We have only scratched the surface of this issue. There is little understanding by the public at large about what drives transgender issues. The idea that someone, especially a child, would go through all this entails just so at some point he/she can win a sectional championship in track is ridiculous. The transgender movement is going to spark a lot of debate and controversy in our society. Understanding will lag behind — it always does. But this is so much more than a sports issue. That’s just the tip of the iceberg.

That’s what the Crusaders said. And during the Inquisition. There’s never any shortage of those willing to wrap intolerance in the cloak of religion.

Is it beyond people to stick to the point or is it just too much fun to resist acting like the idiots in DC? A question was submitted and it seems to break down as follows: 1. Is it fair to biological women to allow transgenders into their sports? if it’s fair, then - discussion over. 2. If it’s not fair, then what do we do? (a) Set up separate transgender sports or (b) Do nothing and just say there are no sports available for transgenders To be clear, I don’t care what God apparently tells you neither do I care what bromide you think you are supposed to say because you identify as Left or Right (at least the religious folks to their credit think they are getting it from God vs. some dumb@ss politician or celebrity). Damn few here are even attempting to discuss what we should do....if anything. Whether I think it’s BS or not, the situation is here....it exists. How do we deal with it?

Speaking of irony and (in)tolerance, how ironic will it be if one of the "patriots" on this post ends up having a transgender child or grandchild? This thread is an embarrassment and it's my sincere hope one of the moderators removes it soon.

We are missing the point of this argument again. This is not about God right now it is about if it is fair for Transgender athletes and if this is detrimental to women's sports. If you want to argument the more and biblical aspect then take that to OOB but come on this is crazy that we can't keep this on topic.

Having pockets of basketball tradition or small schools that only play basketball hardly makes this a basketball state. The perception of those outside the state may have shifted by now if it wasn't for the movie "Hoosiers". The fading memories of Knight and Keady mostly just live on in the minds of die hard old timers. Also, the memory of packed little Gyms, in any town with more than 500 people as the main social even in the community, is long gone. Such is progress.

This was SHOT DOWN big time at the AD meeting in SAC. Absolutely no interest by 3-4 schools in opening up the conference, or splitting into divisions.... Also, I can't remember who I got into it with about the SAC changing their FB schedules...They have indeed now shuffled the SAC schedules for 2023 and beyond. A completely different set-up, with yearly rotating dates/match-ups.

This certainly used to be the trend, but it may, potentially, be in flux if recent standings hold as a trend. Harrison has been the NCC champ in track twice: 2018 and 2019 ... although the state finals were not held last year. Jeff also has two titles in track: 1972 and 2002. Cross country has Harrison with two: 2018 and 2019 and Jeff with six ... its most recent two coming in 2014 and 2015. In looking at state finals, 2018 was the last set as 19-20 was cancelled because of COVID. Results there are interesting: For regionals: 100-meter dash finals: Harrison 5th, Jeff 6th 110-meter hurdles final - Harrison 3rd and 8th, Jeff no place 200-meter dash - Jeff 3rd, Harrison no place 1600-meter run - Harrison 2nd and 3rd, Jeff no place 4x100-meter relay - Harrison 2nd, Jeff 6th 400-meter dash - Harrison 10th, Jeff no place 300-meter hurdles - Harrison 10th, Jeff no place 800-meter run - Harrison 1st, Jeff no place 3200-meter run - Harrison 3rd and 8th, Jeff no place 4x400 relay - Harrison 6th, Jeff no place I didn't pull state yet ... running off to work. Will take a look, but the times they may be a changin'.

If only someone on this thread had mentioned previously how silly it seemed that they had games scheduled to start the last week of February... glad to see the HCAC made the change. At this point, I don't see why they don't just push everything back another week and start games March 13th and have the final games on April 24th, but maybe they want to keep that extra week as a possibility for potential COVID postponements. Either way - happy for the kids to get the chance to play a season!

You are alone on that my friend........ February football in Indiana is gonna be brutal. I know Ft. Wayne right now is covered in snow and its brutally cold all over. Not exactly condusive to prime practice situations. As a fan, I am prepared for the elements, but i'm guessing attendance will be lower and I'll miss the atmosphere of a beautiful fall day. I know for a fact St. Francis has practiced outside in the elements quite a bit. I think through this brutal cold stretch they are practicing in a dome somewhere in Ft. Wayne.

