Many of you have probably never heard of Freddy Toth (GS RT #70) This kid was amazing all season and particularly in the playoffs against some of the best DEs 3A had to offer. Have to include this quote from his Mom on a Facebook post. “When Freddy was just little, he explained his position to me like this— “Mom, if Brady is behind my butt then I’m doing good.” He did good!!! ❤️“4 points

Well, not the ending we wanted but a great game, nonetheless. Both Defenses showed their strength and, in the end, a fumble deep in MD territory turned the tide. #34, Bowen was the best player on the field. He took the game over in the 2nd half, leading Andrean to a well earned victory. Congrats to the 59'ers. As for the Wildcats, not the end result we wanted but so very proud of the team & its overall effort Saturday. The Defense came to play and the Offense gave it their best but came up short against an equally strong Andrean defense. I knew Andrean would be bigger in some areas but it seemed every player at every position had about 20 lbs on us. 💪 In the end, we came up a little short but we could not be more proud of the team and the overall season! Thanks to this awesome group of Seniors: Tyler Martin, James Ralph, Nicholas, Boots, Eli McDurmon, Will Carter, Cole & Dane Wilson, Pierce Wolters, Bryce Humphrey, JT Mayer, Calvin Stratman, Ryan VanBibber, Luke Burgdorf, Jay Schiff, Nathan Koressel, Colin Maurer, Mason Eichoff, & Landon Elpers... Thanks for your leadership, dedication & effort over the past 4 years. Your collective effort has once again lifted the team, the school, and the West Side community and given us something to take our minds off all the other craziness going on the world...if only for a few hours a week. Can't wait until next year...3 points

Not shabby for a team that was not supposed to be able to hang with one of the greatest Indiana football teams of all time, at least according to some of the "experts" on this forum....LOL I feel for the kid who dropped what would probably have been the go ahead TD and PAT with not much time left in the game. Then two plays later, Webster throws the interception. Who knows why he threw it where he did. Westfield did show the state that they belonged in that game. Back to back 12-2 seasons and 6A runners up in just their 4th and 5th year of playing in the "big boy football class".3 points

And I will admit this. It is not now, nor ever would be my position to question a coaching decision, a player's decision or otherwise. My concern is to officiate the game to the very best of my ability with 4 other guys. Then hope that nothing we did was a deciding factor in the outcome. Grover, you and I have conversed for years. It's kinda nice to be able to speak with "legacy GID members" in a respectful manner about a game that we all love! Westfield is a heck of a program. Coach Gilbert is a damn machine with his ability to mold them into his image: Tough, hard-nosed and pressing! As for Center Grove....well, I would think that those who anticipating them to lose relevance may be sadly disappointed. Coach Moore seems to "re-load", not re-construct, IMO. As a FW/Northern Indiana guy...I'd like to thank those in the HCC/MIC for allowing us to "make an appearance" in the tournament each year (by rule). 😕2 points

I was pleased to see that the officiating was pretty good for all 6 games. Not perfect, there will always be a few misses. But officiating was a non-factor this weekend, just the way we like it.2 points

Brady Allen is a much better QB than Jackson, I don’t care what the rankings say. I’m actually floored that Jackson is going to a respectable SEC school. I get it, he has the size/mobility that coaches drool over but his mechanics/footwork need major improvement and he really hasn’t played in an offense where he needs to make multiple reads and go through progressions down the field. I think he’s in for a rude awakening at the next level, similar to what you saw with McCulley at IU this year. And I say that as the biggest IU football fan there is. Curry is the best football player in the state in my opinion, but it’s a stat/offensive award and Allen wins in that department. It’s a two man race and I’m fine with either getting it, both are deserving.2 points

I thought last years Center Grove team was better than this years team. Center Grove this year benefitted from a pretty weak 6A in my opinion. Ben Davis, Warren, Carmel, the usual cream of the crop, were all considerably down in my opinion. Westfield was a good squad and definitely the second best 6A team by a wide margin but historically I think just ok. 2016 Ben Davis 03-06 Warren teams I believe were all better than this CG team.2 points

