No. Chatard has advantages of being a private school that have been discussed ad nauseam on this forum. I won't argue that (although I would argue against anyone saying Chatard "recruits" it's athletes from across the city). I, like many of the public school posters on here, pray Chatard at least wins a regional title, bumps up to 4A, and never comes back down. But Chatard does not have 6A talent. I don't think Chatard has had more than 1 or 2 players with division 1 offers in the last decade. I don't think this current team has any either, although the Chatard posters that are closer to the current team would have to confirm that. Chatard has very good football players, and they have more of them than most 3A schools (see: private school advantages). But they do not have any multiple star athletes that will take over a game like your top tier 6A schools. I watched one of TV's games online, and they look like a very good football team. I expect a good game Friday night. Safe travels down to Indy to all Tippy fans making the trip.

I bet there's a PP/Public thread for this argument. Don't need 20 posts about Cathedral's enrollment in a Chatard-Tipp Valley thread. What kind of offense does TV run? Are they balanced or heavier in the run/pass?

The truth comes out…at cocktail parties and tailgates it’s fun to talk about what the Tigers “would have” done in the 3A they rightfully belong in had the evil IHSAA not unjustly pushed them to 4A. The jacket comment is actually not accurate at all. See 2012, 2013 and 2015. 3-3 in the Hart Hurley era. It was a miracle for us to have been able to compete with an effective 4A program but some how, by the grace of the Protestant God, 3 miracles occurred. Then again I suppose 1985 is more relevant than today. I’d be embarrassed if I wore blue and prayed to be back in 3A. It’s said here on GID that it’s not manly to want the P&Ps to be put in a class that accurately represents their student population. I’ll tell ya what isn’t manly….praying to be in a class were you know you don’t belong, that is the definition of soft if my view. I’ll be sure to thank God tonight for the success Memorial has gifted us.

That was Heritage Hills back in the glory days. Not only would we run 3 or 4 plays, lineman would walk to the line and tell them exactly where the ball was going, and say "good luck". The same play would be run until it was stopped....then run something else, but it typically wasn't stopped.

The current regime at HH has shown no desire to desire to deviate from playing any school other than ones they have played for 20 years. Regardless of the competitive nature of said game. “Shame”. I really with the admins would fix the stupid edit timer.

Fair enough. Michigan fans were jumping off bridges when Harbaugh was 0-5 vs. Ohio State and everyone was calling for his head. I am not an Ohio State fan, but they have owned Michigan the last 10 years, maybe more. The TCU game was an embarrassment for Michigan, plain and simple. You can say it was McCarthy’s fault, but the Wolverines were simply outplayed and outcoached. Transfer portal does count as those players put band aids in areas that need fixed. Michigan gets top talent every year at a very high level. I am pretty sure Michigan has millions of dollars available for NIL as well, at an extremely high level Franklin is just a bad coach, he will not win at Penn State. Just ask Nebraska how playing in the Big 10 is working out for them. USC and UCLA are about to learn as well

I like BNL and JC to both win. BNL is a good team. Jennings County is an improved team.

They’ve had some others…but not a ton. Matt McCann (‘15) started for Purdue. Danny Godlevske at both Miami of Ohio and Oklahoma State. Both the Solomon’s got D1 rides to Illinois and Tulane, I think. Sid Anvoots (‘12) had a ride to Louisville but got hurt early. I think I’m missing one or two others. I think Godlevske and McCann were the only two that started…could be wrong. As regards this year’s group, I heard or read somewhere that Feeney might have an offer from Ball State. One of the lamentations on Yappi from the Elder fans last week (aside from the typical “the sky is falling” stuff) was that they were beat badly by a team with no D1 players. I did note that the Chatard Frosh beat Elder 33-7….which brought on more “the sky is falling” commentary. I’ve never seen such a bunch of negative fans (except one maybe here on the HHC thread).

Couldn't agree more, if it ain't broke don't try and fix it. If you only have to run 3 plays to win the game, then only run 3 plays to win that game. Coach Moriarty does a great job of this.

