  2. Comparing playoff systems to states that have more tumbleweeds than schools is kinda dumb and I’ll say it right to your face!

  3. You can leave my mom Phyllis out of it Yuckas. And I’m as focused as you are at a Chip and Dales show. 2nd and foremost my point is comparing our playoff system to states that have schools spread out so far is almost more dumber than your comment. I gotta go

  4. Coach Wimmer’s 1987 Zionsville team’s 3A state championship victory over Elwood was my first state final. I subsequently worked games involving his teams at Merrillville, Greenwood, and Fishers. He’s among the 2 or 3 best in-game coaches I saw in 40 seasons. Always classy.

  5. Blake Fisher has seemingly made a full recovery from his knee injury. He’s listed as the starter at right tackle vs Oklahoma St in the Fiesta Bowl.

  6. Total bummer. I was really looking forward to going to East. The last time I was there was at a track Invitational in HS….just after the glaciers receded.

  7. 6'5" I thought of Dan McGwire, but he was "only" 6'8" Brock Osweiler is 6'7"

  8. The one thing you know for sure is that these coaches won't end up in South Bend, Gary, or Hammond.

  9. Thru the miracle of conference realignments and other scheduling changes, I will finally get to see Louisville Male that I’ve heard so much about in 2022.

  10. I’d rather see co-ops than 8 man. I swear to God I would. 8 man teams would be spread out more than Patty Ferguson on a Saturday night. I usually don’t agree with Illinois but this is one thing they got right. That and weed stores. I gotta go

  11. Plus it’s against GID rules. STATE LAW!

  12. I agree with the fact that not all coaches want to move on to the next "big thing". I agree that I personally enjoy seeing coaches stay at a place their entire career. However, I don't see anything wrong with these lists. All they really do is give recognition to these coaches. Saying that they done such a fabulous job, that other schools may try to poach them. One could come up with a list of guys who had success at one place. It also wouldn't be hard to come up with a list of guys who had success and then moved on to a larger school or a school that some may think is a better job.

  13. @Rudydoing the some great work once again gathering all the votes/info link: http://www.almanacsports.com/article.php?news_id=2021122701 Nothing too surprising imo. congrats to all. If you feel like someone was missed, sign up for the email and encourage others to as well so you can vote next year. I think I read in the notes on the page that there were a number of schools who had no player with a vote. 425 votes or so total, so that number can get better for sure.

  14. Agreed! These kind of lists always makes me wonder what would the GID look like in the mid-90s. Jerry Brewer and Bob Clayton. Will they get bored winning against their competition and step up to coach an Indy school? No way do the up and coming coaches Mike Goebel and Reed May spend their careers at one school. HS football coaches don’t think like fans (that’s a good thing) and always look for the next big thing.

  15. Brings a whole new meaning to making sure that you have your league insurance coverage renewed for the season.

  16. Can we add the Washington Redskins football program to the contraction list?

  17. My guess is that is the same league, or made up of many of the same characters (literally and figuratively.) Especially the ex-college and wannabe remark. 😀 We played a team from Fairdale as well as a ‘Kentuckiana’ team at a middle school in New Albany. Our last game was played on an open field somewhere in southwest Louisville. No goal posts, which didn’t matter because you went for 1 or 2 like in a flag league. An opposing player didn’t like the whooping we were putting on him and got ejected mid 4th quarter. He proceeded to get in his truck and drive across the field scattering players.

  18. This may come as a shock to some… but many coaches look for a forever home and just stay. It’s not always about the next biggest thing. Lots of the coaches on this list may never leave their current home. Life is about what’s right for you…not what others think is right for you. Even for a coach, there are lots of things in life more important than the profession itself, and what these things might be are as individual as a finger print.

  20. This list of old high schools fascinates me. Like some of these towns are so small I can’t imagine them having a high school. But much different time I suppose. Thanks for the share

  21. Ben Davis made it to the Semi-State 5 out of the last 6 years. I'll take that over regular season wins.

  22. Notice that all the current SCOTUS Justices are skinny. 😉

  23. Discriminatory and unlawful are not the same thing. There are all sorts of discriminatory practices that are perfectly legal. Body size is not a “suspect classification,” like race, sex, religion, etc.

  25. Nope, no argument; just misinterpreted posts, and assumptions made.

  26. Rock Creek should. The administration doesn’t care about football in the slightest. They talk like they do, but they don’t. They have no real practice field and no home game field, honestly just no real respect for what football is. The kids that finished out last year were amazing kids (just 15 of them). Not many kids coming back next year either and only a few incoming freshman. The school banks on transfers to come in from Jeff, New Albany and the surrounding areas, that’s just not happening with lack of facilities. They are on coach #5 in 8 years. I could go on and on but I can see them not having a program.

  27. I was wondering what could have brought this topic to 3 pages lol. To think I missed an argument involving Center Grove and Brady Allen lol. someone should have tagged me 😂

  28. I would be okay with it…but if a team wins the 6A2 title they should move to 6A1. Forget the success factor rules for that still a firm believer that 5A should be 64 teams and 1A should be closer to 32. 6A1 - 16 teams 6A2 - 16 teams 5A - 64 teams 4A - 64 teams 3A - 64 teams 2A - 64 teams 1A - the remaining teams

  29. At the end of the day, it's fun to see your team ranked high in the USA Today Top 25. That's where we're at with Center Grove. Warren Central, Ben Davis, Carmel, Cathedral, and Snider have been there. Some finished 1st, some 4th and 5th, and others 15th. It's a fun poll, that's all that it is. There is absolutely no way to determine where a team falls in the Top 25 without playing one another. Again, it's a fun poll, and that's it. Maybe Center Grove is 5th, maybe they are 25th, who cares. They are state champs and that is what matters most. Center Grove will go down as one of the better Indiana teams of all time, and that in itself is a major compliment.

  30. Albeit lopsided, it still is amazing to me that BD and CG have played each other 6 times in 3 years, with half of those games coming in Semi-State. No matter happens with the HCC, I still hope to see Warren and BD play against CG and Carmel in the regular season. I think to all 4 of those communities, those games still massively resonate. Even if no regular season match-ups, these games will be a blast to attend during the tournament.

  31. Comparing your MOM Phyllis to anyone's MOM is kinda dumb, and I'll say that right to YOUR FACE! Deal with the topic at hand, and "focus"...it's entirely possible that OK has legitimate alternative to that which others have espoused right here in Indiana! All jokes, aside......

  34. That sounds awful, and discriminatory. Don't see how a public university or high school could get away with it.
