This is a topic often not considered when schools are looking for potential opponents. It's probably THE most important thing that should be considered. If a school still has paper coke/Pepsi cups for soft drinks with real carbonation happening behind the counter. That school gets a +5 on the concessions list. You can usually tell a lot about the quality of opponents by how good food is at the concessions. If they have burnt popcorn or cold hot dogs and no greasy hamburgers or brauts like a college campus don't consider them. US parents like to eat a lot so quit making me stop at fast food on my way to the games and let me support the FFA club by buying a 1/2lbs heart attack burger they made on a grill donated by the local bar. Allow me to buy the 1gal slushy from the drama department. My point is concessions have gotten worse and I'm tired of cold popcorn terrible tasting better for your health hot dogs, and soft drinks that taste like they sat in an athletic department cooler since last year. I want greasy unhealthy foods with softdrinks in a paper cup and real carbonation. So what schools have the best concession stands?

And it's filled. Lewis Cass is hosting Delta tonight. Not sure if it was someone who saw it on GID or social or some digging around on the phones, but it's a last-minute game for both teams.

I Attended the White Sox game Wednesday night. They always honor a member of the military in the middle of the 2nd inning. Wednesday they honored a military family and the soldier came in and surprised his family after returning from a 10 month tour of duty in Kuwait. Found out that Sgt. Lacosse and his family is from West Lafayette. It’s always very touching and emotional when they do thus at the game.

I ate food from the Parke Heritage concession stand and it made me crap in my pants by the end of the 1st quarter. When the Wolfs scored the first touchdown of the game, the fireworks display overstimulated me and the poop came cascading out like hot buttered lard through a sieve. It was a steamy August evening, perfect weather for wearing shorts. There were a couple of kids playing under the bleachers beneath me. The sounds of their confused and disgusted screams will haunt me for all of my earthly days.

I would say a state championship out weighs a week 9 victory or loss.. actually I’m positive.

Really enjoy waterfowl hunting down on the river area south of Lyons, Goose Pond area, and on some property just west of Dugger with a group of amazing friends. Really enjoy the Linton community and the football tradition. Have a great season fellas!!

I haven't seen this at a high school football concession stand in probably 20 years. Must be going to the wrong schools. Anybody have a list of what schools still do this? Oh, and just for Coke. Pepsi is an abomination. State Law.

They still wouldn’t have lost tonight with him coaching.. I would have thought the coaching staff would have gained some knowledge over the 19 years he was the HC.

4A/5A/6A are a wrap…zero intrigue left for this guy as it relates to those three classes. CG/Cathedral will be fun. At this point, just hoping both teams make it to week 10 healthy. First team to 14 wins?

You would think after 2 beatings the prior weeks it would have been a wake up call. I’m not sure how many 3rd and longs Seymour connected on tonight but it was an ungodly amount. East has zero big play ability.

Seymour ends Columbus East 99 game conference win streak (107 if you count the playoffs). Columbus East is so unprepared for games it’s almost comical. What Gaddis built in 19 years has been crumbled in 3 games post Gaddis era. This team is flat out terrible. Seymour - 28 Columbus East - 24 Final Congrats to Tyson Moore and the Seymour Owls.

Just moved to cincy this fall but been to the Pit multiple times with a college buddy who went to Elder. Skyline is either or love it or hate it, I’m hooked on it but what’s really better is the local ma and pa chili parlors around the city. If you ever get back to Elder, check out Price Hill Chili! The St. X game is one reason why I don’t fully hate online presale, game is at X this year so I am glad to be able to buy online.

I always enjoy watching my baby play, win or lose. All 6'6"/295 lbs of him.

My spouse, who has in-laws living in the Cincinnati area, raves about this stuff and has to go a Skyline whenever we visit. I don't see the appeal.

Definitely have to go with Linton ribeyes, or if you ever get to Sheridan, you’ll smell the Bud Burgers on the grill from the parking lot. Best high school concession stand I’ve seen period is at Cincinnati Elder, The Pit, they’ve got goetta dogs and hot metts cooking up, and also a LaRosa’s pizza truck parked selling by the slice. Not to mention the coolest high school stadium I’ve ever seen; highly recommend making the drive when one of the Indy Catholics is playing there, or against one of their GCL South rivals (St. X, Moeller, La Salle).

