2 random jerks? 2 particular jerks? I guess that really depends on the total number of jerks who are on this site then you narrow it down to the number of jerks who care about the 3A final. I think you have to carry the two i there somewhere then multiply by the number of mythical state championships that would have ben won by some random single A team in 1937. Then divide that by the “effective enrollment” multiplier. Then add 100%. But that’s just, like, my opinion, man.

Is it just me or does it seem as if when IHSAA Champions Network replies to a post, they come across as confrontational, condescending or beyond reproach? As if we should just stay in our lane, not as questions or have suggestions and we(IHSAA) are the professionals and you're not. Idk, maybe I just read their replies wrong.

Some history between these 2, some one score heartbreakers with just one win by HH and before this digresses into another "this football game carries the stench of Rome" thread, lets look at the history: Heritage Hills 13-1 VS. Indianapolis Chatard 14-0 This is the 9th meeting between Heritage Hills and Chatard and the Trojans lead the series 7-1. The first meeting between these 2 schools was in the 1997 Regional, The next 6 meetings were in the South Semi State and this will be the 2nd meeting in the state finals. Heritage Hills lone victory in the series came in 2004, The Trojans came into that game as a heavy favorite and were the 3 time defending 3A state champs winning the title the previous 3 seasons. In that game Chatard led 10-0 after the first quarter, Heritage Hills added a Jace Morrison field goal in the 2nd quarter and trailed 10-3 at halftime. The Patriots had a long clock killing drive in the 3rd quarter and tied it up with 2:29 remaining in the 3rd on a Bryce Pund 2-yard touchdown run. Neither team was able to muster much offense in the 4th quarter before Jace Morrison kicked a 38-yard field goal with 8.3 sceonds left to seal the victory. Well, every team is capable of a bad game sometime during the season and that quick 14-0 lead against Homestead in the first 6 minutes was fools good. I do believe that was a wake up call and Snider is very dangerous right now

Homie please have an understanding of what you are talking about before making statements you are not familiar with. If you watched the Moeller EC game you would have seen EC controlled the clock and Moeller only had limited offensive opportunities.

Cp was listed one time as pretenders? proved a lot of people wrong! Just so happy a team from the 219 made it to the finals! sorry to say I believe BD is more talented and speed that will be to much! But the experience for every little bulldog in the stands will build dreams of playing for a state title ! Can’t wait to see what comes in the future for this 219 school. Love the region!

He is a senior and a State Champ. He played at Andrean freshman and sophomore years. Started as a Sophomore. Transferred to Merrillville last season. I think is getting D2 looks.

North Posey 14 Southmont 7 Halftime. North Posey looked to be in control. They were up 14-0 when Southmont finally put together a drive that crossed into North Posey territory and scored with around 10 seconds left in the first half.

When CG took the lead 34-31, I thought there were 2 critical plays in the last BD drive in regulation. The 48 yd pass to Zachary was incredible. QB gets off a tremendous throw just as he was being clobbered by a CG lineman...no way he saw his pass caught. Zachary had been held to one pass completion all game long. Zachary was actually covered very tight by CG defensive back. But the ball was thrown to where only Zachary could pull it down and he makes an outstanding catch.....making it first and goal on the 6 yd line. CG held firm...and the fumble by the BD QB....and it squirted through various hands. If CG recovers, game over and they are moving on to their 5th state title game in a row. But lady luck was with the Giants...they recover, eventually kick FG and history in OT. Amazing how the little things that get almost no print in the paper can play a major role in determining the victor. 2 outstanding teams....both played their butts off and would not back down. Congrats to the Giants!! Go get the title!!

For the most part I thought the officiating was pretty good and I didn’t see the particular play referenced. However, there was 1 play where the Leo WR obviously came down out of bounds and the ref looking right at the play calling it a catch was terrible. I was watching on tv and the 46 crew said something like “that wasn’t even close”. There was a penalty on Edmond for holding so they were still going to get some yards but got about 15 more than it should’ve been.

CG has been in the semi state in the largest class 14 of the last 16 years!! That’s incredible! To me, that’s even more impressive than a 4 peat state champions. Hard to really fathom that stat.

2014, Semi state vs Tri-West. Lost 14-6, TW won state that year. Of 11 Semi-state games, we have only hosted 4. Congrats to Gibson Southern on another great year. I am proud of these Patriots.....they are young and very hungry. On to Chatard....

