To go along with the recruiting talk, I guess GS is recruiting in the playoffs...that Deyoung kid is a good late season pick up. I mean, he is good enough to sit Delong on the bench.3 points

May be an unpopular opinion - but I for one am fine with the sectional classifications. I think it is beyond awesome this game is taking place as a semi-state match-up rather than a first or second round sectional game.2 points

Another week - and more championships represented by the "best small school conference in the STATE!" I know things are cyclical in nature, but proud to have 3 PAC teams represented in the upcoming semi-states. A job well done by the Titans, Patriots, and Vikings. Hopefully the IHSAA will continue to spread out these teams so we don't all devour each other in the same sectionals. Best of luck on your preparations this week. The Jungle will be rocking on Friday.2 points

I wish we would have got ahold of Deyoung sooner….what if he had older brothers…could have had a decade of incredible RB/DB/WR play lol2 points

If Harbaugh didn't know what his "assistant" was up to, then he has just lost control of his team. If Harbaugh did know what his "assistant" was up to then he's a cheater. I don't honestly know how he couldn't know about the situation. I don't believe things like that happen without the head coach giving his approval.1 point

@MuleDriver I watched the archived Decatur Central/Whiteland regional championship game yesterday. Not having seen either team play this season until yesterday, I was surprised to see both teams having their QB under center for much of the game that I watched, and especially in the first half. I watched just the first three quarters since DC had a big lead going into the 4th and I didn't see the need to watch anymore of it. DC stayed under center in their opening possession of the game, and did nothing but hand the ball off to one of their RB either right into the gut of the line or off both tackle spots and they picked up one big gain after another and they scored their first TD without putting the ball in the air (if my memory is correct.) They passed the ball just two times (again my memory) up until late in the first half when they went to the shotgun down inside the Whiteland red zone. In the first qtr, Whiteland was under center and had some nice runs, and scored on a long TD run when their RB ran right up the middle and broke the line of scrimmage and had clear sailing for the TD which would be their only score of the game. The Warriors did have occasional nice runs during the game but it was between the 30-yard lines and they never really threatened to score again. Nothing in-depth there on my part, but it was what I saw on the surface in the game. Here's the link to the archived game if you want to take a look: Decatur Central (ihsaatv.org)1 point

I was at that game with my 10 year old daughter wet and cold . Snider player was in the open field untouched and no Penn defender within 20 yards , running to score a touchdown to win the game , when the grass reached up and tackled him. Game went into OT and Penn won and went on to win their 3rd state title in a row .1 point

75-Erik Bedock- yes, he has multiple D2-3 and NAIA offers spread between 5 states. He hasn’t committed to one yet. Thanks for the nod. Love, His Mom Thanks for the years of entertainment, Gridiron. It’s been fun!1 point

I think they’re in the process of working their way thru it. I’m not privy to the minutia but I think the end was accelerated.1 point

I have watched some video on Merrillville, great team speed, lots of good athletes, undisciplined at times, likes to run the ball quite a bit. When motivated and engaged in the game, they are tough to beat. If Snider can get ahead by double digits, not sure Merrillville will stay in and fight back. I will stand by statement before the Mishawaka game, beating Mishawaka would be harder than Merrillville or Valpo1 point

Great football game. Cathedral is a first-class program. Glad this game will become a yearly thing in the regular season the next few seasons.1 point

This could potentially be Radtke's 4th team he has taken to the state finals. All public schools that have never been there before prior to his arrival. Pretty impressive1 point

I think you misunderstood what I was saying. I was basically saying (in this instance) that I wish that LaVille fan would have realized that LCC has "played big boy" football.. playing the schedule and the teams they do makes them prepared for "big boy" football. What makes you think LaVilles new schedule won't help them that much? Valley is an upgrade compared to any HNAC school. Jimtown, Glenn and Bremen would compete against every HNAC team and would beat most.1 point

They don't have a football team yet. I am think Coach D is waiting for Coach K to retire and move down there to start up a football team in "The Villages" he already has the portable megaphone ready to pull out of the drawer!1 point

O'Neil was tough as nails last night. His first Interception (pick 6) was the fault of the WR not his. He would have been much more effective had he not sustained the knee injury in the 3rd qtr. He was still effective but he couldn't escape some of the pressure late in the game at times as his knee got worse. I commend him for gutting it out and still making plays. The Irish defense I thought played outstanding giving up only 20 points to a Ben Davis team averaging 42 points per game. It should have been only 13 points given up as right before the half Ben Davis got a TD pass after being gifted a first down from the officials when the Irish stopped Ben Davis on 4th and short that wasn't even close. Officiating struggled with spotting the ball the entire game. The Irish still made several big time 4th down stops. I still can't get out of my head THE AMAZING CATCH Slaughter #8 for Cathedral made at the 1 yard line!! Anyone who didn't watch that game needs to go back and watch it just for that 1 catch, it was truly amazing. He jumped in the air with the defender there catches it then pins it to the defenders helmet/shoulder pads on the way down all the way to the ground maintaining possession. Definitely a highlight reel. Ben Davis' kicker got redemption kicking that 40 yarder after missing his first FG of the game. The one player that aside from the kicker that played lights out was the BD running Back Price. He fought hard even though the Irish were keeping him at bay most of the game. His TD run was huge and he had a big time short pass he turned into major yards. Both teams definitely left it all out on the field in all 3 aspects of the game. Ben Davis escaped healthier from this game than Cathedral would have with O'Neil banged up. The Center Grove at Ben Davis game will be another good one1 point
