  1. I hate to say I agree, but I do. However, the only complaint you will hear from me is that this was the LAST game for those Seniors, not a meaningless regular season game. On top of that, not all of Linton's fans feel the way we are portrayed on here. All fan bases have bad apples, just ours seem to be louder than others. 😄

  2. I can think of several Liptons fans that would be on here complaining if it was the other way around. Swear to God they would

  3. The good news story is that our corner of the state is playing really good football. The result is our programs push each other to a higher level.

  5. My earlier statement still stands! I will be donating $50 to the cause, but will up it to $100 if Warsaw can claim their first ever sectional championship this Friday night against Penn!

  7. I would have lost a bet. I thought we had the least, Westfield to Carmel stadium 5.9 miles. 1 stop sign, 2 round abouts, &1 light.

  8. I guess my issue here is we feel strongly that we do not speculate on these sort of coaching decisions and we are not in the rumor business I cannot tell you how many times I get an email from a coach who has to defend himself because of a rumor a fan has started no here. Nobody gets a Adam Shefter breaking news badge around here. Its a simple concept really

  11. They won't play Castle next year in regular season. With the addition of Happens and Vincennes to the SIAC, there will be no non conference games

  13. I still contend Andrean over Boone Grove was not an upset. Andrean plays in a much tougher conference and were much more physical. I still like BG, don’t get me wrong, but this was not an upset. The Rensselaer game will be epic.

  14. I know Sagarin isn't the gospel, but Avon/Brownsburg and L. Jeff/Merrillville were tossup games. These are not OSU/Michigan. They are not 'Bama/LSU.

  16. Sagarin’s Predictor is slightly different from the overall rating. The , is such that the score is the only thing that matters. is also known as , BALLANTINE, RHEINGOLD, WHITE OWL and is a very good of future games.

  17. I was just looking at the strength of the various Sectionals and absorbing some of the subtle condescension elsewhere here when discussing 6A vs. the rest of the State. So, I decided to look at the average strength of the various 6A Sectionals (which have 4 teams each) vs. the top 4 teams in 3A Sectional 28 (Chatard, West Lafayette, Brebeuf and Guerin). The only real possible comparison was to use analytics so I defaulted to Sagarin. I could have used Calpreps, etc. but chose Sagarin since it is so often utilized here. I averaged the Sagarin strength rating of each 6A Sectional v. the top 4 teams in 3A Sectional 28. The results were interesting. The top 4 teams in 3A Sectional 28 had an average Sagarin Rating of 82.68 Only 6A Sectionals 4, 5 and 7 had higher average Sagarin Ratings (98.79, 95.66 and 91.85 respectively) 6A Sectionals 1, 2, 3, 6 (Perry Meridian really drags the average down in this Sectional) and 8 were all lower on average than Sectional 28 (77.27, 72.36, 80.48, 69.19 and 82.17 respectively). As it also turns out, only Sectional 4, 5 and 7 had a higher Sagarin rated individual team than the highest Sagarin rated team in Sectional 28. The top team in 1, 2, 3, 6 and 8 were all lower rated. Interesting (and useless) factoid but maybe a bow in the quiver of some of the smaller classes should they spy some 6A chest beating going on. To be clear, the champion of a Class is just that....their Class champ. They aren’t champion of the class or classes above (or even below them). My main point (and burr in my butt) is the automatic assumption that bigger means better......by default when it comes to talking about individual teams playing one another. It doesn’t. And before we talked about teams more recently like New Pal (who is the default example) there were other teams in Indiana like Mater Dei and Luers that for decades had consistently beat or competed evenly against schools multiple times bigger than they were and it was EXPECTED that they would win more than their share of those games. There seems to be some thought process that somehow every 6A school is a MIC (or HCC) school as regards football. Most 6A schools are just pretty average.......some just flat out piss poor. Keep in mind, 5A is only as strong as it is because of the 4A teams that moved into it and dominated that class. Good teams are good teams and it shouldn’t be some shock that they beat bigger teams. Rant over......maybe.

  20. In the class 1A tournament, Northfield's upset over Southwood was a huge shocker to me. Northfield started their season 0-4 against good competition, including a 20-6 loss to Southwood in week 4. However, since then they had rattled off 6 straight victories in impressive fashion and beat the 10-0 Knights by a score of 14-6 on Friday night. Big time upset there. I was looking forward to seeing the outcome of the sectional championship between Adams Central vs. Southwood.

  28. @1st_and_10 it depends on what you are looking for. If you're in the mood for a piping hot juicy fart sandwich I would suggest the Taco Bell, which recently reopened. If you're looking for great food I would recommend Gerrie's. I very much enjoy their calzones. If you're looking for a 12 month calendar featuring pictures of South Vermillion football coach Greg Barrett wearing only speedos and a visor, you can pick one up at the Corner Stop gas station.

  30. I think Oklahoma gets left out first. Their loss to K State was as devastating to them as the Purdue loss last year was to Ohio State. While it was a close game, they still gave up 48 points. I am enjoying seeing it comedown to several scenarios this season though. It seems that since the playoff was introduced, two teams have shown they were a notch above the others. I don't really get that feeling this year. I am sticking with Ohio State though as the best team right now. It pains me to no end to say that, but they are THAT good.

  32. We did very well from Varsity to Middle School this season. From Coach Bragg and on down, we have really good coaching. In regards to Seymour, I’ll say this. They’re 7th and 8th grade teams are really good. I think Seymour could be pretty good down the road. The entire HHC is on a positive trajectory. East is the blue blood. FC and BNL have good programs. NA has some really good underclassmen and should improve. Jeffersonville always has talent, it just remains to be seen if they can figure it out. I like the coach at JC. It remains to be seen if he can find enough personnel to win. And then there is Madison, who is just under-matched against the HHC and quite frankly, deserves a conference change.

  33. Yeah I picked Andrean over Boone Grove in the bracket challenge. Some games I struggled with trying to decide a winner but this wasn't one of them. Therefore, not an upset in my mind.

  37. I was not too surprised on this one. Becker is a good QB, Snider really could not contain in first game and obviously the second game as he torched the Snider for 324 yards plus had numerous rush yards.Plus, Snider is so undisciplined when it comes to penalties, think they had 15 flags in game, had 7 in first quarter. One last thing is they had running game going in 1st quarter and tried throwing, why???? I think Carroll will give Homestead better game this time around.

  39. My only quarrel with John is that he doesn't recognize forfeits. If he's the official arbiter of history and stats, I think that's a weakness. I've had debates with him on this. He believes that it's what happened on the field/floor. In the rare case of the double forfeit...he just says the game never happened. His work though...underappreciated and revolutionary. I have no idea how we operated before (even though we did).

  40. Princeton is playing for a sectional championship while Gibson is putting up equipment? That fact alone is enough proof to tell me the current postseason format is ridiculous.

  41. Sorry Bobref. Didn’t mean to upset you. Just making a comment from info I’ve read here. In general, I know that players are human and can make mistakes and draw flags from officials I would think that it is also agreeable that refs are humans too and can have bad games where they make mistakes as well. Perfection by either can not be expected. And I would say that referees are second only to weathermen in the acceptance of incorrect calls.

  45. So where would they go? Concordia explored that option and the NE8 said no to private schools. Maybe they should get rid of the coaching staff? Seems that the last change is when the down hill slide started. That is my opinion.