From my perspective- the Pats totally and utterly dominated the first half in terms of field position (opening kickoff of the game certainly didn’t help matters) and made the big-time “splash” plays needed in order to win a game of this magnitude. While I notice disagreement, I have not read where any program has been "belittled". I sense you really love to express your views, but hate to have them challenged. Congrats to Snider and good luck in Indy. The better team won! I was at the CP vs Westfield game so I have not watched the Snider vs Merrillville game replay. From what I gather from other posts and newspaper articles, Merrillville D played well but offensive struggled. Not surprised by either. Good season for Merrillville nothing to be ashamed of.

Maybe we just celebrate that Indiana HS teams represented extremely well against Ohio and other out of state teams. Confirms the growth and quality of Indiana HS football!!

I've yet to see either of these teams in person, so it's really hard to give an opinion. I do know that some very good teams end their season earlier than what they should have, I've seen it plenty of times. Not really sure in this case. Either way, at the semi-state level, a pretty damn good team was going to lose last night in devastating fashion. Losing in overtime is painful when you're that close to Lucas.

The blustery bravado is amusing given the things Michigan is guilty of. Their best defense is that Harbaugh has no idea what his staff was doing.

The most egregious comment was "that game meant nothing to them for the playoffs in Ohio". They were sitting at 1-1 were going to get 0 points from Ben Davis (because they lost). Were likely not going to get many Level 2 points from FW Dwenger. The East Central game was extremely important for Harbin points! Eventually Moeller was going to get zero points for Ben Davis, East Central, and Center Grove (because they lost) which put them in a terrible spot. Since they beat all of their GCL South opponents it put them in a better spot they still only got 5th in Region 4. They were fighting for their playoff lives after the CG game.

This is NOT accurate. The East Central game meant just as much for Harbin points as the Center Grove game. Once East Central jumped out to a 31-14 Moeller began to throw the ball more. Marshall played the entire game. Well here we are a week later , Hoosiers have not really looked the part in two games vs Army and Wright St (without their leading scorer) Better on Offense but lack of defensive intensity at times has kept them from blowing either team out. Also the 3pt shot and inability to close out on switches as led to team feasting on 3s so far at SSAH. Oh and 3 sure things in life Death, Taxes and a kid from Indiana coming into IU goes unconscious against them from 3 for no reason at all 🙃. With many questions and concerns nothing says get right like a date with the defending national champs in NYC YAY! oh and 6th year senior PG got hurt, bright side is we should come away from NYC at least 1-1 with U of L in the 4 team field though Id imagine it will be a rather close game based on our first 3. On a positive Note , I do love what I've seen from Ware for a guy that has "motor Issues" at Oregon he been solid through the 3 games also good for Queen to see another big guy flourish at IU. Reneau has been the 16 and 8-9 guy I thought he would be. Love the hustle of Cupps off the bench PG is in good hands for 3 years (Boogie who?). Gallow and Johnson have been pretty good as well just have some let downs . Mgbako has been as disappointment ok on offense and dreadful on defense often not on the floor in crunch time. Walker who I thought might be a big piece off the bench has proven why Miami was fine to let him go from a Final Four team. And CJ Gunn is suppose to be a shooter but Airballs a 15 footer on the baseline...… He does some nice things at times but too often forces the issue let the game come to you dude. Banks looks the same , and just not enough of a sample size to register an opinion on Sparks yet. 1-1 in NYC , beat Harvard in Indy and Maryland at home and could head into the first road trip to UM at 5-1 might have this team feeling a playing at a higher level. TBD

