  4. Since I haven’t seen anyone else do one like we have in years past, going to run the pick ‘em league this year. Going to be 11 games per week, with Week 9 having 12 games, making the total 100 games for the season. If this catches on we can discuss whether we want to do a different one for postseason or just add it onto this one. Going to try to get most areas of the state every week and have all classes represented. Going to try to pick games that project to be competitive to make this a little difficult. Also going to omit any games versus out of state competition in order to make this completely about Indiana. With all that said here are the Week 1 Pick ‘Em games: 1. FW Carroll @ Hamilton Southeastern 2. Lawrence North @ Avon 4. Warsaw @ Michigan City 5. New Palestine @ Westfield 5. Chesterton @ Hobart 6. Leo @ Kokomo 7. Jasper @ Evansville Memorial 8. Western @ Tri-West 9. FW Concordia @ Indianapolis Scecina 10. Perry Central @ Tell City 11. Tecumseh @ South Spencer

  5. It will take a lights out effort and an off night by Reitz for them not to go 9-0. That still may not be enough this year in the regular season. Playoffs bring a different element. A hiccup there and it’s season over.

  6. Right...just accept stupid Sh!t and just try harder.....way more manly that way.

  7. It was a pretty big game for both teams, since both teams were sitting at 4-3 coming off close loses. I still think Reitz is the team to beat, but so far in the new SIAC, there has yet to been a repeat champion. But Reitz is loaded everywhere and wants to make a statement after last years exit. It should be a fun year in the SIAC, since there is going to be lots of battle between 6-7 teams.

  8. I don't know about each team, but some of best players in the WRC this year would be the qb from SV, qb from NV and the qb from FC. I feel like all the other schools graduated their playmakers. I'm excited to see who steps up at all the schools!

  10. Brownsburg at Bishop Dwenger - The Saints may have one of the toughest first five weeks in the state, excluding Center Grove's nightmare schedule. Coach Garrett's squad has lots of questions to answer, and it seem this year is trail by fire. Dawgs start the season by testing the tranches with their two-headed backfield. Brownsburg by 31 Carmel at Homestead - A lot of people are overlooking this game but I think it could (key word here) be interesting. Both teams are coming off of disappointing seasons that showed potential. Both teams graduated a ton of talent that leaves a lot of questions on the field. History says that the Greyhounds should have this one, but I think Sparty could make this one closer than some think. Carmel by 14 Carroll at Hamilton Southeastern - In a class that has been dominated by the South, teams in the North usually know they have to go through one of three teams: Penn, Carmel, or Westfield. With all of those teams having "down years" last season (Penn has been down for a while now), it opened the gates for some new players to establish themselves. The Royals and the Chargers both return key talents to their teams and look to solidify their status as true contenders. Jimmy Sullivan enters his junior season looking to do what a Fort Wayne team has never done: win a 6A title. That journey starts in in Fishers this Friday. Expect fireworks. HSE by 3 Concordia at Scecina - The Cadets saw the return of head coach Tim Manningel last season as he tries to recreate the magic of his 2016 state run. The Crusaders, however, are a consistent 2A program, if nothing else. Their last two years saw back-to-back 10+ win seasons. I agree with @IPFWFootball and think this is a great challenge for the Cadets to schedule on repeat. Scecina by 17 Luers at East Noble - The Knights of the Fort Wayne variety were hit by the graduation/transfer hammer harder than any other team in the area. The Knights of the Kendallville variety, however, are building off a young team from last year. Both of these teams will be exciting to watch over the coming years, but Coach Lindsay's team is in for the long haul this year. East Noble by 21 Northrop at New Haven - The Bulldogs have arguably the best player in the state on their team, alongside a skills room full of electric players on the offensive side of the ball. Their trenches, however, seem to leave much to be desired. Coach Bowen could start the Bruins' season off with a solid win with his "Leadership Council" if he is able to put pressure on the Bulldogs' QB. New Haven by 14 Snider at Warren Central - The Panthers are on the path of reestablishing themselves as the team to beat in the SAC. This year's team should be reminiscent of years past with a run-heavy offense. Whether star running back DeAlcapon Veazy is going to play is yet to be seen, but he could possibly be the key this team needs. The Warriors are also looking to recall dominance of years past with a stacked, but relatively young, team. This will be a game that sets the tone for both teams going forward this season. Warren Central by 10 South Side at Marion - New culture for the Archers comes in the form of new HC Andre Goodwell. Can he bring a very young Archers' team out of the depths of the SAC? The challenge starts with the Giants. South Side by 7 Crispus Attucks at Wayne - I honestly might know the least about this Generals' team out of all the SAC teams this year. However, I do know that Coach Haydock has likely been scheming in his mad science lab all summer, and should have some fun in store for us. Wayne by 21 CLK's Game of the Week: Northridge at North Side - My personal game of the week. With all eyes in Fishers on the HSE/Carroll game, I think this one is going to be electric. If above stated rumors are to be believed, the Legends will be without two of their star players. This levels the playing field for the Raiders. Both team were able to score on nearly everyone they played last year, so we should see the scoreboard light up on Friday. However, I think the Legends will show that they have just as much of a shot at the Victory Bell as Carroll or Snider this year. North Side by 24 I think the real story this week is that the new open schedule in the SAC has shown just how desperate the we were to play some Indy schools. With over half the conference scheduling teams from the loop area, we will set a baseline for the years-old FWA/IND debate. While I have the Fort losing most of these matchups, I believe this week is going to be the most exciting and electric week this city has seen in a while. I would love to see a Fort Wayne/Region/Indy rotation in the coming years, specifically the DAC/MIC/HCC/SAC all scheduling matchups against one another. Football is here!