Lol. You waited 12 weeks to dig this up? Enjoy the bucket friend. BTW, Joe Strickland didn’t impress me at all Friday. Brady Allen on the other hand…2 points

Who are the best teams in the country at this point in the season? Here's what my eyes are telling me: 1. Georgia - no one can dispute this. 2. Michigan - One blemish in arguably the strongest conference in the country. And they were up two touchdowns on the road that game against a team that was ranked #7 at the time. 3. Ohio State - Leading MSU 49-0 at halftime was an eye opener. They lost yesterday in Ann Arbor..........so what. I'm not sure Georgia would have won in Ann Arbor yesterday. 4a Cincinnati - They've looked VERY good at times, but struggled against some really bad teams. If they beat Houston by two scores, I'll be convinced that they are the one of the top four teams in the country. 4b Notre Dame - Quarterback play, offensive line play, and defense is vastly improved since their loss to Cincinnati. The Irish had GT down 45-0 at the half just one week ago. It took Georgia all four quarters to do that against the Yellowjackets. Something to think about. 4c Oklahoma State - Still not completely sold on this team. They had some very close calls against some sub par teams. But they've also had some impressive wins..............or did they? They play in the Big 12. 4d Alabama - I wish Auburn would have just put them out of their misery yesterday. But Alabama found a way to score their only touchdown on a 98 yard drive with 1:45 to play. That luck runs out next week after they lose by multiple scores and the Bulldogs send them packing out of any playoff talk.2 points

Proud of our boys and their playoff run. Great experience for our community, can't wait to do it again. Mt Vernon had some crazy speed for sure.2 points

Just saw where Prince Powell of Warren Central committed to Indiana State. Good for Coach Mallory to be getting some MIC talent.2 points

This weekend is the OHSAA state finals in Canton. On Saturday we will have 3 MAC schools competing for a state championship. 2 from Mercer County which borders Adams & Jay in Indiana, and 1 from Darke that borders Jay & Randolph in Indiana. Hopefully they all can win, but any hardware is always nice. Another year both sides will bring hardware home. South Adams last year and Adams Central this year with runner up trophies. Last year Ohio brought 3 championships home with Van Wert, Coldwater, and New Bremen. This year Marion Local, Coldwater, and Versailles will try to bring titles home. NW/WC Ohio doing well and NE/EC IN starting to get back on track.1 point

Fair enough on Caden. He was doing what he was instructed to do within the framework of the team. He did it very well. He has other tools such as swimming that he doesn't use. But he has them. He is a freakish athlete. Can't wait to watch him in the coming years. Amen on the one perfect guy. No sweat on the missed call. I just find it interesting hearing what all comes into play but respect the fact that it can devolve into ref-bashing of which I'm not a fan. Didn't realize you worked the game. Congratulations. It's obviously quite an honor.1 point

My Umpire played at Louisville (D-Line). I "participated" at UK (Strong Safety)... As the 6A game continued, now this is the ONLY time we've seen either team recently.... But we both felt that he needed a more physical approach to the O-Linemen who were double teaming him. Absolutely, Curry was THE BEST DEFENSIVE lineman that we've seen this year, so this is not a knock on him....just an observation of what the situation entailed. I'll take the hit on this one! Only one perfect guy in the world, and I ain't him.1 point

Not really. There were a few misses, but not many. Some outstanding work as well. If you have a question about anything in particular, I’ll try to answer it. But I don’t want to list the few errors I saw, since I’m guessing upwards of 99% of the people who watched didn’t know they were errors.1 point

I honestly don't pay attention to Divisions 1 & 3 over in Ohio. Hardly any teams in NW/WC OH in those divisions. Sort of similar to 6A-4A here, unless one of our NE/EC IN teams are representing. About 20 counties in Indiana and 20 in Ohio I mark as those areas. Northridge would technically count in my 20 area county teams as well. So kudos to them for a runner up trophy as well.1 point

