  8. Depending on when T32s oldest child first started TYFL, T32 has probably seen 90% of the kids to play for GS over the last 10-15 years at all levels. Sure might be hard to imagine but if anyone knows how success in the younger levels translates to Friday nights it’s him. Shoot, I ask T32 sometimes how my own brother is doing since I moved away 😂

  9. These discussions always go nowhere because there are no defined terms. It reminds me of when one of my kids did something stupid and I said, "That was a stupid thing to do," and he'd cry to his mother, "Dad just called me stupid." I don't know Congressman Meadows personally, so I have no idea if in his heart he is the reincarnation of Simon Legree, or if he actually is Mr. Kumbaya-can't-we-all-just-get-along?, as his (black) colleague Congressman Lewis suggested. So I can't say if he is a racist. But I can very easily say that using a black woman as a (literal) stage prop for a "I can't be racist -- I have black friends!" by-proxy defense of the President was one of the most ludicrously clueless racists acts I've seen in awhile. It reminded me of Trump and his, "See, I love Mexicans! I am eating a taco salad!" moment of a few years ago. On the other hand, I feel very comfortable saying, even without knowing him personally, that Louis Farrakhan is a racist. He has repeatedly expressed belief in pseudo-religious notions that white people, especially Jewish white people, are half-human, half-animal beings who are racially inferior to Africans. But I'd agree with Gonzo that, in the USA, neither Farrakhan nor any other black person has the power to "inflict" racism on white people, so it is sort of a meaningless, "tree falling in the woods with no one around" debate as to whether there can be "black racism" in this country.

  10. While AOC was no fan of Amazon, it was the state senators and other local pols that demanded Amazon be a good corporate citizen which caused Amazon to take their ball elsewhere and shakedown another community for billions. NYC will be fine. The city creates jobs like no other market in the US. The former Greenpeace leader now is shill for the logging industry. He makes his bread denying climate change and badmouthing any green energy initiatives, using his long forgotten ties to Greenpeace as a calling card. His views on who is raping the environment the fastest might be germane but as for AOC....not so much. His Trumpian name calling should have let everyone know he had nothing of substance. People of no substance usually revert to name calling.

  12. Don't have a dog in this fight, but it sure does make an interesting thread. As we are trained to say in the financial business, past results are not an indicator of future success. Would that every school had the enthusiastic community support that GS enjoys.

  13. T32 That’s a skill that could earn you a very lucrative salary. I would bet Castle fans feel they should win state championship after championship based on feeder team records.

  15. Correct, we don't measure our success on how many sectionals Gibson 'Southern hasn't won the past few years.

  16. Not new. Just gets old listening to the chest thumping sometimes. Especially when Gibson Southern will field a team of kids with 0 sectional championships in 2019. Same as my kids.

  18. Well, you can choose to believe or not believe the particular guy in Utah, but assuming he is telling the truth, this law would have stopped the transfer. And, no, this law is not designed to stop "strawman" transactions. A strawman transaction is one in which the person buying the weapon does so for the specific purpose of reselling it to someone else, and KNOWS or has reason to know that the person he is re-selling to cannot legally buy or possess the firearm (which is why the person had the buyer get the gun for him/her in the first place.) Strawmen purchasers face prosecution under various existing laws -- usually the federal law that requires them to affirm in the background check docs that they are buying the weapon for themselves, or the laws that preclude any seller (even in a private transaction) from knowingly selling to someone who is a prohibited possessor. The new law is focused on the situation of the occasional seller at the gun show who is dealing with strangers, or a person who sells (or loans) firearms to a friend or family member. While it would be nice for all of them to have your innate spidey sense to spot who they can trust, and who are the undisclosed felons or mentally ill folks, we mere mortals have to rely on a background check system to actually verify that sort of thing with folks who are strangers, or merely "acquaintance-level" friends or family, to us.

  27. I agree, kids are basically just pushing on each other at this age. Injuries tend to be contusions on the arms or legs and there is no virtually no dangerous head to head contact. I'm all for safety, but this is purely cosmetic.

  29. Well, if you buy from an FFL, they lose their license if they transfer ownership without a NICS check. Contrary to popular belief, you can't just order guns online and have them shipped to your door, they have to go to an FFL, who takes possession of them, and performs a NICS check before transferring ownership to you. Also contrary to popular belief, you can't just drive over from Illinois and buy a bunch of guns and take them back to Chicago to kill people. Illinois residents can not purchase firearms from an Indiana FFL. What this bill addresses is the so called gun show loop hole. You see my sweet Wilson Combat Beretta FS92G and you say wow IO, I have to have that gun. And we agree to a price, you hand me cash, and I hand you the gun. This bill would require us to go to an FFL and you would have to have a NICS check before taking ownership of the gun. My point being, if this were to become law, not being interested having a felony charge on my record, I would follow the law, and you're going to have to pay an extra 25-50 bucks for whatever the FFL charges for the NICS check, i.e., more hoops for law abiding citizens to jump thru to remain law abiding citizens. In retrospect, name one shooting that this bill would have prevented? It doesn't stop Sandy Hook, it doesn't stop Pulse Nightclub, it doesn't stop Parkland, it doesn't stop Sutherland Springs, it doesn't stop Aurora, CO or IL.... It's feel good legislation, at least we did "something". I feel better, don't you?

  31. https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-suggests-cohen-hearing-contributed-failure-north-korea-015206778.html FTA: U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that the Democrats' decision to interview his longtime fixer, lawyer Michael Cohen, on the same day as a meeting with Kim Jong Un may have led to the North Korea summit ending with no deal. Translation: Trump walking away apparently didn't poll as high as he thought the explanation would, Kim's story doesn't mess with Trump's, and for the first time in history the world seems to be weighing whether or not to believe a North Korean dictator or a US president. Time to blame anyone else but himself.

  32. For some reason, Alpha is less scary with the mask on than she is with it off. I am not really sure what to make of Beta though; he seems to be not so bright. Another slow episode to some extent, great finish though. It kind of looks like this whisper group will be history by the end of the season. They lost a LOT of people at the end.

  33. The ONLY way Hillary runs is if the Mueller investigation drops some bombshell that shows that Trump literally stole the election from her, through colluding with the Russians to hack voting machines in Wisconsin and Michigan and Pennsylvania. I rate that to be as likely to occur as Swordfish quitting his job to volunteer for Greenpeace to fight climate change.

  40. West Lafayette, Columbus Hartley, Toledo Whitmer, Coldwater OH, Chatard? It won't be hard to find an opponent that will "better" them. No doubt Snider and Dwenger are on a collision course this year................probably twice. 5a will have it's hands full with the winner of this game. Both programs looking good going into this season.. Agree, 100% Wouldn't hurt the feelings of most fans affiliated with Snider. In fact, it would probably increase attendance. If Snider played Penn.................. only Dwenger, Carroll, or Homestead would match the attendance that the Kingsman would bring. Maybe Luers if they were having an "up" year. More Snider fans will travel to Penn than attend a game against South Side. More interesting matchups will bring higher attendance. South fans will probably show up to see their team be competitive against Belmont versus coming out to watch them get squashed by Snider or Dwenger. Let's face it, attendance has been DEAD in recent seasons. It's time to mix things up and try something different.