I don't think that is what he meant. What he is saying, and I agree, is that this particular part of this website is reserved for high school football topics. While this particular topic creates a lot of good discussion, it is better suited to be had in Muda's playground, aka the OOB 2.0

There are some schools playing boys volleyball up in the region, small schools that don't have football. And I know there is boys club volleyball in the Muncie area.

In some cases, I think “being transgender” is simply a declaration. No surgery, no hormone treatment, etc.....at least not initially. That, obviously, is a problem for women’s athletics. Even following surgery, treatment, etc., it’s still problematic for women’s sports. I recognize that this whole thing is extremely complicated (I’ve been reading speculative fiction about this for decades and folks can’t begin to imagine just where this takes us societally) and that we have only seen the tip of the iceberg as to how it relates to the greater society BUT an easy call has to be that women’s sports are limited to biological women. If it’s not, then we may just as well get rid of women’s sports in their entirety because it becomes meaningless. With that, it appears that the best alternative is that we we add Transexual categories of sports all to themselves. If some women or trans men want to play “up” in Men’s sports that’s fine by me. But the reverse is an easy “No”. Honestly, I don’t care what people do with their bodies, who they sleep with, who or what they love so long as they don’t look at me to pay for it. Otherwise, people can do whatever the Hell they want regardless of my personal belief or opinion. To be clear, lest someone mistake this as coming from some “kumbaya” place of great tolerance or love on my part, it’s not. It’s cold-hearted, curmudgeonly ambivalence.

So in other words we this topic needs to be locked and ended... Got It.

I was trying to count the number of world religion followers I've had sitting in my classes. I can think of at least 6, possibly 8. I wonder which of them is wrong. It has only been recently when any of them (their parents) have given me a paper on what I have to be careful on what to say in class.

Key word is Backlash, in the 1970's there could be backlash. As we see today if my comments were to be screenshot and posted on social media out of context I could very well lose my job for being transphobic, or at the very least I would be "Cancelled" and for what? Being an advocate for women's sports? That's why I said it is a slippery slope. I would love some data on this, but from the eye test it feels as if some women's sports are still male dominated (coaches and officials) the transgender argument makes some in those sports question the point of girls even playing anymore. I say this having sat in our a girls basketball meeting one in which almost the entire staff is female.

I agree with that statement completely, but where I have concern is the idea of women's equality in sports. For the longest time sports has been dominated by men and even if they are transitioning those who are transgender still hold a physical advantage over women. This is bigger then a sports, but in terms of on this thread and what we are posting about the question is how this girls sports will deal with Transgender athletes.

When God made man and woman, he made them different and he did not say if you don't like who you are you can choose which sex you wish to be. This entire transgender issue is not only immoral it is sickening. Those little boys who truly feel the need to compete as females are shallow and selfish and they should not be allowed to compete against girls, PERIOD! It's a shame that we have allowed our liberal government to rule who should be allowed to participate in which sports or your funds will be cut off. It's kind of hard to compare the NAIA to the FBS. Mainly because there is no Alabama. No one has been that dominant. There is a three way tie among the top NAIA programs over the last decade.............St. Francis, Marian, and Morningside. Go back two decades and it's Carroll, St. Francis, and Sioux Falls........in that order. Correction...............I think you have to give Marian the nod for top team of the decade.

I admit to being a “die hard old timer” but the days when Bobby Knight might show up at an Indiana HS gym and the surrounding communities talk about it for generations are long, long gone......and never coming back. The magic is gone. I hate to break the, now decades old, news but HS basketball and IU basketball are empty husks of what they were. The last time I went to a HS game those in attendance were parents, a handful of students and a bunch of football players who had earlier been lifting down in the weight room.

That explains what happened to Munster. I'm glad they're good at something because it isn't football. Times change because that wasn't the case back in the day.

I would love to see all HNAC teams submit to a pool. Only sideline no end zone. I’d also like to see schools using a competent camera person and camera. These tablet uploads we get are terrible.
