We're now postponing games because of wind and rain? So freaking SOFT!!!

Yep.   I guess the QB's in these new-fangled spread offenses can't take a snap from up under center, which would be advised under these weather conditions.

Oh, and it appears players coaching staffs don't like wet or muddy uniforms.  They are icky.

RC at LCC at 8pm ET.  Rain and wind from the NE at 31 mph at 8pm with gusts up to 50 mph.  Better alert the kicking teams, that kind of wind could affect the snap from center.  OH MY!  I bet RC is very happy about this.

Not sure an act of God will slow down the Catholics.  Metzger will just wave his hand over the mid-field and the rains will part for the receivers.  And, if that doesn't work, they'll just keep giving the ball to Meister.

It will be interesting to see how many of these rescheduled games are able to get officials.

I agree this could be a big issue. The IFOA just sent a notice for a couple games and I've received several texts or emails from others looking for officials. We have a fighting chance if the games are spread out over time and not all try to play at noon. The officials from up north can make some money tomorrow if they want to travel south!

50-60mph winds can create a lot of damage and dangerous situations. Many may remember the bleachers at Center Grove getting blown into the goal posts and knocking them over back in August. Power outages are expected tonight as well. It's not a stupid idea to put safety first and wait until tomorrow. Has nothing to do with actual playing conditions.

I'm sure all of that will happen, but RC doesn't throw the ball much and I bet they are still happy about this.  🙂

I agree, especially in S. Indiana, which is expected to get rougher weather than here in N. Central IN. As of 3:30, a few gusts of wind, but nothing out of the ordinary. Off and on rain showers. They say the poop will hit the fan around 5pm and continue until almost midnight.

Updated kickoff times, all on Saturday, are as follows:

Lawrence Central at Center Grove, noon
Terre Haute North at Columbus North, noon
Greenwood at Perry Meridian, 1 p.m.
Indian Creek at Edgewood, 3 p.m.
Franklin at Mooresville, 4 p.m.
Edinburgh at Switzerland County, 6 p.m.
Whiteland at Martinsville, 7 p.m.

Bus travel is likely a consideration tonight with the high winds in the southern part of the state.  Wind gusts like those expected can cause problems for busses.

Lawrence North and Ben Davis postponed to 11:00 am on Saturday.

I live two miles northwest of Ben Davis and it's raining hard, and the trees are really moving as the wind gusts have really picked up in the last 10 minutes or so.  It's too dangerous to even be driving to a game tonight around here.

I am guessing downed power lines and related risks are factors?

I am a coach on a team, we arrived to play our game last night after driving in high profile buses in 50-60mph gusts and moving all over the road because of those gusts.
We started warming up on the field and as we were warming up, a power line snapped 5 poles and a transformer blew at the school. 75ft from our buses and maybe 150ft from our players and our locker room, in full view of everyone at the field. Power lines on the ground were causing smoke and a fire was trying to start because of those downed, still live, lines.

We had parents texting us about downed trees across roads so that we could plan our trip back to the school safely. We then had to talk to our kids about what to do if they come across downed lines, downed trees, and flooded roads because we had 16-18 year olds driving home in that weather.

As coaches, we have the responsibility for the health and safety of each and every member of our team. Last night's weather was dangerous for much of those in the state. It's not about how pretty the game is going to be, or how inconvenient getting soaking wet on the sideline would be. It's about the lives of the players, managers, and coaches of the team. Sorry if it ruins your Friday night entertainment, some things are more important.

R.I.P to all the grass fields after today’s games.  Won’t be recoverable after and hour or so of play.

I’ll never understand the people who get enjoyment from playing/watching the game in mud/slop conditions. Like- you enjoy watching a subpar product and just overall misery??

Anyway- the show must go on as they say!

The weather is no better today. Raining worse in Columbus/Seymour right now then it ever did yesterday.

Confusing to me that so many couldn't play last night, but can today?

It's an outside sport. 🤷‍♂️

It didn't ruin my Friday night entertainment, I was doing more important things for most of the evening.

It wasn't the rain that was the issue. It was the high winds. Sustained winds over 30mph, Gusts in the 50s. Indy Airport recorded a 68mph wind gust. That causes power lines and trees to fall. There was a tree that fell on a Puntam County Sheriff car on 40 while he was stopped investigating another downed tree. I drove past multiple trees down on power lines, I saw power lines go down in the wind. Todays winds are 10-15mph, maybe gusting to 25.

I thought you were always concerned about the safety of the children.

It was light rain and no wind during our game this morning at 11. Last night we had torrential rain and trees being blown down. I'd say it is much better today.

I live right by Decatur Central, and it got quite dicey. I know there were trees down around here and some people still don't have power.

We had a brown out, but not lengthy outage.  I'm thankful for that.  On my way to the gym this morning I saw a lot of limbs down bur no trees down.  I'm sure glad it's over!
