect out of state opponents.

It's when Tom Brady preps them that it often presents an issue.

I really hope we get Mt. Vernon in round 1 of the sectional. I want a do over of that game.

We just clean and apply the wax bar and buff them with the brush. Not really, but we have not touched any of the balls we ordered for this year. We don't need them. The process we are using keeps the balls great for a few years.

Caston @ Winamac - Winamac should control the game. I look for them to win by 30. Pioneer @ Culver - Culver will do their best to control the clock, but I think Pioneer's D will have something to say about that. They fly around and are physical enough to hang with Culver's big boys. Pioneer by 21. LaVille @ North Judson - This is the most enticing game this week in the HNAC. Jays & Lancers both come in with big wins last week and look to stay hot approaching the tourney. I like the Jays by 17 this week. Triton @ Knox - I was impressed with how physical Triton played last week against the Jays. Their RB is a load and I look for their run game to have success on "The Knox Football Team". Triton by 10.

One observation and one question: 1) Wilson GST balls suck, prove me wrong. When they’re dry they’re slick and when they get wet, often times just sweat from ball carriers, they’re slimy. 2) Is the GID where coaches and officials are now getting interpretations?

We reached out to Eastbrook, they had some injuries and did want to build on those injuries. Coach said if it was a couple of weeks ago they would have loved to play us. Just happy we got a game after McC had Covid the day before the sword game

Come on Fox. Seegers is probably 4th or 5th in that sectional and have some issues that can’t be talked about without a media link. State law!

As a Snider fan, I am also sick of our Sectionals just being "SAC Regular Season 2.0" ever since 2013. We get no out of conference play until Week 13, which is absolutely atrocious. SAC needs broken up into East/West or North/South divisions, 5 teams to each. Play 4 games against all other teams in your division, 2 each of cross divisional games and out of conference, and save week 9 for championship week, where each team plays the team from the other division with the same ranking. Then, rather than seeding each class and then basing sectionals off of those seedings, I have a different idea that would preserve the excitement of sectional drawings: at sectionals drawings, instead of telling each sectional which teams are playing each other, randomly pair teams from one half of the state together into sectionals, then seed those sectionals based off of who is in them. It would be wildly chaotic, but would mostly eliminate the issue of teams seeing the same competition in sectionals that they do in the regular season. It would be possible to have Indy teams and South Bend teams in the same sectional, or Fort Wayne teams and West Lafayette teams. There could be a sectional with the top teams in the class. Smaller teams could actually have a chance to build momentum and even make it to a State Championship game. I know a lot of people would be opposed to it, but I can't think of a more exciting way to do things.

Oak Hill vs Alexandria- Oak Hill by 21. Alexandria cannot stop the run and Oak Hill will expose that. Eastbrook vs Elwood- Eastbrook by 56. Elwood is improving but Eastbrook is a machine. Will have the 56 by half. Ole Miss vs Blackford- Ole Miss by 50. If Blackford can field a team they are very short handed. Ole Miss to much fire power. Frankton vs MG- Frankton by 7. I believe these 2 teams are pretty equal. Will depend on who makes the least amount of mistakes.

That’s my understanding but I admit, I got that from other folks here. I’ve not read anything official, though.

If you seed all 8 teams, the worst two would always play a 1 and 2 seed, making for ridiculously lopsided games in round one. Not so if you seed the top 2 and draw the remaining teams. A zero win team would have a 71% chance of NOT playing a 1 or 2 seed in round one. Best of both worlds.

South Side at Bishop Luers Knights roll, and are rooting for the Saints. Final Score: South Side 10 - 56 Bishop Luers Northrop at North Side I know I said the Legends were better than their record last week. I know I said rivalry games play tough. But I really expected the Legends to play better. I think the Bruins have the better defense, but Chambers is a really tough environment. Final Score: Northrop 21 - 24 North Side Carroll at Concordia Not sure who has an easier matchup this week, the Chargers or the Knights. Neon Nation rolls. Final Score: Carroll 49 - 3 Concordia Wayne at Homestead The Spartans come back home for this game pissed after last week. I see them coasting to a win, but something in my gut tells me the Generals could make this competitive. Maybe that's just the frozen pizza I had for lunch. Final Score: Wayne 13 - 42 Homestead Bishop Dwenger at Snider The only people more ticked off than the Spartans this week are the Saints. But while Sparty lost on the road, the Saints lost at home... AND have to travel to another bitter rival this week. The Saints would like nothing more than to play spoil to the Panthers and what little SAC title hopes they have left. As much as it pains me to say, I think they're capable of doing it. If you miss this game, you're going to miss another classic. Final Score: Bishop Dwenger 30 - 28 Snider

That would be a bad idea. Russ Isaacs said it best.............."we're #1 by default." A team from Indy loses one game and they drop in the polls behind an undefeated team from Fort Wayne or Lafayette. The AP poll goes by record only. The coaches poll is better, but not by much. Most coaches are too busy coaching their team and studying who they are playing next, versus worrying themselves about who the Top 10 teams are in their class. Outside of the Sagarin Ratings, the old GID polls of the past are the most accurate that I've seen. You've got a bunch of high school football fans on this forum that live and breath what is going on, not only with the team they root for, but also what is happening statewide. The GID polls, when we were applying them, were FAR more accurate than the AP or the Coaches Poll. And outside of the two closed conferences, the Sagarin Ratings are by far the most accurate thing we currently have.

