Recruiting $ervices only exist for one reason. They have quickly become the travel ba$eball for football players. I wonder if I can trade in my vacation timeshare for a gold or platinum package of my son’s highlights?

Paoli lost quite a bit from last year. Looking to replace 4 out of 5 OL, 2 Slotbacks, 2 WRs and a QB offensively. Defensively, we are replacing 2 out of 3 DL, 2 out of 4 LBs, and all 4 DBs. But every school is replacing guys. We did scrimmage Jeffersonville and Salem right before break. I don't think there were any surprises in what we saw. We were missing some guys we really wanted to look at to see if they could give us some depth but the guys on the field looked like they knew what was going on.

There was a stretch of about 10-15 years around the late 90’s up to 2010 or so when the south side of Lafayette experienced a housing boom and became the trendy part of Tippecanoe County to move to. They were pulling athletes from Jeff, and Harrison wasn’t seeing the growth in their district yet. That trend on the south side stopped with the housing market taking a dump about 12-15 years ago. The families that moved in during their growth period had kids that made up the really strong classes they had up to around 2019. As the housing market recovered, most of the new construction in Tippecanoe County in the past 10 years has been in the Harrison district (note their enrollment growth to over 2000). Many of the young families that have moved to those homes in Harrison’s district now have children that are getting to high school, and their talent pool has improved to the point that they have the best athletic program in the NCC. Jeff has turned things around a bit with keeping their athletes from leaving (as well as poaching a few from the TSC district). McCutcheon doesn’t have a lot of talent in the pipeline compared to Jeff and Harrison, but they will still be very competitive in certain sports (see Volleyball and their connections to club volleyball programs). West Side will always have an abundance of talent with a small but affluent district that resembles the demographics of Central Catholic.

That day was my first trip to ND Stadium, I was row 12, about 45 yard line behind the BC bench. I remember it like yesterday. I thought it would be an ND miracle finish, unfortunately BC had the answer all day.

Gonna have to figure out how to monetize that. You're lucky ... you were at a school where no one on the team had a peanut allergy. See you in a couple of weeks if it's like the retirements that we've seen in the past.

Yes, it’s time. Time to give it up. Call it a day. Head on down the road. Vamoose. Take off. You won’t have ole gonzoron to kick around any more, I’m movin’ on. I’m rollin’ on. I’m flyin’ too high for your little ole sky. When I first joined the GID 12 years ago, it was to bash P/P’s, one in particular. I got schooled on that by a guy whose main mode of transportation is a John Deere tractor. Once I saw the light, I let all that go. When an opening came up in the OOB after a crash, I was all over it. Most of my post count came from those glory days, ah the good ole days. They always say “you’ll know when it’s time” and they were right. I’m going with more positive reactions than anyone in GID History. I know, I know, I’m listed as 3rd in reputation points, but that’s just due to all the downvotes I received in the process. If you all would be so kind, I can still make it to the top with your cooperation in downvoting that guy in the striped shirt and The Professor every chance you get. Thank you for your support. After driving one of my children to an athletic event or team practice for 35 out of the last 40 years, that era has ended also. I’m gonna have a lot of time on my hands. No more waiting at the school burning up gas in the winter and summer, no more phone calls saying ‘practice is over early’, no more cries of ‘you left me at the rest area’, no more peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Because the size of the school is not always indicative of the "power" of it's athletic programs. This is the preconceived notion that the IHSAA's primarily enrollment based classification system has caused.

tutsie is back as d-coord at warren so the grit and toughness should be back new o-coord as well with great experience, warren the next few years will be LOADED...its alot of hate for the far east side and thats to be expected. i also saw someone said the athletes arent there anymore which is so far from the truth....WC has NEVER shy'd away from comp, especially CG or Carmel....truth be told, they, CG and Carmel, dont want to play the MIC schools and yes its political AND comp. ive sat in on plenty discussions from former coaches at all the schools. patterson has LC on the UP, LN IS LN, mallory will do whatever he wants, BD will be BD, and NC, well, when is basketball season?!?

That remains to be seen. I have no clue who is actually recruiting him, but I see him more at a small school. Somewhere like Marian or Wabash.

IU has signed plenty of top in-state kids the last few years. Unfortunately, many haven't worked out. Indiana, nor Purdue, are ever going to win the state in terms of landing top in-flight talent. And I take little joy in saying this, there just isn't enough talent in Indiana to make it your primary recruiting base if you ever want to seriously compete in the B10.

Miami would be a good opportunity then for the B10. Add another huge media market and historically good football program. Miami might not have another choice either.

Sean DeLong might be better characterized at ATH, as he will again this season (similar to last) play RB and WR and some defense as well.

There likely is a breaking point.....just not sure what that looks like. It may be something different for each school. Back in the 20's, Fordham University was a national power in football. After a few near misses at playing in a championship game, the priests running the school decided there was too much emphasis on athletics. The concern in this current era is what schools are willing to do to try to compete. My first thought is other sports will be cut, but in so doing, they will still have to comply with Title IX. Things will be crazy for the next several years.

