  1. Just think of what HS football was like 100 years ago. You see a lot of small colleges on the schedules in the early 1900s. Think about WL playing Wabash back in the day. I know Wabash shows up on the Sheridan schedule a few times. Sheridan celebrates their 100th Homecoming tomorrow night. The Blackhawks were reportedly the first school in Indiana to celebrate homecoming. We could probably ask Coach Wright what the festivities were like 😂

  4. 100 years of Football is outstanding. Monrovia is celebrating 50 years of Football this year. So awesome to see Indiana Football and where it has been, where it is, and where it is going. No matter who you root for, you cant go wrong at any game on an Indiana Friday Night.

  8. Now you listen here Mr. Ballhawk, you can keep your love bugs to yourself!!! One of my sorority sisters caught a bad case of love bugs in college. We had to sanitize everything in our sorority house!! It was super icky!!! 🤮 Also, I'm sure @royalf00tball is just as MILF-tastic as me!! 🔥🔥 Us women run the show around these parts!! 💪 💪 There is a reason why my sons' friends do not want to leave our house even after he goes to bed!! I have to run them all off!! 🤣 🤣 Now for my picks for the week. I am basing my picks heavily on what my son and his friends have told me at our house this week. Fountain Central will beat Attica because Rambler Dan just doesn't have very many football players anymore! 🐴 🐎 🍆 The MIGHTY Riverton Parke Panthers will beat North Vermillion because the Falcons are not that good this year! 😻 They have lost 2 games out of 4 already and the Panthers won the game last year between these two! 😻 Seeger will beat Parke Heritage but it will be a closer game than what people are expecting! 🇺🇸 South Vermillion will beat Covington because the Tigers have too much talent to lose! 🐯 Sadly, I think this is the last week for our pool to be open!! 🥶Zimas all around for the last pool weekend!!!! 😪 At least we still have the hot tub and sauna!!! 😅

  10. Listen hot moms like me are not impressed by Zimas and inflatable pools, but that's just what we get in this part of the state. Beggars can't be choosers. It's either good WRC football or high class stable pools. We can't have both.

  12. WL lore says the undefeated 42 team.. scored on once.. coached by Malcomb Mackey ast coach Gorden Straley..was National Champs. As members of that team forming the Meridian Athlectic Club, were said to have defeated the National Champ Junior Bears at Soldier Field... at least it's how I heard the story.. 😁

  14. Not sure why I get brought into all this - but, here it goes: I don't know much about GS football history - having not really looked much at it. I feel very good about where we (SR) stand as a program and what we've accomplished. I think I read somewhere that over the past 20 years, we've brought home 10 sectional championships (?) - and for anyone that has walked through our hallways - they know we are fighting some challenges that most public schools do- but we would be no where close to the "effective enrollment" that Gibson has. (Titan32 term there) As one former Coach put it to me one time "Man...you might be listed as 3A, but you are really playing with 1A numbers" ...It is what it is - we do the best we can. As far as tonight's game goes - Anyone worth their salt and that has watched any of the football the Titans have played this year will tell you - this years team is GOOOOD. Don't let the 2-2 record fool you. SR will need to play dang close to perfect to have a shot at keeping it competitive. Much respect for the GS football program and the way they have built up their program (well...outside of the 2021 season, but we won't go there again lol) . Always look forward to playing them as they will expose any weaknesses that need to be addressed, and they play the game the right way.

  18. Want to give a shoutout to the game tomorrow night at Gordon Straley Field in West Lafayette. It will be a special night not only because the Red Devils will be playing one of their most respected rivals in the Rensselaer Bombers, and not just because it will be homecoming, but more importantly they will be celebrating 100 years of playing football at West Lafayette High School. There will be many alumni players, coaches and others there to celebrate a storied history. Through 2020, West Lafayette HS had the fourth most wins of any school in the State. They have numerous other accomplishments that are listed in the IFCA record book as well. I hope to take some pictures of some of the festivities associated with this special night and post them on this thread.

  19. Back from obscurity. A few good games tonight: Frontier Vs. Irvington Prep Academy--are they Falcons so hard up for a win they had to schedule this one? 33-6 North Newton Vs. West Central--will the winless Spartans tally a W this season? Not tonight, 47-6 North White Vs. Wes-Del--NW a decent team, but why the long bus ride for the visitor? 41-12 South Newton Vs. Tri-County--my Rebels have come back from near contraction, by always a good game with the Cavs, 38-20.

  27. I'm following two X (twitter) accounts which are giving updates on the game, but the problem with that is you don't get a feel for the flow of the game. All I got was scoring updates with basically who was involved on the play. Frustrating. WVNI also stayed in town and covered the North game with WGCL. The H-T high school beat writer didn't even want to go to Terre Haute and he covered the Eastern Greene/Clarksville game.

  35. It feels like a down year for a lot of teams across the state. I've been paying attention to a lot of teams in the northern part of the state for 2A. Feels more wide open than it ever has. Other than Chatard in 3A, 1A and 3A feel kind of feel the same way. Could make for a great first couple of rounds of sectionals to start the playoffs. Hard to believe we're already on the back half of the regular season after this week. The years keep going by faster and faster.

  39. I'm not one to normally argue... especially behind a screen online because that is pointless... BUT "playing up" for pre-season scrimmages and playing teams like West Vigo and Sullivan the first two weeks of the season is not what most would consider "playing up" when the 'Cats can manhandle almost the rest of the conference. Just a thought.... but I'm also JUST a helpless princess who thinks visors are classy with minimal football knowledge... so take that however you want.

  44. I think that depends on how old the bowling alley floor is. New bowling alley floors are synthetic laminate instead of the old maple flooring used in the past. I believe some studies need to be done on injuries on laminate compared to maple. All that starting, stopping and foot planting can take it's toll on the knees and ankles.

  47. I was trying to keep it simple for you. As for how the Southridge coach has done vs the Gibson Southern coach its not like they are working with the same resources. going by the last enrollment numbers used Gibson Southern has 184 more students than Southridge. Southridge had 517 students so an extra 184 is a lot to overcome.

  49. Bob Clayton (320-74) He could take a normal, average athlete kid and squeeze every ounce out of him. Back in those days, the lineman weighed a max of 170-180 lbs and would shred kids 100 lbs heavier--he formed drive in those kids. But, things were different then, he had some coaching techniques that you couldn't get away with in today's world. Somewhat unorthodox. 🙂
