The west side of Evansville is not some “Friday Night Lights” town come to life with corporate boards investing in the community via bets on the futures of 14 year old kids. Name one player that Mater Dei has recruited. Name a player that came to Mater Dei from one of the city schools in Evansville that plays on this team. You can't do it because it didn't happen. There are people in this world who take shots at others who are successful to make themselves feel better. You appear to be one of those people.

No by that statement mean MD recruits. Come on don’t play that we don’t recruit crap. You’re a 2A school in the middle of 4,5 and 6A schools. Kids leave to go the the better programs. I get that. But don’t say you don’t recruit them. Whether is HS or JR High. And yes there’s schools around our area who do not have football. Shakamak, WRV and Bloomfield. Wouldn’t count Eastern. They have it. Kids don’t leave schools like Eastern, Sullivan or North Daviess to come to LINTON to play football when they already have it.

Back to the topic please.....like previous years, this topic will take on a LOT of pages; so conversations about an opening or other stuff should be taken up in different topics. Welp, NO dog in any of these fights.... But it's obvious that Homestead at Carroll is THE game! Enjoy the passing attack of both teams this Friday, because "Bart Ball" will give a distinctively different offensive scheme at the Sectional Final. This Sectional will provide 3 teams that are so equal, in different terms, it's ridiculous. Just flip a coin, and hope! This is a 2021 Sectional that ANY TEAM can win....

Fastest HS player I have seen live maybe not but would be up there on the list (Terry McLaurin was pretty fast and elusive among a few others). Definitely has all 3 attributes though speed, power, and agility.

I will disagree with others on here. I still think in the long run, Brohm may be the better hire. At the time, I wanted Fleck over everyone else, but his shtick really wears thin with me and I'm glad we aren't rowing boats all over the place. I think Brohm has had to adapt and adjust through his time, but I think he is doing just that. Don't forget the mess this program was in when he arrived. PJ took over a winning program. Brohm took over a dumpster fire that he had to practically rebuild from scratch. As frustrated as we are at this point, we still have a shot at a bowl game and will return a whole lot for next year. The recruiting has been solid all along. Purdue has never been much of a football school outside of a few coaches. If Brohm can consistently have us competing for bowls, that is more than most have done in history. A complete reset of the program at this point would be foolish.

I watched the game early this morning on the WJTS replay. Jasper did not look like the Jasper I have watched several times this season. NV is a darn good team though - good line play, the RB was a handful and D was tough. If we are lucky enough to get past Central and NV beats Reitz, we will be very lucky to get past NV. They look much better than in years' past.

I was there Friday night, and came away impressed with the Raiders.

Mooresville D is very suspect. They give up a lot of points. EC made a few uncharacteristic TOs last year. That coupled with COVID restricted kids really cost them the game. Mooresville QB throws a great ball and he has some weapons. EC kind of reminds me of the Decatur Central team that beat Mooresville. Physical and can run the ball. EC seems to have found a good passing game with #1 catching the ball. EC gets some pressure on the QB and wins a close one.

I have been watching HSFootball for over 40 years! I followed Hobart football through the late 70’s to the late 80’s. In my time I have watched Rod Woodson, Vaughn Dunbar , Tank Adams , Martell France to name a few. After Don Howell left I started going to games that were highlighted as the big games north of Indianapolis. The kid from Merrillville has the quickest 3 step start that I have seen in a long time. Granted I am old , but he is right there with his explosiveness.

Playoff home away from home for the Panthers! 🙂 It's nice that the Berries are willing to host like they are. It's a great venue for these big games!

We generally work at the same pace regardless of how fast the team wants to go. The ball is placed and ready for play with 28-32 seconds on the play clock. Very rarely is a team ready to go when I step away. Some are faster than others after that, but very rarely is the ball snapped above 25 seconds. When most coaches are asking that question they are more worried about having a very slow crew.