Sound strategy, but it amazes me how many teams break off from what is working in a game to what they had in their original plan. Can't tell you how many teams I've seen have success with the run early, only to abandon it to go to the pass and then get themselves in trouble all of a sudden.

None of which has come from Chatard supporters.

I would. With that, my submission would have to be the Crown Point Bulldogs. Always decent before Buzea, and now they're an unstoppable force (at least playing NWI teams). Honorable mention would be to Hanover Central. They didn't have football not so long ago, but now they ran the table in a conference of much larger schools (except Andrean). I have to wonder what is i the water every time I drive the Cedar Lake.

I'm shocked to hear a Gibson Southern fan chide what coaching and culture can do for a program. Gibson Southern was an absolute NOBODY until Nick Hart took over. You think GS recent success all under the helm of Nick Hart is coincidental? GTFOH.

You're forgetting vastly superior youth and feeder league support which I have always maintained is Cathedral's biggest strength. Can't go down the rabbit hole with you if you're aren't even willing to put your head in it. Nice Try though!

I'd be all-in on Hartline. Kane Wommack is quietly having a great start to his career at South Alabama after a good stint as Indiana's DC a few years back. You could convince me 64 year old Willie Fritz at Tulane as a 4-5 year band aid solution is a better option. The difference in buy-out between the end of this season and the end of next season is $12million. And while that may seem like a lot, especially if they fire him after this year with his $20million buyout, it's paid over the course of his remaining contract shelf life (5 years). Indiana is about to see a major media revenue boost to start next season when these PAC12 teams are set to join. Current deal is around ~$60 million and figures estimate the new deal to be around ~$90mil a year. Indiana can "afford" to fire Tom Allen after this year. The real question is, does Indiana actually want to invest in the program. I'm talking a brand new practice/indoor facility. A weight room that is exclusive to the football team (they share with other sports). And just an overall salary pool increase to not only attract, but keep quality assistants. You can fire Tom Allen and the next guy might be better, but nothing is going to last until the latter happens. And it may never happen.

Fact. Chatard is just a borish conversation anymore. Nobody would be surprised if they put a running clock on their opponents in every game they have left (one of those comments that I hope doesn't age well). It is just a magical place. For the record, I am torn....I would love to see TV (or anyone!) beat these guys, but on the other hand, I want them to keep winning and get bumped to where they belong.

It really is a same that only GS takes advantage of the flexible scheduling the PAC allows. I feel the other top teams on both sides of the conference are missing out on a huge opportunity.

The recent history for those schools is SR beats Linton four years in a row, loses year five, then has them replaced with Washington. HH replaces VL with MD (a big upgrade at the time), loses two years in a row, then replaces them with Mt. Vernon. I've never gotten an answer as to why either series ended. (SR v Linton, HH v MD) Both seamed to make sense from a schedule and competitive standpoint. In the new PAC most non-conference games are cross division. The only non-PAC games with 3a or larger schools are Washington vs Edgewood (4a) and Tell City vs Hancock County (3a if they were Indiana), and GS vs IMG acadamy.

Absolutely should be seeded. I've never understood why Indiana does this. I'm all for an "all-in" tournament but moving on in sectional and playing extra games should be earned. It happens all too often that a team can have a great regular season only to turn in equipment after the first round because they drew the team they should be playing in the final... Not exactly luck of the draw. This year there are teams that have only won 1 game getting the bye. That should not happen ever.

My “oh my” team of the week is 3A Hanover Central. They moved to a new conference this year, clearly stepping up a level in competition. Nevertheless, they blew through an undefeated conference schedule and last Friday completed a perfect 9-0 regular season.

The question is “who is #65 pushing?” From the replay, it looks like he was in contact with the tackler. No foul.

Paoli's JV finished their season 7-1. Only loss came week 1 against Boonville. Wish I could remember the scores. I know they beat Corydon, Springs Valley, Perry Central, West Washington, BNL's freshman team, North Daviess, and Mitchell.
