As someone whose job it is to come up with words to describe what he does on the football field each week, i've run out of superlatives to describe his play. Speed and power. Humble. Hard working. Strong. As an IU grad, I'm very excited to see what Charlie is going to do for the Hoosiers in the next four years. His records: 10,867 yards, 175 touchdowns, 1,054 points - are mind-boggling. When Brett Law set the scoring record 30 years ago, they were such crazy numbers, nobody thought they'd be touched. Seeing him do what he did is just incredible. He's the only RB in state history to rush for 3,000+ yards twice. And one of his teammates, Kyle King, got 21 votes, as well. Charlie's a great kid. Very humble. Just works hard, lets his play do the talking, keeps working, asks questions, wants to get better. He ran for 3,300+ yards last year while learning a new offense and getting in sync with a new line,. I'm very happy for him.2 points

Noblesville has not had a football season where they have finished above .500 in the last 15 years. I like the Sharpe hiring because he is willing to change things up (whether he is successful or not will not be known until next year). I think that it is ridiculous to criticize what Sharpe will bring to Noblesville, when nothing has worked in a long time. Hopefully he can finally establish a football culture there without politics getting in the way.2 points

Just to remind folks Kevin Wright at Warren lost 5 total games, 1st year regional to BD, then rattle off 3 straight State championships. Under Center, triple option flexbone with DUDES2 points

Which begs the question: Isn't the goal to win games for the school and not turn out D1 athletes??2 points

I will be totally honest with one thing that drives me nuts sometimes with teams I watch. 4th and goal at the 1 yard line (lets say a tournament game) down by 4 points. Offense trots out in Shotgun formation.2 points

I don’t think Pelosi wanted to impeach to begin with. This needed to be investigated, but that could have been done without impeachment. I haven’t ever supported Trump’s impeachment, it creates more problems than it solves.2 points
-
Say what you want about Pelosi, she's a shrewd politician. The press seems to have jumped on this withholding the articles angle. It's interesting to watch this play out. On the bright side of things it's refreshing to see the D's suddenly embrace the Constitution. I take it this means and end to any gun control legislation?2 points

Coach Sharpe was pretty darn successful in a pretty physical conference (DAC). I certainly wouldn't call the DAC the "rural leagues". The players here in LP loved him and the community did too. Give the guy a chance. Best of luck to Coach Sharpe. You have a bunch of fans in LaPorte who will be cheering you on from up north.2 points

Steele is MUCH better than Spegal. What Steele has done in the MIC should be weighted much higher than what Spegal has done in the HHC, and that competition will transfer well to college. I think being hurt his Junior year actually HELPS Steele because who knows how beat up he would be after the CG state run. What Spegal has done at New Pal is great, but Steele is the better RB. I think D1 teams are hesitant to offer Steele because his workload has been crazy at CG, and they are worried about his long-term health.2 points

Former Tippy Valley football coach lost his battle with cancer today. My thoughts go out to his son Ben and the rest of his family and the Tippecanoe Valley school corp.1 point

Your whacky opinion but divorced from reality. Meuller was a republican hired by republican. Pretty much white washed all the collusion between Trump and daddy Putin.1 point

From what I understand, the rules in the senate are up to the senate, the constitution is largely silent. As we saw in the house the party in power can basically make it up as they go. My real fear here is dangerous precedents are being set. Both parties need to realize that sooner or later the other idiots will be in charge.1 point

It was @Rudy. One heckuva job here making this happen 2019 PCS Rankings by Sectional - FINAL2019 PCS Rankings - FINAL.pdf1 point
-
Didn’t @Rudy or someone compile a table using the methodology that the FBS uses? I recall seeing something like that here. May have been someone else but regardless the sheet I seen would pretty much eliminate any “What if” to this and would just bring up a debate of who would represent each class1 point
-
Yes they do. I believe Coach L although retired and no longer HC is an assistant coach on the team. It is fun to watch their O-line. They are all perfectly syncronized and run like a well oiled machine.1 point

There are no good reasons to remove opportunities from student-athletes for the sake of a dumb talking point. Only 12 can be on a basketball team. Football has 11 on the field at any given time.1 point

IMO Steele has the higher ceiling of the two for college football. Charlie will go down as the better HS back out of the two, Steele will have the better college career. They're different types of RBs. Steele is overall more athletic and has a frame to work with. Charlie was stronger than every player on the field and it showed. When playing 18-23 year old boys at the next level they're all that strong.1 point
-
It will be even better as it goes along the youth leagues will hammer home the fundamentals and plenty of reps. By the time they get to the H.S. they will be able to run the plays in their sleep! Coach Moore has done the same in the CG Bantam league with the Classic Wing T.1 point