The population of Indianapolis proper has increased modestly at best. Since the 1970 census (post-unigov) vaulted Indy from 26th largest US city to 11th largest, their modest gains in population have not kept pace with other cities. They are now 17th largest. There is a decline in people living in the original city limits, most have flocked to township schools (Washington, Wayne, Warren, Lawrence, Franklin, Perry, Pike, Decatur), and still more have migrated to the donut counties.

I can say the best Hot Dogs that I have had was at Pike high school Indy. That was 7 yrs ago though not sure if it still holds. Rushville has these steak sandwiches that are unbelievably. Have seen visiting coaching staffs send their assistants to get in line at pregame so they could start the game right.

Kinda feel like if Valley has the option to play Paoli on Saturday but forfeits that opportunity, they forfeit that game and the chance of a conference championship. I just can't understand the problem. Games have been delayed and moved to Saturday due to weather. This is just a new type of delay we have to deal with.

Gotta be honest, despite the fact that I am damn proud that my kids had the opportunity to represent the Bishop Chatard Trojans on the field some years back, I have nothing but INCREDIBLE admiration for the Center Grove Trojans after watching this video. WOW.....just WOW!!!!

I might be the only one willing to dive in here. I do have some thoughts. Consistent, strong competition has been absent for too long, while the biggest guns in the state have only gotten more competitive with each other, all the way through their programs. I'm not sure that Penn's offensive transition to a more modern style truly fits the program's demographics, and I think that affects their ability to play the complementary style of football that defined the program for so many years. Even Penn's best quarterbacks, did not, for the most part, light it up through the air except for playing off of the run game, and they were often a significant, effective, component of the run game, even if in a undesigned way. I agree that other schools have caught up, although I disagree somewhat with the characterization of the Penn teams of yore and their size relative to the peer competition. While I played on teams that had a couple of monsters - perhaps three division 1 big guys over my four years - Penn has been a program that has gotten by with more from less in terms of physical development and impressiveness. Penn did often have average to slightly above average sized backs, and that has seemed to change over the years. That said, the team is much less impressive off the hoof relative to the top competition than they already often were in years past. The high school has employed a strength and conditioning coach for at least four years now, if records are accurate, which I imagine is a significantly shorter term than many of the other large programs competing with each other in the Indy metro area. We all know Ben Davis had a dedicated strength coach for decades. Been setting in for many years I'm afraid, and is a logical outcome of much of the success and preordained outcomes of many contests against local competition for decades. Even when the program was humming along there was apathy with regard to much of the schedule. This has been my argument for years, and I maintain that it's especially important at the freshman and junior varsity levels. Penn's freshman and JVs almost never play against the best in their age group because of the size of the local teams requires those players to take varsity reps on Friday nights. Additionally, I think that level of competition in the MIC and HCC encourages innovation and has far reaching effects within those programs. The weekly grind of competition has been a huge de facto advantage for the MIC programs, and I think that became obvious relatively early in the 2000s. Now the HCC is in a similar position. No way around it, the administration blundered in 2002, and if the invitation is still standing - truly - they have continued to blunder to this day. Plenty of evidence exists out there that Penn is comfortable with teams traveling for much of their competition in all sports. I don't know if the source is too reliable or not, but public school review has data going back into the 90s that you could comb through to get an idea. It's not aggregated but it exists. These are just some thoughts, of course.

Sure it does. The deanery schools aren't located in inner-city Indianapolis and the OMG athletes to which you speak of aren't going to those high schools anyway. It's myth. The non-deanery kids that attend Cathedral are being pulled from Hamilton County and Lawrence Twp predominantly, none of which is considered inner-city, and Brebeuf is also pulling from Hamilton County as well as Washington and Pike Twp, also neither of which are defined as inner-city. Try again. I challenge you to attend Roncalli/Chatard this week and report back as to which "OMG inner-city athletes" catch your attention. I think this would be good for you.

To further expand on the penalty options. R may also choose to back up K 15 yards and re-kick. It's also important to note, that if R chooses to enforce the 15 yard penalty from where K caught the ball in flight. They are also awarded a fair catch and may line up in a free kick formation themselves and attempt to kick a field goal off a tee without a rush for 3 points. I've never seen this option used in my 15 + years of officiating, but it does exist in the rule book.