  12. This summer flew by! Played lots of golf, drank even more beer, accrued many frequent flyer miles--and here we are. Should be a great weekend. Lowell & Crown Point should be a fun game, but who am I kidding? CP, and I could really care less about their ranking, (whatever it is) will most likely maul the Red Devils. Then again, RDP has a pretty good scrimmage against Merrillville last weekend, so you never know. As for my South Newton Rebels, they will be after their third straight winning season, and host Lake Station. Plenty of more great games across the great state of ours, although some feel the need to cross state lines to find opponents (big head scratcher there) Good luck to everyone!!! G

  14. I did not see Merrillville, Valpo, or Snider. I’m basing my opinion on the teams I saw in the south and the final score of the ship. Again this all my opinion but just judging the games based on speed of the game, skills I saw, etc. I think there were several 4A teams capable of winning 5A as well as a few 3A. We had Castle at NA early in the tournament, and I know Castle had been decimated by injury as well as losing their leading rusher early in the game at NA. Hats off to Castle for making it to the SS, but having seen Castle over the years that wasn’t one of their better clubs. Might have been interesting if half their starters weren’t standing in the SL in street clothes.

  15. https://reason.com/2023/08/16/the-government-has-made-college-an-overpriced-scam/ Agreed. College is not for everyone, it never has been. Even though the government primary and secondary education system pushes it ad nauseum on the student populace. And also agree about the college degree requirements that more and more employers are dropping. In the Information Technology realm it is not your college degree that is important but the number of technical certifications you hold. And you don't need a college degree to read some books and take a certification exam.

  21. Ahhh...Goshen vs. the mighty falcons of Fairfield, I forgot to include said game. First...I hope that Goshen turns things turned around and judging by last year, they seem to be going in the right direction (other than numbers). Last year they were in the a lot of their games in the first half and then puttered out in the second. Now...don't get angry...I understand the proximity of the two schools to one another, and possibly some bragging rights between friends / families, but this game should be removed from Goshen's schedule. It does Goshen no good to schedule a school the size of Fairfield...if they win...look at me...we beat a small farm school...if you loose...you lost to a small farm school? Anyway...rant over...Goshen 35 Fairfield 14

  22. Lutheran Speedway Monrovia Triton Central C-O, C-O, C-O-N-C. C-O, C-O, C-O-R-D. R-D, R-D, R-D-I-A. (Scecina wins this easily, but I can't pick against the Cadets)

  23. I can still remember my Commercial Transactions prof in law school saying “Fraud vitiates all.” In other words, if you can prove some type of fraud, you can often avoid otherwise insurmountable obstacles like a statute of limitations. As you might expect, proving fraud is very difficult.

  25. Wow, where to start. Roughly twenty years ago I was asked by Rivals to get with some other posters on their forum to compile a Top 100 for that site after Dallas Jackson was removed from their staff. That started my interest in compiling the poll for discussion and debate among others with similar interests in the national aspect of the game. Dallas Jackson soon established his own site and requested that I post exclusively on his site, which I did. In the following years, I have added other sites, including this one, to my "customer" base. My methodology is simple. I read, watch, and analyze this game on a daily basis from May to January. I am not smart enough to develop nor do I believe in algorithms. I am constantly viewing MaxPreps, rivals and other forums to gather all the information I can on teams throughout the country. I attend as many games as possible throughout the season and watch games both on TV and streaming services. For instance, next weekend I am going to Massillon, Ohio to watch four of the Cleveland area's best teams play four state champions, including Center Grove from Indiana. This does not only give me a chance to gauge those teams, but also a gauge on each state's strength. The following weekend, I will not only attend a game (most likely Warren Central at Carroll) but also watch the national games being broadcast on ESPN as part of their kickoff weekend. With all that of background, plus empirical data from prior seasons, I compile team rankings for every state, yes that includes states like Wyoming, Rhode Island, and other non-power states. From there I compile a Top 100 by looking at game results, player evaluations and the state's strength to compile the list. Hope this helps.

  27. The Biden DOJ is doing everything it can to bury Trump in legal issues the entire campaign season. SF fully believes the former President will be found guilty of at least one or more of the indictments. There is no way (especially in Georgia) that there will be even close to an impartial jury in all (if any) of the jurisdictions, so yeah, he's gonna get convicted. The question is what will SCOTUS do when this gets to them, and yes it will get to them. The establishment wants to ensure no one outside of their bubble EVER thinks they can get back in.

  28. I heard it was closer to 25 kids and some of them starters. Story I hear is many of them have decided to focus on just one sport and most of them are wrestlers which is confusing to me. When Goshen was really good most of the football players were also part of their very strong wrestling program. I know both of those programs are not as successful as they once were. I think highly of coach Wogomon and think he is the right guy to turn things around at Goshen. Hopefully the Redhawks can become competitive again in the NLC as they have the right guy leading.

  29. As much as I want to see our old coach Tom Wogomon succeed, this year is gonna be tough as it seems that 17-18 players walked off the team a week or two ago.