I was going to reply with this exact statement, but @Coach Nowlin beat me to it. There were plenty of people that were hesistant with Coach Curtis coming due to his offense, but he has made such a strong effort to get buy in from the entire community and has all levels (from the PeeWee leagues on up) bought in and running their style of offense. If you get the right guy leading, it doesn't matter one bit if a system is deemed "unconventional". Get the buy in, then back it up with results, people will be all about it.1 point
-
Couldn't you spin that to also mean running an offense that best fits your personnel gives you the best chance to win? You aren't going to convince me that a school with 3,000 kids can't run some type of modern offense. I mean are you telling me that a suburban high school in Indianapolis with 3,000 kids doesn't have the ability to run something other than a gimmick offense?1 point
-
I remember very well, was on that team. We ran a lot of power formations that year (my junior year) and my senior year we ended up running a bunch of shotgun and Cathedral has ever since. And it's paid dividends. You're seeing more and more D1 caliber QBs coming to Cathedral because Cathedral finally opened up their playbook.1 point
-
Ok I'm not saying there aren't exceptions to the rule, simply said it may be a turn off to certain players. If you're an 8th grader living in Noblesville and aspire to play QB at the next level and you have schools like Cathedral and Guerin running a spread offense it may appeal more to you. Being in the largest metropolitan area in the state, you have multiple options as to where attend high school.1 point
-
No. Never said that. Agree, although it's tough to gauge how good a QB is handing off 50 times a game. Non-sequitur. If I'm a 6'3 200 lb kid with a lively arm living in Noblesville and my local high school runs a misdirection, power offense and I have aspirations of playing at the next level, how does that help me get there? Why wouldn't I go play at Guerin, Cathedral, Chatard, or take advantage of open enrollment and go play at a neighboring county school who throws the ball all around the field?1 point
-
Get what you're saying, but Noblesville is a massive school district. If Fishers and HSE can run the spread, why can't Noblesville? I just think an unconventional offense like that MAY be a turn off to some as it doesn't really translate to the next level.1 point

The addition of Jasper and Lincoln make the SIAC no different that is has been. I am only talking football. Dont care about the other sports. Not sure why people are thinking these additions put our conferance as one of the best.1 point

1. A lack of open field speed yet fast enough to out run Ben Davis, Warren Central, Cathedral, plus other MIC defenders for long TD runs on several occasions. One heck of a shifty back too. 2. Of course he wouldn't be listed in the top 15 right now he only played 3 games his Junior season. His body of work as a Freshman and Sophomore was pretty darn good. I think you will see him jump into the top 10 for Indiana Class of 2021 if he stays healthy. 3. Difficult to compare Spegal's Junior year to Steele's Junior year because Steele only played 3 games. If you want to compare their Freshman and Soph years we can Spegal Freshman 356 carries 1,958 yds 17 TD's Spegal Sophomore 327 carries 2,385 yds 33 TD's Steele Freshman 272 carries 1,703 yds 20 TD Steele Sophomore 367 carries 2,270 yds 29 TD Compare away1 point

Same thing in South Bend with basketball ruling the roost. The interest for football is not as intense.1 point

All three of those teams have a game next year with Mt. Vernon. If Mt Carmel joined and was in the small division this is the difference in drive time if they went to Mt. Carmel instead of Mt Vernon. Tell City 6 more minutes. South Spencer 19 more minutes. Forest Park 6 less minutes.1 point

It's a good topic. I just think there is a gap between the SAC and the next best. DT brought up some interesting points though. One being Snider's reign as the SAC's premier team. The main contender has actually been a contender for decades..............Dwenger. Jason Garrett is a great coach and has been stellar in his first two seasons. Of course having a guy like Casey Kolkman on his staff helps. We will know over the next few years whether or not this conference belongs to the Panthers or Saints. Snider will always be near the top with Russ Bush (48 years with the program), Russ Isaacs (43), and Kurt Tippmann (28) leading the charge. There will be a lot of talk in 2020 about Carroll and Homestead. Carroll looks to have enough pieces of the puzzle coming back to dethrone Homestead and take the bell (victory bell that goes so conference champ). The Chargers also have a pretty good coach. Doug Dinan was an assistant under Russ Isaacs for 17 years at Snider. He knows what he's doing. Homestead returns QB Luke Goode. That in itself makes the Spartans a contender. Four great teams at the top. Then you have Concordia, Luers, and maybe Northrop (still waiting for them to breakout) on the outside looking in. Should be a fun 2020.1 point

Irishman referenced the first play of the game at the 8:35 mark of the video. Here is 2 and 7. Second play of the game. I certainly don’t see a plane drawn from the waist of the center through the other linemen. You can call it nitpicky, but if I think a team is pushing the limit to gain a competitive advantage, it would frustrate me. I would rather you say ‘We’re not going to call it because they do it every play’ than try to tell me I’m not seeing what I am seeing.1 point

I really didn't think there was a comparison between the two conferences. So I went to Sagarin to see if I was wrong. I have much respect for Evansville area football, but I don't think they challenge for the SAC for third. Homestead over Memorial by 11 Dwenger over Central by 18 Carroll over Mater Dei by 15 Snider over Castle by 16 Concordia over Jasper by 6 FW North over Evansville North by 2 Northrop over Reitz by 5 Luers over Vincennes by 4 Wayne over Bosse by 12 FW South over Harrison by 211 point

Neither program was particularly strong in the years before the consolidation and Anderson's population has been in steady decline for years, but basketball rules the roost in Anderson. And while they were both pretty strong basketball schools, football took a back seat (although Highland had a couple of decent teams in its last years). However, a lot of Highland athletes went to Pendleton Heights and Yorktown rather than Anderson.1 point

I have been told by a good source at the St. Bernice Tavern that Parke Heritage will be annexing Riverton Parke. Rockville taking over Turkey Run wasn't enough to put them over the top so they are looking to add another school.1 point
