  1. No student at Pike Central had every seen a football playoff win in their entire lives. They did last night.

  2. Good set of games coming up this week with some good measuring stick components to them. I'll be following along online, but will be attending Harrison vs. Plainfield. My son's started varsity the past two games ... his first varsity starts although he played varsity last year ... and may have a chance to start in his first sectional game on Friday. Can't miss that opportunity if it comes to fruition!

  3. I think Hamilton South Eastern could compete for the NAIA title.

  4. I’m just a former player who was no good and hardly played but loves statistics and following the team. I’ve been here for since like 2011/2012 and it’s been the same thing with me the entire time. It’s just my opinions lol like who are you fooling…everyone here already has their opinions of me and they have been set for a while…I’m not losing credibility 😂 I barely have any to begin with. I’m just myself….and I’ve been myself the entire time. and guess what…in 10 years I’ll probably still be here talking Gibson Southern/3A/4A/SIAC vs PAC….because that’s what I’ve done the last 10 years and it’s what I like talking about and debating

  5. No disrespect to Liptons but they really haven’t done anything in 2A yet so let’s not say they’d compete for a 3A title. They had their hands full with South Vermilions last night before pulling away late. I gotta go

  6. What does Pike Central have to do with anything? In your format, the Mount Vernon, Ben Davis, Brownsburg, South Putnam and Oak Hills lose to good teams in the first round anyway. Only good teams would be allowed to play in the tournament so only good teams lose in the first round of the tournament. Your issue really is, you don't like that Pike Central won a game in the tournament. Not that those other teams lost.

  7. The Irish radio network just replayed the end of the 2006 Irish game against UCLA. It was the last regular season game I witnessed at ND Stadium. Quinn to Samardzija with 26 seconds left for the Irish win. We were sitting on the other end, but we celebrated anyway! We went to many games and bought tickets from someone on campus. There were no tickets anywhere to be found, so one of us stood in the ticket line while the other one scoured the area for tickets. We finally got to the ticket window, and the lady says, "how many?" and I said "two please." After paying for the tickets the lady closed the window and announced that tickets were sold out. We had just bought the last tickets. I look at the tickets and they are 8 rows up in the endzone, but we were in the stadium. As it turned out we were in seats next to the tunnel! We got to see and talk to players and coaches and it was the best seat I ever had in my 30 or so trips to Notre Dame. Ater the game, NBC interviewed the two heroes right in our endzone, and as they left the field after the game, we high fived Quinn and Samardzija! Good start for the Irish!

  8. IMO Central can thank the culture Andy Owen developed at Central. Win at all cost, disrespect your opponents, hire unqualified friends, and turn a blind eye to all on and off field problems. Just win baby!!! They lost back to back HC that could flat out coach but couldn’t straighten out the dumpster fire created by AO. Now the program will suffer for the foreseeable future.

  9. I wish we got GS vs Reitz this year. The shit talk between y’all would be almost as exciting as the game.

  10. Back in week one, when Westfield played them at their place, the announcers said the same thing. I know Westfield coach Jake Gilbert said that prior to last week, they were 5-3 with all three losses coming to undefeated teams, New Pal, HSE, and Brownsburg. He mentioned that New Pal was the best of those teams. Guess we'll never know for sure. And Bud Wright keeps on winning. This was his 100th playoff win!

  11. I thought going in we could win by three score. Never dreamed we would have to put up 63 to do it. Lincoln has a good squad and I agree, they will be darn good next year.

  13. I’ve said for the last decade the SIAC needs to elevate their level of play to that of the PAC. I think they are getting closer but not there yet. I thought Memorial was there but then they couldn’t get to state that 4th time in a row. Keep grinding SIAC. Next year is the year.

  14. First, you understand that when there’s a potential injury involved, the officials are going to err on the side of caution. So, regardless of the circumstances, you have to take it seriously, when a kid goes down. If I were absolutely sure the kid was faking, e.g., I heard his coach tell him to go down, I’m ignoring it. If one of the other crew members stops the clock, I’m going to start it again. If they’ve finagled it so that they are going to be able to run another play when they shouldn’t be able to, I’m going to use the “God rule,” and end the game. But I have to emphasize, if a kid goes down, we’re going to take it seriously until there’s clear and convincing evidence to the contrary.

  15. How does no one in the SIAC beat the 7th place team in the SIAC by more than 20 points, yet a PAC did? How does the #1 team in the SIAC only beat the 7th place team by 3? So many ponderables.

  16. Agree. And just like most of us, I doubt if they're interested in listening to some anonymous blowhard in an internet chatroom.

  17. I was toad by a HOF coach that they would have won 3A and been a tough out in 4A.

  19. Since the first (and only) sectional win in school history, Pike Central has drawn and lost to Heritage Hills (65-7), Mater Dei (56-0), Ev Bosse (83-23) and Gibson Southern (63-6). No one seemed to complain, yet for the first time in 20 years they win and its a travesty. If you can’t find The Fish Hut on a map, feel free to sit this one out.

