Congratulations Coach Wright on his 700th win this past Friday. So fortunate to have not only played for him but to have been a family friend.4 points

No. But before I kick him off the chain crew, I’ll have one of the on-scene police officers administer a field sobriety test. Don’t laugh. I’ve been there.3 points

The ball was definitely tipped. That means there can’t be DPI on the play, but you can still have targeting. No doubt about the call. In general, I thought untimely penalties were a big problem. They had 4 false starts in the first half — all on 3rd down — which killed 3 drives. An unnecessary roughness penalty that was totally stupid. And the targeting call — on a play resulting in an interception that would have sealed the deal — could easily have cost them a game they dominated in the 2nd half. All world Foskey absolutely whiffed on 2 potential sacks when he came unblocked. Pyne throwing the ball into the ground. Sorry, that’s just not a very good football team right now. My hope is that they found out in the second half that running the ball is a good thing, especially when your QB lacks the arm strength to get the ball downfield.3 points

When you failed to mention any Fort Wayne teams as contenders in 5a, I knew right off the bat that you didn't know much about football in Northeast Indiana. I'm guessing it has something to do with your age, 18-22 if I'm guessing right. But your "it's not close" comment really takes the cake here. I would argue that Luers has the harder schedule and it's not close. Andrean is a great program and it's a compliment to say that 2a starts with them. But to Luers credit, they do have 11 state titles in that class. In 2020 they somehow allowed two scores in the final 1:30 that prevented them from number twelve. I'd also argue that they had the best team in 2a last year, but were the victim of an upset early in the tournament. No offense to the Eastside team that beat them last year, but Luers defeated Carroll, Dwenger, Homestead, and North Side. You won't find a better resume than that for a 2a program going back any number of years.2 points

There would be no reason to decline. Enforcement is 5 yds. from the spot of the pass, and the down counts. So, the ball would go over. As a practical matter, an experienced Referee would not even offer B’s coach a choice. Just mark off 5 from the spot of the pass, give the IG signal, together with loss of down, turn around and point the 1st down the other way, set the chains and away we go.2 points

Seems Marshall took a bit too much time celebrating beating Notre Dame....lost to Bowling Green in OT.2 points

It would be Semi-State. Linton is S37. MD is S40. If MD takes the sectional they would likely face Scecina or Brownstown in Regional.1 point

Lol, agree. I thought maybe Wayne would be a contender in the north, but now I'm not sure they can get past Leo or East Noble.1 point

It’s kinda crazy to me that before Coach Hart, Gibson Southern had 5 wins all time against Heritage Hills Hart has 10 wins in his tenure, double of all coaches combined in 1/4 of the amount of time1 point
-
Lol, at this point I'd be fine with 7-5. With Buchner: 75% chance they go 8-4. And 25% chance they go 9-3 Current situation: 50% chance they go 7-5 and 50% they go 6-6.1 point

Stetson Bennett was surrounded by more 5 and 4 stars than Ian Book was. Book was a good college quarterback, just not good enough to win a playoff game with his supporting cast. A guy like Trevor Lawrence could have gotten Kelly his statue.1 point

The last Notre Dame quarterback alumni to win an NFL game was Brady Quinn in 2012. Not saying that matters in College ball, but it's a stat worth noting.1 point
-
I would not say Book was really good. Was he bad? Not really, but he had talent around him. They had a really good run game. He had Cole Kmet at TE. He had Michael Young, a developing freshman at that time. He also had Claypool, he made him look much better than he was. Seeing him in person, what was more noticeable was that he threw after receivers broke on routes, so they were able to gain separation with the cuts, but the late throws allowed the DB to close far more often than not. On long routes, he could not lead receivers. They had to slow down, waiting for the ball to arrive. For Claypool, if it was near him, he was athletic enough to adjust and catch it. To Gonzo's point, I look at the next level. Even Brady Quinn had Jef Smardgsjgdnkfa to throw to, and struggled at the next level. When I think or see "really good", I think that means they are also good at the next level.1 point

Won 10 games each of the last 5 years with the same suspect QB play (Ian Book was really good btw). That’s a testament to Kelly’s coaching abilities.1 point

If you are old enough to remember Keith Jackson's Furry Head and the Favorites on 96WSTO....they did this little gem.1 point

Yeah, the WR comment I made was more for this year. Mayer is def good, but can't rely on solely TE in a passing game. Except when you run the ball effectively which they started to do finally in the 2nd half. Freeman needs to find this team's strengths and use them. Hopefully he paid attention to Tyree. Coaches at too many levels want to run a spread offense even when they don't have spread personnel, it's very frustrating to me.1 point

When you start digging into federal programs for housing, poverty, medical they are rife with this sort of thing. Look at the subsidized housing programs, a handful of companies get rich, and the need for housing continues to grow.1 point

If B declined, ball would be on the the 40 with 1st and 10 for B ... although I'm not sure why B would decline unless, like you said, they didn't understand that he was getting the ball either way. Not specifically sure of placement in high school, but I believe that, if A's QB is less than 10 yards behind the LOS, then it is 10 yards from the previous spot and loss of down. If A is further back than 10 yards, then it's considered a spot foul and loss of down. One change that did happen in 2022 is that, if QB is outside of the tackles and clears the neutral zone with the throw, it doesn't matter if there is a receiver close by or not, it wouldn't be grounding.1 point

May be a GREAT time to enforce that contract that WE (officials) agree to when we accept a contest. Pay back the school(s) for a 'no show'...x31 point

Wow! Elwood and Blackford ened like I thought it would. Frankton and Ole Miss didn't. Frankton's offense is not very good. thank god defense is. might be only saving grace this year. Oak hill handled Mg pretty easy. easier than i thought they would Alexandria beat Eastbrook pretty easy score was closer than game that was played. 1. Oak Hill 2. Mississenwa 3. Alexandria 4.Eastbrook 5. MG 6. Frankton 7. Blackford 8. Elwood1 point

Umm, just so you know, playing Snider, Homestead, Carroll, and Dwenger, year in and year out, and all 5A and 6A schools, is harder than what I have seen Andrean play on a consistent basis. Yes, Andrean plays good team, but just not the meat grinder of a schedule that Luers plays1 point