I don’t know much about both teams this season, other than one of them will host the sectional championship, if Martinsville beats South Dearborn. But I heard Mooresville D is a little shaky, and EC apparently losing star players

Brother in law from my understanding. it is a tough task…I think the biggest thing for Princeton is probably just getting the kids to buy in for football…Princeton in many ways is like Indiana in terms of athletics….Basketball school. it’s been a few years but I believe when Schenk was the coach there his first year I was at the 7on7 at GS and Princeton did really well for that 7on7 and they had an impressive number of football players…truly an impressive amount more than what I had seen of them at any other time. Idk what Princeton’s numbers have been recently but I think whoever takes over, for them to really succeed, they need to get close to whatever those numbers were…even if the kid is a senior and hasn’t played football in a few years…get them on the team

Eastbrook’s tempo on offense is impressive. I think the reason Tipton was able to have some success against it last year was because they see it every year when they play LCC. Also WL some years when they face them in the crossover. This year Tipton didn’t face WL but they did play LCC twice. I fully expect both Tipton and Eastbrook to take care of business this week setting up the big show down in the Sectional Championship.

One TO was a Hail Mary at the end of the half. Did not really affect the game. Another was on the goal line. Jasper held NV, got the ball in good field position and scored on that short field drive, so that really did not affect them. NV also fumbled on the goal line. So the two TOs in the second half are the ones that mattered. I watched the game on the replay and the TO factor was not as important at the fact that NV just outplayed Jasper. Espcially when they were on offense. Jasper did not tackle well and the NV WRs were running around open all night. "I will say there was a lot of missed holding calls from the refs, but that is still no excuse" When you say that in your post, you are using it as an excuse. Jasper had been giving up big plays to bad teams like VL, Bosse and Harrison all season. NV was very well coached and executed very well. Jasper overlooked them.

Well I went 35-7 on my picks during the regular season. Took the week off last week following the Tigers loss and the fact that they did not play this week (nor will they play this week, thanks IHSAA). Impressed that the Raiders were able to get revenge on NorthWood. About a month ago the Panthers took it to Northridge at home, beating them 42-8, only to lose on Friday night 28-7 in Nappanee. They certainly have a chance to win again this week against a solid Columbia City team. No surprise that Goshen, Wawasee, and Plymouth's seasons are finished. Can't believe I have seen an 0-10 season from the Rockies in my lifetime. If I didn't hate Plymouth so much, I'd almost feel bad for them. Really excited for the Mishawaka vs Concord rematch. Should be a great game and saw that it was picked for the Channel 46 GOTW. Will be interesting to see if the Cavemen can change the outcome with Justin Fisher behind center this time around.

Here works. 9 wins over the next two years combined seems realistic.

It is unbelievably frustrating to watch. Would have never thought in Year 5 Brohm still can’t develop a consistent QB or an O-Line that is worthy of being called a P5 level line. And of course my arch nemesis Row The Boat guy won another one by completely dominating the LOS and running the ball at will. Shame on me for thinking Purdue got the better hire 5 years ago when Minny also hit the market for a coach.

Jasper, unbeaten no more NV completes the upset to win in 28-14

Wrigley Franklin (G/DE) qualified for Regionals in the Discus as a Sophomore. He would have out thrown the MD guys as well. Linton had 4 guys that threw 42'+ in the shot put. I'm a little shocked the Ralph kid doesn't throw... his explosive power seems a natural fit for shot put. Gennicks and Lynn were good hurdlers... both were injured for track sectionals. Both would have had a chance of advancing. Smith, Franklin, Gennicks, and Webb should be big pieces for what looks to be a really good Miner basketball team this Winter. Personally, I love to see multi-sport guys. It is a major accomplishment for these young men who can commit the time to all these sports and still be contributors.

IMHO Indiana High School basketball doesn't need one. With no shot clock you can just hold the ball.

Even if Lapel’s offense is the best one Eastbrook has seen, I don’t think a defense that has given up 200 points this season can stop Eastbrook’s offense. Not to mention, Eastbrook’s defense is probably the best defense that Lapel has seen all season. Go Panthers!!

Not trying to get into this argument but I would assume that any player that was originally outside of the MD network would be in place before high school. Say a 7th grader who doesn't go to school in the MD network but lives in one of the three counties that MD has schools in and has interest in MD. They could get sponsored potentially for the opportunity to attend St. Wendel or one of the other 7 grade schools that feed MD. Or maybe their parents could apply for a voucher to help cover the expense. I don't think MD is looking at other teams roster and going after players, although I did see some really nice invitations and heard a radio ad for an open house. *Edit: Let me clarify those invitations and radio ad were not intended for athletes but any interested student.