  21. Just curious how 3A Pike Central has ANY influence at all on 6A Ben Davis, 6A Brownsburg, and 1A South Putnam? Just chaff? Incidentally, this same thing will likely happen in a qualifying system too, except it will be 5-4 playing 5-4 while 9-0 plays 8-1 ... or, by Sagarin, #31 3A vs. #32 3A while #5 3A plays #2 3A. The issue isn't with all-in; it's with a lack of seeding / blind draw. The only way to avoid that problem is to make sure that only 9-0s and 8-1s are allowed in the post-season. I suspect that the complaint at that point, however, would be two 8-1s met in the first round and so did two 9-0s.

  22. Those are facts that irrelevant to Temptation because the best team in the state apparently can't have a close or tough game with someone, especially a second game against their biggest rivalry in the playoffs and on the road. So I guess there are no "best" teams in the state if what Temptation or SportsFreak is saying is true. smh

  23. Yes absolutely the best team in the state!

  25. There is precedent set by the IHSAA on this. In 2013, Silver Creek was scheduled to host Reitz in the second round. Because of a lack of seating, and the crowd expected to follow Reitz, the game was moved to the Reitz bowl, with Silver Creek wearing their home colors and being the home team on the scoreboard. Had Jasper of lost in the other half of the bracket, Reitz would have hosted the sectional finals (even though they were the home team in the first round.)

  27. Our game was over when we got the safety. Defense has been huge all year. Last night the offense did what they needed to do.

  28. To add pike central I believe has played 11 games once in their history 2002 where they went 3-8. a win this week would be the most games ever played in a season from them I believe. Definitely rooting for them

  29. But, if football was played in 2020, and no one was there to see it, was it really played then? I jest.

  30. Could this be why? Also, does Shortridge still get credit for hosting that game because that could affect where Roncalli has to play in future more important contests if not…

  31. Oh and good win GS. But not unexpected. VL. You’ll are going to be a force next year in the SIAC. You have potential to win the conference.

  32. Yes they might be. Not understanding this reply at all. They beat a good team on the road by double digits in a game that wasn't that close. Nevermind the fact it was a rivalry game. If not for a very questionable call that took a TD away from New Pal at the end of the 1st half and New Pal electing not to score late that game could have easily been 25 point + margin.

  33. Let me start by saying I think Mount Vernon is one of the most improved teams in the state and if I heard correctly last night starts a 15 year old at QB. That being said, @MonkeyButt likes to use the transitive property in his argument that New Pal could be the #1 team in Indiana regardless of class. Well, that can work both ways. New Pal was trailing in the 3rd quarter and defeated a Mount Vernon team by 11 points. Mount Vernon also lost to the HCC’s 7th place team (Noblesville) by 8. HSE and Brownsburg beat Noblesville by a combined score of 83-42 this season. Let’s pump the brakes a bit.

  34. But New Pal is probably the best team in the state, right Monkey Butt?? They should run through 4A right???

  35. I’ve been following along all the different threads tonight and continue to read your messages making excuses and trying to belittle what sounds like an incredible game by both teams. Just go drink the crystal clear waters in Gibson county and enjoy the opportunity to play another week. Whine @$$

  36. It was touch and go there for a while. Refs were pretty horrible to but we overcame that.

  40. I don't want to give away any game strategy but GS pulled all their defensive starters midway thought the second quarter and played the frosh kids. Something about protesting the all in tournament, I dunno. Or not. Just what I heard from a parent that was there.

  41. Well that didn't quite work out. I was nervous about Southwood's offense, but outside of one drive it never showed up. Does Northfield beat Madison Grant next week?

  42. Special teams the difference tonight. Lincoln had a bad snap that resulted in a safety and gave up 2 kickoff returns for TD. Both offenses incredible. Xander Hunt with the game of his life so far. Looking forward to his senior season

  43. That game alone keeps the narrative alive. Shouldn’t need to motivate yourself to play a tournament game regardless of circumstances and should not need your best player to beat the HCC’s doormat team. I’m an “Indy guy” in name only. I’ve been very vocal about my desire for a true northern team to breakthrough and take 6A.

  44. Vincennes at Gibson Southern Vincennes was a very big surprise as at one point they were in 2nd place for the SIAC, and a few plays away from being 6-3, however, a 3 game skid has not helped their case towards the end of the regular season. But, they have a young squad ready to improve too, with a solid dual threat QB in Hunt and a ball hawk defense. As the Alices always seem to have a defender on a receiver or quick enough to stop a big gain. And getting 10 sacks on the season. While the season has been up and down, Vincennes has shown lots of light too. Like beating Mater Dei 31-28 in a nice bounce back game after their last second loss against Reitz in the previous week. But it has been a rough couple of Weeks for the Alices and it gets even harder tonight. Gibson Southern ran through the PAC again going 9-0 for the 5th time under HC Hart, while getting some nice wins over Terre Haute South Vigo and Kentucky 5A South Warren (Avenged last year’s loss). Jr QB Boyd has taken the reigns under center after Brady Allen graduated and has done an excellent job all year around. While RB Roberts has paved his way on the run game behind a Solid OL. Not to mention on a solid defense giving up 14.1 PPG, while living in a QB’s backfield totaling 24 sacks and 80.0 TFLs. With strong performances by the underclassmen on the team. Gibson Southern has poised itself an 3A favorite all season long, as Titans hope they go back to back. I think this this will be a fun matchup, and Vincennes will be playing for their lives too, however, I’m going to take the Titans by 3 scores.