But here's the problem with the city CYO argument ... it doesn't explain a school like LCC. LCC has no CYO program. It looks exactly like every other 1A - 3A youth program around this area and draws the vast majority of players for its youth program from the three local Catholic elementary school which technically is two schools as kids go to St. Mary from K-3 then go to St. Boniface from 4-6 or to St. Lawrence for K-6. There are a couple kids each season that come from the other Christian schools like St. James Lutheran and Faith Christian, since those schools don't have football at the youth level, and Faith may start dropping off soon since they've just started playing 8-man ball. The LCC youth program currently plays in the 56er league with Jeff ... which I believe may also play some other area teams too. Before that, LCC played in the Little Gridiron league which played public school programs including West Lafayette, Benton Central, Rossville before they canned football in their area, the three Harrison feeders of East Tipp, Battleground, and Klondike, Delphi, Kankakee Valley, South Newton, and Frontier. There were also a couple of crossover seasons playing teams out of the Monticello Youth Football League. For LCC, there's no "mix-in" of kids that "all want to play together." Just like WeBo, they get what they get and, even a smaller group because they get ONLY the Catholic kids attending Catholic schools as LCC's youth program will not allow a kid to play on their youth team who is from another school that has a football program UNLESS that kid is planning to join the Catholic schools in the next year. Incidentally, what most folks don't know is that LCC has situations where Catholic school families are split between public schools and LCC. Had a kid that was in LCC's youth program and had attended Catholic schools since elementary that ended up playing ball at Harrison for high school while his sister finished her degree at LCC. Had a family that my son played travel baseball with where the younger sons went to Catholic schools, but the older son went to public school to take advantage of a gifted and talented program at the public school that couldn't be matched by LCC. The older eventually headed on to Jeff. Had a kid played ball in the youth program who moved to Brookston ... that kid then played for Frontier and didn't drive back to play LCC. In essence, there's no "all over the city" that LCC draws. There's no "pool" ... LCC, like WeBo's youth program is limited to the kids that go to school locally. In essence, the LCC youth program looks like all of the other 1A-3A youth programs out there based on who they draw kids from. There's no one coming from Carmel to play youth ball at LCC. There's no one coming in from Attica to play youth ball at LCC UNLESS they are paying tuition already in the LCSS schools. And as someone pointed out, there's no logical reason to be paying Catholic school tuition for a 3rd grader to play youth ball ANYWHERE. Also, seriously, if you are coming from "far away" to get into LCC so that your kid can play football at a 1A/2A school to "be a champion," then the logic is severely flawed as you'd be better off moving down to Center Grove and getting a free education, and better offers, if your kid is really that good at 3rd grade. Again, in looking at LCC and using the CYO model argument for successful teams, it just doesn't apply. LCC looks like every other your program in the area in terms of who they play how they are built, etc. The only MAJOR difference that I've seen in most other programs compared to LCC is that the LCC program is less of a "dads' league" focus in the way that they run their teams and also, if they are ever fortunate enough to field two teams at a particular level, the teams are split evenly to the detriment of their season records. What I mean by that, is other programs tend to have a "draft" of players when they have multiple teams and that always works as an adversarial event WITHIN the program. With LCC, all of the coaches for that level get together and form equal teams with the idea that, if those teams ever had to play each other ... which incidentally they do every day at practice ... the record for both would be 5-5 for both teams playing 10 times. Honestly, I've never seen that happen in teams that I've coached against. Similarly to the idea above, LCC's program looks more so like its public school counterparts in terms of thin K-8 feeders. LCC on has the equivalent of two schools that turn out 6th graders and a single school that turns out 7th/8th graders. The one difference that we've tried with this, and this goes back to another post that I had about keeping kids engaged, is that we tend to have multiple kids involved in multiple positions. For example, in a couple of seasons, I only had enough kids for a single 3rd/4th grade team, but I practiced three QBs. It certainly wasn't perfect, and I had my fair share of parents who thought that their kid should be starting or getting more snaps, but a big part of the game plan was that, by design, just about every game, two QBs were probably playing a half game each and, in situations where I knew the game was in hand early or possibly even before the game started, we got that third string kid in there or started the game with the second stringer. Kept the kids engaged and kept them coming back. As you mentioned, the late bloomers are one of the biggest issues that most teams run into either with too many kids pushing out others or the "dads' league" mentality. My former coaching colleague and I were discussing that with a kid that played youth ball and was getting picked on because he was so small. The coaches worked to rectify the picking part and kept the kid engaged. By the time he hit high school, he started growing exponentially and, by his junior year, there wasn't anyone in the hallways who would even think of picking on him. The goal for youth programs has to be how to keep those kids coming back until they grow into their skills and bodies.

One aspect specifically relating to Catholic schools that is often overlooked is multiple K-8 feeders feeding one HS. Looking specifically at smaller classes, but the fact that one HS might have 3-4 QB’s getting quality reps in MS, 6-8 RB’s, 15-20 OL, etc. While their public school counterparts have only one feeder school so competition starts in the 7th grade. Again looking specifically at boys how many public school kids lose interest because their classmates who matured sooner dominated all those positions in MS and walked away. Then the late bloomers are beasts when they’re upperclassmen but they’ve moved on to other things.

Nope I only did residents of Indianapolis because that is all I felt like doing. You want more you put your own fingers to work. Ultimately it doesn't matter. Not but a small fraction of the population of Indianapolis or donut counties will or would even consider going to Chatard. You can toss up all the large numbers you want. Within a few miles radius there are 7-8 High Schools to choose from near Chatard. Knox = 553 students Chatard = 667 students Chatard rosters 77 players 2 of those 77 aren't from a parochial elementary school. I wouldn't be able to tell you how many act of contrition's or signs of the cross the 75 have done but I am sure it is a lot just like the population of Indianapolis.