Just gonna give this thread a bump and share my thoughts and things I've heard. People are saying Hobart is very young but from what I've heard they've been having a solid scrimmage circuit this summer. Their backfield battery of Ehrlich + Gibson is the best in the region outside of Bush + Hart at City. I think they'll be solid, with the potential to make a run in the playoffs, but the sectional is a lot deeper with New Prairie and Culver Academy in it now. Lowell lost quite a bit but they return their QB and they're always tough. I think they take a step back from last year's sectional title, however. Andrean lost 2 really good receivers, the entire D-Line, and some other 3 year starters, but still returns a lot of talent. I know they're bringing back a lot of o-linemen with experience so I'm sure they'll be shuffling guys around offense and defense. I know they scrimmaged Chesterton but I'm not sure how it went. The first three games of the year are a meat grinder with Ville, CP, and Illinois 6A Crete-Monee. I honestly love that Skinner has loaded up the non-conference schedule in recent years with large schools. Combined with the conference schedule, this really pays dividends come tournament time. The sectional overall did get harder with Bremen and LaVille replacing the Niner's previous only competition in Rensselaer. The rest of the teams I don't see as major threats in the conference, let alone the tournament. The most intriguing of the rest is obviously KV, we'll see how they do this year under Kennedy. I think a lot of people are very excited about this hire but I'm still a little skeptical. It hasn't been exactly smooth sailing for KK since he left the friendly confines of the Inferno, and RDP has moved right along without him. I don't think anyone is expecting them to light the world on fire year 1 but seeing a different energy and competitiveness around the program would be a positive. Highland is stuck in mediocrity or worse and has been for quite some time. Not sure they'll ever get out of it. Koulianos has had 4 wins every year of his tenure and they'll probably max out at 5 this year. That seems to be their ceiling. And there's no way Munster should be even close to as bad as they are. Not even a decade ago they were still a solid program that competed for the conference title every year. Honestly, Grunewald seems like a good guy, but I really think they need a new coach. Someone not from the Marsh line, maybe not even a Munster guy at all. Someone to come in there and take the reins of the program and move it in a new direction. The past 5 years have been an unmitigated disaster and I don't think they're going to get better soon with the current direction the program is heading. I'm glad their numbers are up in the lower levels, but will those kids play into high school if the high school team continues to be this bad? Just some food for thought. Anyway, Final Standings Predictions: 1. Andrean 2. Hobart 3. Lowell 4. KV 5. Highland 6. Munster

I would think that's a more likely scenario myself. I just don't see Center Grove getting almost unanimously denied by the HCC only to be re-admitted a year or so later. And I have real serious doubts that Center Grove and Carmel petitioned themselves as a package deal upon entry. Would have to assume there was some serious legwork done by both Carmel and Center Grove before formally requesting membership, and if Center Grove's acceptance wasn't contingent to Carmel, a package deal would have never been on the table. Center Grove and Carmel forming a new 6 team conference with 4 new members makes the most sense. Carmel and Center Grove are too big of names in the Midwest to be relegated to a nearly locked conference schedule. 5 conference games with the ability to schedule other Indiana powers/out of state opponents makes the most sense in my opinion.

What I remember about that game was it was on a Saturday. The previous week, Notre Dame had beaten #1 Florida State and moved into the #1 position in the polls. Our crew drove down to the game together, and I made them turn off the radio which was carrying the ND - Boston College game so we could concentrate on our pregame conference and be as ready as we could be for the game. Drove all the way, got dressed, went through our last minute stuff, and then walked out to the field with no idea what had happened in South Bend. I introduced myself to the chain crew and the first words out of the box man’s mouth were “Can you believe Notre Dame got beat by Boston College on a last minute field goal?” Just what I needed to hear going into a big game.

I assure you, if I’m ever in the area….. I was like 40/41 before I made it to all the remaining “famous” local bars.

As I’ve stated multiple times, I feel that conference Indiana is dead. However, I do believe getting Tech into conference Indiana could revitalize the conference with more stability as far as football goes. This would definitely be more competitive for tech in most sports as well. The MIC sounds great, but football wise it would be a disaster.

I say use the young fella. thinking back to 2013….GS fielded like 7 or 8 sophomores and they showed up and went 13-1. Everyone knew the 2015 class was special and starting them early paid off. I think 3 of the kids started as freshman in 2012 in various roles like long snapper too. point is…we often think they are not ready and that the upperclassmen are better….but if the talent is there….6 weeks in to the season the underclassmen will probably be caught up from tough games. Then the next 2 years you should have a great core that only is improving

CP will continue to improve. Played a lot of juniors and sophomores (and even some freshman) last year. They have some pretty good skill guys in WR Delich TE Malaski and the RB Taiwan (sp?) is a load. I don’t know what Lafayette Jeff has coming back but I think CP can and will win the sectional and possibly a regional. Much tougher sledding come post season time in 5A

Great break down. Leo has their hands full first 3 games. New head coach could be feeling some pressure by the time Norwell comes to town week 3. That being said Norwell returns 19 of 21 starters. The expectation is NE8 champ. BUT… will be a great season with bunch of great Conf games. Preceded by trip to Ole Miss and followed by sectional featuring Delta… get through that and get treated to Chatard…. LETS PLAY 🏈