This will sound crazy to some but Curry wasn’t even the best “high school” football player on the field yesterday. Sorry not sorry but I said it1 point
-
Agree the stats GK3 had were off the charts. I just think Curry has more of a presence where he served as the catalyst to the team which is responsible for such amazing success which may give them top 5 ranking nationally after this weekend. If I am a betting man I say Allen gets the award and would be well deserved it would just be curious to see how close the voting will be under these circumstances1 point

he isn’t even the best qb in the state their schedule is trash I’d take curry or Jackson over him, they proved it every week against superior competition https://247sports.com/Season/2022-Football/RecruitRankings/?State=IN1 point

Warren central in the mid 2000s is the first one I think about. Won 3 straight and were ranked in the top 10 the whole time I believe?1 point

Lol, again, no props for the offensive lineman. According to 247, Kiyaunta Goodwin is your Mr. Football. No one has more offers than that kid.1 point

The clock is ticking. Question is, is it a sundial or a doomsday clock? HCC’s overall Sagarin was 5 points better than the MIC this season. But, even if both Westfield and Zionsville had won this past weekend I’d still say MIC is #1 by a whisker. The keys for both conferences in the next few years will be 1.) do the teams on top reload or are they going to have a huge drop off. 2.) Do the teams in the lower half of both leagues improve. in my opinion it’s more likely CG, Ben Davis and Carmel reload and complete for another championship. WC was young and will be a factor. Brownsburg the same. Westfield lost some outstanding talent but had great JV and freshman teams. And HSE will be a threat. It certainly looks like the bottom half of the HCC is stronger and the league is more balanced than the MIC. The real question is, which happens first…. an HCC state championship, or a new 16-team super conference?1 point

This was a given. So what about the strength and conditioning coach? I’m just as concerned with all the injuries as I was with the play calling.1 point

Westfield gave CG one hell of a scare and dropped a sure TD pass immediately prior to the CG pick that sealed the game. Gave em a better game than any MIC school did this fall. Great contest. That didn’t stop the MIC slappies from exhaling and touting their conference superiority on Facebook when the clock hit 0:00. Tick, tick, tick…the MIC is on the clock.1 point

I don’t see that OK State’s schedule is much stronger than Notre Dame’s. I would add that the one loss for each stands out. ND has a loss against a team in the top 4. OK St. Has a loss to an unranked Iowa State team.1 point

100% Lburg and Brebeuf both put their D1 studs on his side looking for a mismatch and they were treated to something like just 1.5 sacks total. Pretty good for a kid who had to defend a Purdue and Notre dame DE for 8 Qtrs….pretty amazing for a kid who got 0 mentions all year despite holding down the right side of the line Im biased in this….but Wabash College would love a guy like him on their team. Great education, Great program….would be a great fit1 point

Here is exactly the reason I quit worrying about this crap years ago, you can have any kind of system you want, if you’re not going to live with it, what’s the point? #2 ranked crew who was eligible was sitting at home this weekend. #23 crew who was SS eligible did not work a regional. Rumor has it the 6A crew was observed yesterday for the 8th time this season, can ANYONE explain the point of that? Perhaps I’m jaded, perhaps I’m just cynical, or perhaps I’m just tired of being pissed on and being told it’s raining.1 point

Chronic whiner. I don’t suppose there’s a possibility his usual disregard for officials is amplified by the identity of the Referee on this crew? In any event, I left at halftime. But I spoke with 7 other observers who also watched the first half. The overwhelming consensus was that the crew was having a very nice game. Not in high school.1 point

You were right. That momentum from the Strickland commitment propelled Purdue to an 8-win season and made IU go winless in conference. Just imagine if he had chosen IU and all that momentum went the other way. IU may well have been playing in the upcoming BTCG for a spot in the playoffs. #LEO1 point

I’ll give you that but when the purpose of replay is to correct potential errors on the field and they STILL get it wrong, it’s an embarrassment. Then to release an “our bad” statement ten days later is salt in the wound.1 point