Thats not the point at all. IF MD is in fact the last seed then so be it. Nobody believes that in fact its a 60/40 MD edge IMO. Im sorry the numbers don't work for the Evansville teams. As I said before drawing out of a hat is caveman. SEED EM! Let IHSAA tell us why MD is an 8 with a straight face.

I don't disagree with the concept of seeding, but the AP poll is always somewhat questionable and Sagarin / SOS is really no longer as reliable as it once was bc 2 of the top conferences in the state (SAC and SIAC) are closed, which screws the numbers up significantly. If given the choice to play MD as the #8 seed or take its chances with ping pong balls, wouldn't #1 seed Linton gladly take the ping pong balls?

Maybe if he didn't spend his freshman season at Westfield, he'd break the record. Or maybe that was his dad's plan all along so he wouldn't be outdone by his son. Anyway, looks like Tipton won the most improved move in with that kid.

And it has been party to many highly scrutinized and critiqued scout film sessions on the LT, apparently. I second that emotion.

Spray that stuff on hands, arms, jersey, helmet, pants ... anything on a receiver that might directly or indirect come in contact with a ball. Also worked well to bring down wasps and on fire ant piles too. Not a big fan of the GSTs either.

I think a lot of their fans would like to re-join as well! They have some good younger grades coming up I think coming back into the PAC would help them for the 1A tournament

In some cases it works that way. But be aware of the difference between an official IHSAA interpretation, and anyone else’s interpretation of a rule. If I am passing on an official interpretation from the IHSAA, it’s going to very clearly say that, and its distribution is cleared in advance at 9150 N. Meridian. If it doesn’t say that, then it’s an opinion.

LaVille lost to North Judson 9-7 last year, but I get what you’re saying.

Forced sportsmanship is no sportsmanship at all. If the kids want to walk across and shake some hands, more power to them. But that single file line stuff belongs in tee-ball.

Here’s the Rule: “Illegal equipment shall always include but is not limited to: “2. Slippery or sticky substance of a foreign nature on equipment, towel, uniform, opponent or on an exposed part of the body which affects the ball or an opponent.” I have never heard an official interpretation of this situation. But for me, a leather treatment that is recommended and provided by the manufacturer is not “foreign.”

Good work....thanks for that. I did something similar many years ago when the discussion of a multiplier was used as a way to level the playing field. My point was that may be a goal, but will never happen. Back then, about half the schools in a given class had a losing record. While the names of those teams may differ from year to year, the number was pretty consistent. My guess is if you did the same thing over multiple years, you would get very similar results.

For the guys who just “hate” that GS is having a “super team” this year and say that they are having a dominant season because of the transfer ins… I say get over it! even if they didn’t get a few transfer ins, GS still would be as good as they are now with these guys. its called “program buy in” and they started this at the lower levels and follow through middle school into high school. im not sure now, but I can recall their 6 th grade boys traveling in “summer fball “ team camps many years ago, So in other words, when many schools are off in the summer, their youngsters are working tails off—- so when school does start - their boys are already a level or two ahead of their pac competition. same with jv -varsity , they put similar work in 7 on 7 and 11 on 11 all off season. More than most schools. GS fans have expected this yrs “super team” to be super back when they were in 6th grade…so GS people and some of us at HH and other PAC schools knew this was the team!! GS needs to be fired up now and enjoy… as when Allen heads off to Purdue… they won’t be as good as this current team… as not every player will be a Brady Allen! They will still be good going forward, that’s because GS built a solid program. GS has only won 3 sectionals and 3 regionals … with their last coming like 6 years ago… so if I were on this team, or a fan at this school, I’d be going crazy too, as this team has the ability to get to Lucas Oil for a State Title game…. Something GS has never been a part of In Football. And if they do make it, I will be pulling for them… they have worked hard as a program to get to this point. GS only makes other schools get better. we have heard this for years at HH (that playing HH made teams) as from 2000 to 2010, HH had won 9 sectionals and 7 regional championships. HH then fell on the downside for quite a few years then fell short in semistate in 2014 and got back to State in 2019…. GS is on the right path, this is their year… and if my Patriots can’t knock them off in the sectionals… I will be pulling for GS … they deserve !

All in conference schedules are the problem. The gap between schools serious about football and those that don’t care continues to widen.

My last comment on this: Our JV would have beat your "competitive" buddy and his former SS Rebel assistant Friday night (even with the EZ view film he was provided). If he wants to worry about something he needs to worry about he fact he had 10 men on the field no less than 5 times Friday night. I would start there. And please just stop with the super team crap. Doing a little research, I discovered that crews have been quite inconsistent in interpreting this rule, despite the pretty clear language. So, I sent the following play situation to Asst. Commissioner Faulkens and requested an official interpretation of the application of Rule 1-5-3c(2) to the situation. As you can tell from the disclaimer at the bottom of my posts, the IHSAA is the only source of official interpretations of the National Federation football rules. On the first scrimmage play after the opening kickoff, Team A’s offense goes directly to the line from the sideline. All of the players are wearing wristbands containing information on plays, blocking schemes, etc. As the offense gets to the line, all the players turn to the sideline where a coach is holding an electronic LED message board containing 2 red numbers and 2 green numbers. The players then look to their wristband for the corresponding numbers, and run the indicated play. It took about 5 minutes for Mr. Faulkens to respond. The official ruling: “Absolutely illegal.” Spread the word.
