If Chatard is trying to recruit kids from Team Indiana (whatever that scam is....outside of probably just another gimmick to separate gullible parents from their money for their “D1 prospect” kids) then they’ve obviously done a poor job since 78 kids out of an 80 man Chatard Varsity/JV roster are CYO kids. One would think that with a State leading 15 State Championships, Chatard would have more than 2 kids (one of those being a move-in from out of town) out of an 80 man roster that wasn’t a CYO kid. As to Ritter, unfortunately any “wounds” to the Ritter program caused by kids not choosing to play football there were entirely self-inflicted if I am to believe everything my Ritter friends have been telling me for the last several years. Kids (and parents) weren’t being wooed away - they were fleeing. Give us some time........

I remember reading that East Africans dominate distance running because most are born at a higher altitude and are descended from peoples who have lived at higher altitudes for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. This gives them naturally higher levels of oxygen in their blood. More oxygen in blood= better performance in distance events (think of blood doping in cycling).

Buzea hire is the closest thing to a "brand name" hire. Good coach with some health concerns. I'm not anointing CP as an instant contender in DAC. It's still Merrillville, Valpo and MC ahead of CP. What's the old quote; "It's not about the X's and O's, but the Jimmy's and Joe's." CP does not have the Jimmies and Joe's and they haven't had them in years. They have size not necessarily strength but lack any real skill position athletes. From what I hear, Buzea needs to take over the CP Bulldog and Middle school programs, change i.e. mandate off season weight lifting and find a way to eliminate the "internal booster club/parents" influence on program. I believe all of these can be done over time just not resulting in immediate results.

Im not buying into the logic that CP will soon dominate Merrillville regularly (that has never happened) but the fact that coach Buzea would take this job indicates that he feels he is in good health. I'm glad he's okay.
